Dungeons for the Devil, Dungeons for the Core (Book Version Title: A Different World Dungeon Made with the Devil)
Chapter 59: Theodrum 2. Infiltration
The sound of something big cutting the wind, followed by dull...... sounds like slashing and tearing something apart, and after a moment a thick smell of blood covers the area.
"Damn it!
Apparently he suffered a hand injury. Someone's groan is followed by a repentant man's voice. The man waves his sword and tries to restrain the big beast - it's a monster, no matter how he sees it - but the monster has emitted a fireball from afar as if to mock (bruise). The man desperately dodges it. Arrows fly from another direction toward the beast, but they are not in any kind of restraint.
It was then.
When I wondered if there was a sharp wind cut, blood splashed up from the back of the monster. It looks like a shallow wound, but someone beat the monster to death.
"Run away!
I heard a voice like a woman, but I don't have time to check. When the man held his wounded companion, he left the scene scattered.
The monster watched silently, but flipped. There's nothing I'm going to regret about how it goes.
... as if it had been as planned from the beginning.
"I'm sorry, I picked it up with your shame. I'm Jansen, it's Doug with the bow, the injured..."
"Shouldn't you be treating me before I introduce you?
"Oh... but we have to stop the blood here."
"I don't specialize in healing magic... heels"
"Oh, you can use healing magic too... I knew you were a magician"
"It's Maria. It's only a first aid, so I suggest you get a doctor when you get back."
"Oh, oh... thanks for the overlap. This is Boroque, a scout."
"I've never been around here before... hunting monsters without a magician is the fashion around here? Even so, isn't a Hellfire Links opponent reckless at all costs?
"No... I wasn't expecting such a monster to wander off. What the hell is that dungeon..."
"Dungeons? Isn't there something wrong? Hellfire Links isn't a monster in a dungeon, is it? Because they live in spacious forests."
"No, I don't know if you're suspicious, but this dungeon - called Pitt, or Yferpit - has been strangely violent lately, with monsters wandering nearby like you wouldn't normally think, and attention is drawn from the Alliance."
"Did you come here to ignore that?
"At the request of the army, it's good to come in."
"Of the Royal Army? I didn't ask you to do that.
"Oh, I'm a Theodoram man, and my client is a Theodoram army."
"Theodoram? Scared, not the country next door. Why are you asking me to get rid of this monster?
"No, I'm not exorcising you. Just an investigation. They're starting to see ferocious monsters on their trading routes with Illustria for everything, and they can't ignore the damage done to the merchants. Illustria never sends troops this far... I mean, this is the first time I've seen an Illustrian adventurer, right?
"Ahhh... sure, there are many other good hunting grounds besides here. I don't think many people like things that come all the way to the end of the south like this."
"So, you're one of those things lovers, but why were you alone in this place again?
"The other party got hurt and it was supposed to work solo for a while. So I was going to come to a place that seemed to have few competitors..."
"You think it was a hunting ground for Theodoram's adventurers?"
"Ma, right. But is that the kind of circumstance that makes it quicker to find out the information around here in Theodoram?
"Well, you are. I'll show you to our Adventurer Alliance. Apart from thank you, this is a sign of gratitude."
"Thank you. That's sweet of you to say."
The three men led the sorceress away to the neighbouring country.
"My Lord, the fish have eaten into the bait."
"All right, are you ready for the backup squad? Keep your distance and track when it gets a little darker. Be careful not to be distracted, okay?
"Understanding (Rager)"
