Lesson 10: The stronghold of the Imperial capital
The place that was transferred and brought in was the whole city bustling with the hustle and bustle of the people.
A city I've never seen. At least not Alistair.
"Is this the Empire City?
"Yes, it will be in front of the Imperial Labyrinth"
There was a square with an Adventurer's Guild and a large temple ahead of Mr. Cattleya, who indicated so.
Not only are there people in the square from other countries, but there are also non-human subpeople, such as elves with bows on their backs, dwarves with hammers, marmans with spears, etc.
"Is it uncommon for a subhuman?
"Right. Because there are few subpeople in the kingdom of Metis."
There are also subpeople in the kingdom of Metis, but only by the divine tree Yugdrasil, a place like the countryside with nothing further behind the border, ahead through the forest of stray as in the elves.
I'm not excluding myself from saying that, either, but I don't have a subhuman voice because of the small number of people who originally live there. Because they're looking down there because of it, they choose to relax with their peers in the countryside rather than being seen with strange eyes in the city.
Some of them had no choice but to be like Mr. Louise, and some of them came out of the country out of curiosity, so it doesn't mean they're not there at all.
"Empires are countries that have grown by swallowing the countries around them. Some of them were small countries, mainly subpeople, so we were to welcome them in. It is a source of discord that you were excluding the subpeople because it is a country that you swallowed. For that reason, the current situation is a natural sight to calm the country down."
"I see."
Some invaders believe that the people of the ruling country are free to treat them no matter what.
However, the empire's exchangers did not seem to be, and at least in the imperial capital the people of the annexed country were also accepted without problems.
"So that's what I see over there..."
"Yes, it is a temple with an adventurer guild and an entrance to the labyrinth"
At the centre of the square was a large temple, with large buildings built to its left and right.
"Imperial capital is a city that is not known to the public but where the first emperor was enlarged using the power of the labyrinth. That's why the labyrinth is at its centre, with the Adventurer's Guild beside it, entrusted with the management of the labyrinth."
Saying that he is entrusted with management does not entitle him to speak out for operations in the labyrinth, and he ensures that adventurers challenging the labyrinth do nothing reckless and do not lose valuable talent. He also efficiently collects resources by passing information in the labyrinth obtained by adventurers to adventurers.
Around there, you're no different than Alistair.
The actual operation is carried out by those who have become labyrinthine lords.
He went into the Adventurer's Guild carrying a backpack filled with material of demons crusaded by a group that still came out of the labyrinth.
"I don't mind any city if I just try the labyrinth, so with an adventurer card it's easy to get in. If you want, you can show them to the Adventurer Alliance."
"No, it's fine now"
I'm a little interested in the Adventurer Guild in Imperial Capital.
But you can peek at it later when you make time.
"I'll show you to the inn."
I don't think the labyrinth attack will be over in a day.
It's the labyrinth that needs days if we're to seriously think about offense.
Mr. Cattleya takes you out of the alley and walks you into a building that was just around the corner, opposite the direction where the labyrinth is located.
"Welcome"
The building - my uncle, standing at the counter just a short time after entering the inn, welcomed me with a smile.
They also run the dining room at the inn, and a dozen adventure-like figures were making noise in the room next to the entrance. There's even someone in there who's drinking and making noise even though it's only morning.
"Sorry for the noise. He seems to be an adventurer just finishing up a big favor, so he's been making a scene all morning."
"Really?"
Mr Cattleya answers briefly.
He was returning to a grinning smile as soon as his eyesight sharpened for a moment and he glanced at the adventurers.
I don't know what I'm going to treat you like right now, but even Mr. Cattleya, until recently, acted as an adventurer, so I know what it's like for an adventurer to want to make a scene after a huge request. However, it seems that I am not convinced by the noisy situation.
"Could you get a room for them?
"... are there only three people staying?
"Yeah, and I thought you had an appointment."
Please wait a moment.
It's probably an appointment that Rio and the others had made before they traveled to the capital.
You didn't even know if we were going to take the conversation, but you had an appointment.
"I do have an appointment made to leave my room vacant due today, but this was a request from the state..."
Mr. Cattleya shows you a different ID than an adventurer card.
Only then did the master of the inn perceive everything.
"Were you royal? Sorry, sir."
"No, I don't mind. The reservation is for them to stay. By the way, they are important guests to the next emperor. Please make sure there is no coarse phase."
"Thank you. But if you're a valued guest, wouldn't it be nice to be accomplished in Imperial Castle?
"They are the people the next emperor has invited straight away, but they are adventurers. They're supposed to be challenged to the labyrinth for a special request for the next emperor's personal use, so you can't invite them to Imperial Castle. So even in Imperial Capital, they let us take advantage of the acclaimed Inn among adventurers."
"Thank you"
My husband is smiling satisfied when I hear Mr. Cattleya's assessment.
But Mr. Cattleya's explanation is amazing.
There is no doubt that we are adventurers invited by the next emperor, and it does not change that we are here in the capital at the private request of the next emperor. Actually, it's just about competing for a labyrinth attack... I'm not lying at all.
"The Inn is proud of its cooks and promises a comfortable life"
I head to the room upstairs while my husband guides me.
The room to which it was addressed was a room of four people with two beds lined left and right. Rooms are well cleaned in every corner, and it seems true that they are highly rated.
"May I ask what you have planned for today"
"There's been a request, so you don't know what time you'll be back after you try the labyrinth."
"Then I'll make sure it's served whenever it's not too late"
He's been kind enough to know we're connected adventurers with the Emperor so he wouldn't let his customers get away with it.
That's just bad to be back in the middle of the night or something.
"You don't have to worry about it because it's possible you'll be eating outside."
"Really? Okay, take your time."
My husband leaves the room.
Then Mr. Cattleya and Mr. Button bowed their heads.
"I'm sorry. It would have been easy for us to accommodate the accommodation we used as adventurers..."
"The next emperor, the queen, and the side room are no longer easily accessible."
"Well, I guess so."
Adventurer Inns can provide satisfactory services because they are adventurers.
Even though he is a former adventurer there, if the emperor shows up with his family, it will be noisy, and even the owner of the inn is nervous and unable to provide services.
"Please base this room while you are in Imperial Capital. This is the one you can't ask for, so I'll have all the costs here."
"Thank you"
I needed a place to be based more than I would need for days to attack the labyrinth.
No, all my family members can call at any time if I summon them, so it's okay for them to transfer back to Alistair, but when they get back to me, they need to rely on someone from Rio's family to come to the Imperial City. If that's how you want to make a debt, you should make sure you have a place to be based.
"Now let's head to the labyrinth where we can secure our base."
