Dungeons for the Devil, Dungeons for the Core (Book Version Title: A Different World Dungeon Made with the Devil)

Chapter 88: Morvanian Army Border Surveillance Unit 3. Abandoned Pits of Reprimination

Arsenium was not detected from the water in the well dug into the Morvanian army garrison for a reason.

A little back in mid-October last year (JST), Crowe was examining the reality of arsenic contamination in Shrek, as well as whether there were any organisms resistant to arsenic contamination locally. Arsenium, which had been free in a decade of mining, could be almost recovered by alchemy, but arsenium in the land had contaminated the soil and groundwater since before, and until the recovery of that amount, even just a crow was out of reach. Because I wondered if any organisms that absorb and accumulate arsenic and become monsters would help decontaminate them. It was knowledge in the Earth world that led Crowe to this idea.

It was once reported that NASA in the Earth world had discovered organisms living with arsenic instead of phosphorus in highly arsenic-contaminated areas. Subsequent studies revealed that although the organism in question is highly resistant to arsenic, it does not live by the use of arsenic itself. However, it is believed that arsenic may be accumulating in the body, and Crowe paid attention to this point. Because of the accumulation of toxins from other organisms in the body, such as the Earth's fugue and yadokutoad, and their use as poisons to protect themselves, we have considered the possibility that there are organisms in the environment that accumulate arsenic in the body to protect themselves.

"Slime..."

It was one slime in front of the crow, living in a water hoard in the corner of the pit. The water in the water reservoir is clear, but contains arsenic at a level harmful to health, and there is no doubt that if consumed on a daily basis, it will suffer from chronic arsenic poisoning.

"Looks like there's not just one... you guys, if you know what I'm saying, come out here"

I tried not to order them, and the slimes that were in the reservoir aligned themselves in front of me.

"You're a very discerning and well-behaved bunch of people... All right, let's take an appraisal"

[Race] Arsenic Slime

[Status] Dungeon Monster in Dungeon "Abandoned Pit of Reprimination"

[Features] Slime with high resistance to arsenic. Food containing arsenic is taken from the surrounding environment and accumulated arsenic in the body is flown as a venom or used as a venom for predators. The growth rate is slightly slower than normal slime, but this is not the case if you consume demonic stones, etc.

Hmmm...... were you still there, Arsenic Eater. If we reproduce this guy and let him go around, we can recover the arsenic that escaped from the environment, right? Let's try it anyway. Even if the recovery is inefficient, it would be possible to purify contaminated water over a long period of time, and it would likely be used as a dungeon monster. There's a part of Slime that looks weak just at first glance that actually leads to my kids being vicious poisonous. It's a feeling of intimacy. Well...

"Are you the only Arsenic Slime here?... are there a few other places?... Ok. In the meantime, I'll give you the Demon Stone. Don't hesitate to absorb it and reproduce more and more numbers. Once we've built an access route to the underground waterway, we'll have the arsenic leaked outside this dungeon recovered... Oh, for arsenic in the dungeon, there's no need to be so snug and recovered. Ning, I want you to keep this dungeon as a defense."

I can communicate with Arsenic Slime with the effect of obedient magic without any problems. I also know some of the emotional swings of the slimes... why are they all aligned and stiff.

Crowe's dictionary has had pages called "General" or "Normal" or "Common Sense" for a long time now, and he has not been able to weigh in on the confusion of the Arsenic Slimes. If you give about fifteen Demon Stones - sized to be rated "big grain" if you go to a regular (...) Adventurer's Guild - with about as many thumbs for a five- to six-headed slime, then it's normal to be rigid. It is several times the size of the Demon Stone that the Slimes have in their bodies.

"... Well, I'm not telling you to eat it right now - the slimes are snorting hard - absorb it appropriately and get big and strong. The future of this dungeon and the surrounding environment depends on you."

Has one slime ever set such expectations and been directed straight from the Dungeon Master? The Arsenic Slimes shook with emotion. And for their allies, they were strongly determined to grow and multiply anything.

"Ruler of the Dungeon" Crowe. Not aware, but he was quite human and demonic.

"Orph, is it possible to create a route that will allow the slimes to access the groundwaterway in a range that is presumably arsenic contaminated… with the current amount of magic?"

Olf answers Crowe's query, saying he can afford it.

"So... we don't need to hurry, so can you open an access route?

"Yes, Master Crowe. Is this decontamination of the groundwater system?

"Oh, I want to recover as much arsenic as possible that leaks around me, and by contrast, the amount of arsenic in this dungeon - to the extent that it is harmless to the health of the monsters - should be increased. Well, as it stands, there won't be enough Arsenic Slime, and we don't need to rush that."

"Let's build it upfront just for those on the route. The slimes seem excited, and I think they'll decontaminate a lot sooner than you think, right?

"Really? But I repeat, don't ever push me, don't make me."

"Yes, sir."

It was in the middle of December that the aroused Arsenic Slimes took on decontamination by citing their total strength. By March of the following year, to a considerable extent, contamination by arsenic had dropped to levels that could be ignored.
