Lesson 15: War with the Gardis Empire - Medium -

The war between the Glenvarga and Gardis empires has also begun this year. When you say war, it's not really a battle to attack and destroy the other country, but a war whose goal is to concentrate our forces on the borders and fight each other.

There is air somewhere like a routine event.

"That's troublesome."

I cannot help complaining to the chief officials of the countries concerned.

Even last year we couldn't go to the Gardis Empire because there was a war.

"This one's on the attacked side. I don't care if they complain."

It is the Gardis Empire who is constantly invading.

He keeps attacking like an eyewitness from naming the same empire. We're not at war on each other's frontiers, about winter clad in snow.

"Do you know what country the Gardis Empire is?

……

You can say you have no idea.

No, that's not what Rio is trying to say, although geography is in my mind because I was going to visit a city with a labyrinth.

It is Melissa who can count on you at times like this.

"… originally the Kingdom of Gardis, which was only one of a number of small and medium-sized countries, but one of the princes swallowed the surrounding countries one after the other in the name of the Emperor, eventually becoming large enough to be called a power. But this was done more than a hundred years ago, five generations ago, by the emperor."

The great emperor has also already died from aging.

"Before we integrated, it seems that the area where the Gardis Empire was now was always like a place where war was taking place"

"You're no different now."

"They weren't in that easy situation. Seems like it was meant to seriously hate the other person and take the territory"

To the south is the Grenvarga Empire, a great power.

No one imitated selling fights here, and there were miserable days like taking each other's territory.

It was only one of the princes who worried about such a situation, the man who would become emperor.

"You were in a similar position."

Melissa's gaze is directed towards Rio.

Rio was also a prince equal to having no right to inherit the throne. And it was very unlikely that the prince in the matter could also be king because of his low order of inheritance.

"Still overflowing with a sense of justice, the prince succeeds in bringing together people who are just fighting and suffering to attack neighboring countries, increasing their power of war and ultimately fulfilling integration.

Only the Grenvarga Empire, a great power, bordered the border, and the area in dispute succeeded in restoring peace.

"That's the end of what's commonly known as the beauty story. But reality doesn't end so beautifully."

"What do you think will happen to the force that continues to expand to integrate?

"It's..."

Battlepower that eventually swelled to the scale of hundreds of thousands.

It was good when there was a use, but the peace made the useless force unnecessary.

But it is the force that cannot be abandoned because it is unnecessary.

In the end, I had to spend it on military spending with taxes I had sucked from the people to maintain my strength.

Naturally, the people who are paying taxes can't be unhappy with the soldiers who are wasting their food. Soldiers were also disgusted with the days when they had no aggressors and just trained.

Of course there's no way the emperor won't notice the situation.

"The war against us is only to drain military forces that have swelled too far. I'm kidding, but they've been fighting for decades for that reason."

Until a few years ago, the aim was to create a reason to maintain combat power in skirmishes.

However, one of the most vocal nobles went on the offensive aimed at the Glenvarga Empire, which reduced the power of the country.

"Your enemies today are attacking you with only the minimum amount of combat power you need to maintain law and order. Of course, I'm putting in the force because I have to deal with this one accordingly. Fortunately, now we don't have to think about a war with the Kingdom of Metis, so we can concentrate north."

With all that fighting power gathered, the power on the part of the Glenvalga Empire is also tingly and frustrating.

"I also thought about going through a state of war if possible..."

"Stop it. You'll be stuck under suspicion of espionage or something... don't imitate killing our soldiers by mistake"

"I wouldn't do that."

If you are confident that no one will find you through a normal border.

But I don't even have the confidence to get out of there without finding me in a state of war alert. If you can defeat it, there's no means, but you could lose the trust you've built up so far, such as defeating the soldiers of the Glenvarga Empire.

I just want to slip out of the way if I can.

"There's a way to get to the battlefield without anyone blaming you."

"Is that true!?

"Oh. You wouldn't even be suspicious if I accompanied you."

"I sure am..."

If Rio, the emperor, is next door, there is nothing to blame.

"Let's take you to the battlefield as escorts. After that, it would be fine if I decided to say it was a secret agent and let him break in. We have our own [transfer] on the way home, so you don't have to stop by the battlefield."

"Then it would be possible to break in..."

"Are you dissatisfied?

"Disgruntled, rather than..."

"Isn't it a problem to hire adventurers to escort the Emperor?

The emperor would have to have a knight as his escort.

Even if he is a former adventurer and himself a stronger Rio than a knight, he is usually protected by Kingsguard knights, minding the outside world. He doesn't seem to be in this room because he hasn't stepped into a private place.

It's hard for adventurers to get escorts without knights.

"No problem then. If you were adventurers other than yourselves, how much would my men not listen where I strongly said it? But you guys helped me during a cartel raid that simulated into a giant mountain. I've already shown strength. If you have people complaining, it's until you twist them down with force."

"... is that okay, it"

However, Rio's visit to the battlefield is already a matter of decision. Apparently, the goal is to improve military morale by visiting the battlefield by the emperor himself.

That's what it's supposed to be on the face of it.

But in fact, he cared about me and screwed with condolences that weren't originally planned.

I decide to visit the battlefield at the right time.

"I have a lot of plans here, too. If I were to visit the battlefield, it would be a month from now."

"Don't take long."

"I want to make this one a priority, too. But there's a pile of things I have to do with my errands when I ask about the faces of the nobles. If you're going to the battlefield, you'll need to leave the Imperial City for a few decades, so you'll need to clean up your affairs in advance in preparation for your visit. I thought if it was so hard, I shouldn't have become an emperor."

Rio drinks up tea ramblingly with stupidity.

Mr. Cattleya was smiling and pouring tea into the cup when he offered the empty cup.

"I'm telling you this, I was really looking forward to seeing you guys."

"Hey."

"Because now you can't move around as freely as you did when you were an adventurer. I can't even meet my old colleagues. You are truly valuable to talk about reciprocity in such circumstances."

"I'm nothing..."

Rio that turns that way.

Heh, I'm a little surprised you were thinking that way.

"Ma, I know I'm stuck in my room and I'm about to catch my breath with all my errands. I'm gonna hang out with you for a little while."

"Then tell me what happened. I hear you and God have done it again."

Nor does Rio have any experience in fighting God.

I was intrigued by our experience.

"Hey!"

I can hear Sierra loud when I'm letting her hear what happened recently.

Is something wrong? When I turned around in a hurry, Prince Guardil nearly got beaten up by Sierra.
