Chapter 59: THE APPROACH OF THE GLOBAL VANGUARD
The eastern sky over the Pacific Maritime Corridor turned into an iron wall of high-tech war machines and floating mana-fortresses.
Crossing the ocean borders toward Sector 1 was the full might of the Global Vanguard Coalition—a task force assembled by the World Hunter Federation to execute an absolute containment strike. Leading the formation were three massive, two-thousand-foot Aegis-Class Floating Battleships protected by interlocking anti-mana energy barriers. Surrounding them were two hundred high-speed airborne transports carrying two hundred S-Rank and SS-Rank elite Hunters from America, Europe, and Asia.
In the skies above the flagship The Spear of Geneva, two hundred elite airborne Hunters flew in tight combat formation, their mana wings and enchanted flight artifacts leaving glowing white and blue trails against the dark clouds.
Standing at the bow of the lead battleship, his heavy tactical coat whipping in the ocean gale, was General Viktor Vance. His two ancient, rune-inscribed broadswords were unsheathed, resting against the steel deck. Beside him, Archmage Cassandra knelt on the metal floor, her hands pressed against a massive crystal scrying orb that reflected real-time atmospheric readings from the Capital Sector.
"General..." Cassandra whispered, her voice trembling beneath her silk blindfold. She suddenly pulled her hands back from the orb as if burned by raw fire. "The scrying feed... the mana signature in Sector 1 just shifted."
"Did the Calamity Boss destroy his legion?" a North American SS-Rank Guild Master nearby asked, stepping forward with a hopeful look on his face. "Did the Leviathan crush him?"
"No," Cassandra choked out, cold sweat dripping down her chin. "The Leviathan’s energy core... was erased in less than ten minutes. And now... a massive spectral energy signature, over five hundred meters in length, has risen from the center of the city."
The bridge of the flagship fell dead silent. Elite Hunters who had faced Tier-SS gates across the globe exchanged nervous, terrified glances.
"He didn’t just clear a National-Class Dungeon Break," General Viktor said, his voice flat and unreadable. He slowly raised his eyes toward the dark, violet-tinged horizon where the Capital City lay. "He harvested it. He forced the gate open early to turn the Calamity Boss into his personal war mount before we could arrive."
"General, order the fleet to halt!" the North American Guild Master urged, his hands trembling on his weapon hilt. "We are walking into an active Monarch’s hunting ground! We need orbital bombardment! We need the nuclear mana-warheads from Geneva!"
CLANG!
General Viktor drove the tip of his broadsword into the steel deck, sending a violent shockwave of silver mana across the bridge that instantly silenced every panicking officer.
"If we turn back now, he will finish integrating the eastern provinces within forty-eight hours," Viktor declared, his silver eyes burning with ruthless, unyielding resolve. "And when he crosses the ocean, there will be no fleet left to stand between him and our home capitals. We strike now, while his new shadow units are fresh from extraction!"
Viktor turned toward his comms officer.
"Deploy all three hundred Arcane Suppression Anchors into the ocean shelf around Sector 1," Viktor ordered. "Lock the spatial coordinates. Deny him the ability to teleport his shadow legion behind our fleet!"
[Global Vanguard Tactical Deployment]
Task Force: 200 SS-Rank Hunters / 3 Aegis-Class Battleships
Primary Device: 300 Arcane Suppression Anchors (Spatial Lock Active)
Objective: Absolute Pinpoint Decapitation Strike on Sovereign ’Renan’
Sixty miles away, atop the towering, glowing head of the colossal Shadow Dragon Leviathan, Renan looked out across the western horizon toward the approaching fleet.
The five-hundred-meter spectral dragon hovered silently five thousand feet above the Association Tower, its massive shadow covering entire sub-sectors below. Standing behind Renan on the dragon’s back were his primary commanders: Ignis, Sylas, Beatrice, Ronald, Jonathan, and the newly extracted Shadow Commander Gregory.
Below on the city streets, the 22,900 units of the Shadow Legion stood in absolute, silent formation, their golden eyes burning like a sea of embers in the twilight shadow.
"Master," Shadow Commander James spoke, appearing beside Renan as a dark holographic map expanded between them. "The Global Vanguard Fleet has deployed three hundred Class-SS Arcane Suppression Anchors into the coastal waters. Our spatial jump corridors along the shoreline have been locked."
"They learned from the Northern Pass," Shadow Commander Sylas hissed, his void daggers crackling with dark energy. "They think locking spatial movement will trap us inside the city."
A faint, cold smile appeared on Renan’s face. He looked down at his gloved hands, feeling the staggering density of thirty-seven thousand eight hundred and fifty physical stat points circulating through his Monarch core. His bone structure, his senses, and his raw mana output were now so refined that the air within ten feet of him bent naturally under his gravitational presence.
"They brought two hundred SS-Rank Hunters," Renan murmured softly, his double-toned voice echoing across the dragon’s scales. "The absolute pinnacle of human Hunter civilization. They spent decades hoarding relics, mana crystals, and political authority to build that fleet."
Renan raised his right hand, extending his palm toward the approaching storm clouds on the eastern horizon.
"They believe that spatial anchors can protect them from the Sovereign," Renan said, his golden eyes glowing with absolute, cold malice. "They do not understand that within this domain... the air itself obeys my command."
Renan looked down at Shadow Commander Ronald and Shadow Commander Beatrice.
"Ronald. Beatrice. Prepare the atmospheric storm," Renan ordered. "Let us welcome the World Federation to our shores."
"By your command, My Monarch!" the two shadow commanders bowed, stepping to the edge of the dragon’s head and raising their arms toward the sky.
The clouds above Sector 1 began to swirl in a massive, violent vortex as two ancient spectral commanders combined their high-tier magic, channeling the infinite mana flowing directly from Renan’s core.
Renan looked back toward the eastern horizon, his black coat billowing wildly in the gathering storm.
"General Viktor Vance..." Renan whispered into the cold wind. "Come and show me if your world-class strength can buy your freedom."
