Episode 38: The Secret Passage of the Empire

Imperial Wingle.

It is a huge city and is said to be inhabited by hundreds of thousands of people. The outer perimeter of the city is surrounded by thick walls, preventing enemy incursions.

Exactly the iron wall. But now it makes human intrusion more difficult because of demons entering the city.

The cities I've stopped by have temporarily lost demons. But there are still demons sitting in the Imperial capital. No, still in better shape.

Only us party and army executives gather for a meeting as we hide ourselves in a ruin that reminds us of a decaying temple on a hill where we can see such an imperial capital.

"I'd like to talk about the way forward."

It is General Holland who knows the most about the Empire that brings us information.

"There is a huge cavity in the basement of this ruin. There's a hidden passage that runs all the way to the capital, so we'll break into the capital through there."

"I've heard about the ruins near Imperial City."

General Holkes, who had been hearing information about the Gardis Empire, had naturally heard about the dubious ruins near the Empire City.

"But I have heard that it is a ruin that has already been explored by the hands of adventurers"

Ruins that have long been near the city.

There is no reason why we haven't explored such a place, and the kind of treasure has been taken away, and nothing of historical value has been left behind.

So the Glenvarga army didn't give importance either.

"In fact, there are hidden passages that only the Emperor knows about."

"What!?

It was Emperor Amshas who found it.

By using his skills as a labyrinth lord in full, he seems to have ascertained what is near the Imperial City.

"I just heard from Emperor Justios, too. I have no idea what kind of place it is."

I don't want to go to such a suspicious place even though I don't have any advance information.

But I was in a situation where I couldn't even say so.

"The original plan was to give them a break after temporarily recapturing the Imperial Capital so that they could go as far as the Illukite, but it's impossible now."

Surviving power is about 10,000.

It is no longer a force of war that allows the recapture of the city rather than the cage castle.

"The hidden passage leads to the basement of the castle. If we can use this place, we can take back food without encountering demons."

Imperial capital, where demons are nasty.

But there are more demons out there than demons in Imperial Capital. We can't avoid encountering demons no matter what place we go through.

If you think of soldiers exhausted by the battle, you had no choice but to avoid the battle.

"Let me tell you one thing from us. Let's take a different course of action after we secure the food."

"Does that mean - we're going all the way to Ilkite on our own?

"You don't need an escort when you get here anymore."

The goal is currently. If it's just us, we'd better run through it all at once.

However, it is not sneaky to abandon you in a place like this.

Let's move on.

Go inside the ruins.

Used to be used as a festival place. Columns were regularly arranged and continued into the back.

And there was the deepest reason why this place was called a ruin.

"You can dive underground from here."

Pocky, empty, wide entrance.

There was a staircase leading downstairs so that we could go underground.

Since there are no lights on the stairs, rely solely on the lights of the pine lights held by the soldiers.

"This is..."

"Have you noticed"

General Holland noticed Melissa staring at the wall.

"Is it a diary"

"Can you read it!?

"Yes, everywhere..."

General Holland was impressed at first with Melissa's realization that the letters were engraved on the wall. But knowing I could even understand the meaning of the letters, I was even more surprised.

"It is the ancient letters that are used. It also seems to have been used in a rather special way."

"The archaeologists couldn't decipher the material with one hand, either, but how do you read it?

"I'm just reading normally"

"Huh..."

"Oh, I had a chance to touch the ancient letters a while ago, so I remembered then"

"Speaking of which, you look familiar."

The letters written on the walls are identical to those used in the ruins that were Golem's production plant. It's not surprising that Melissa, who was performing the analysis, was able to remember and decipher the language that was used.

"This place, which was initially used for a different purpose, became a place of refuge during the 'catastrophe', when ancient civilizations were cut off from collapsing because of its robustness and ability to preserve the environment."

Apart from the labyrinth, there were other places that became evacuation facilities.

"What was happening then? Archaeologists say they wrote on the wall desperately to leave it behind."

So, a diary?

"... apparently not such a noble sentence"

"Melissa?"

"No, let's hurry ahead"

Melissa squeaks as she looks at the wall.

It's like you didn't hear anything but us, so we move on to our feet heading downstairs.

"Hey, what is this place?!?

One of the soldiers screamed to see what was going on at the bottom.

The place we arrived was the belly cave, where the ceiling was high.

Soil pointy as ice columns are descending from the ceiling, and soil columns are popping everywhere like thorns from the ground as well.

"It was originally expected to be a flat spot. But they say the terrain has changed under the influence of magic flowing through the earth's veins."

"But this..."

Some places are only big enough for people to pass by.

A place where life is more painful than Cave Field in the labyrinth. Very, I don't think the evacuees lived in a place like this.

"No, it seems it's only recently that it's gotten so bad."

"Really?

"Yes, I was just getting a report too, but apparently there have been major changes in the flow of the ground veins over the last few years. Apparently the basement of the affected ruins has changed dramatically"

"I see."

The manifestation of God followed.

As a result, it is not surprising that there has been some effect on the ground vein.

"Let's decide to hurry ahead. To say that only weak demons like earthdragons come out here that are staple foods of dirt and rocks that contain a lot of magic does not change it to be a dangerous place..."

"Shh."

Tell General Holland to be quiet when he tries to explain the ruins underground.

There are signs from the back of the lung cave.

I found someone breathtaking. No, maybe it's all of us.

"Something, I'm here..."

I can hear footsteps about whether someone is approaching me.

"You..."

"Nice to meet you."

What showed up was a woman with chestnut hair short and glasses hanging. She has a thick book in her hand and is an intelligent woman who doesn't deserve to be underground in a bell cave.

But the signs of being haunted are not normal.

"Zeon's family?"

"Yes, the last one - it's a tual"

Woman - The tual was lightly affirmed.

"I'll show you all to the basement of the castle, behind the bell cave."

"You, the enemy?

"Let's correct one mistake. We became his family because we worked together for our own ends and we needed strength. But as we may have conflicting purposes, we sought compromises and took action."

"I mean, isn't the status quo right for your purpose?

"Yes."

Melissa's words were affirmed, simplifying what Tual wanted to say.

"I am one of the descendants of the Duke family in the kingdom of Wingle. I promise to get you all home safe and sound. Instead, you're going to have to swallow the terms from me, but that's about it, right?"
