Elf Tensei Kara no Cheat Kenkoku-ki
Episode III: The Elite Troop, Iraksa
It was only a few days after I decided to organize an elite unit. As for the crew, they were invited to volunteer and decided to choose from among them, which is well known. Today, all applicants are to be assembled and selected.
I'm eating the soft bread that Lucier baked me for lunch at my house trying to help me prepare for that big job.
Lucier's bread tastes better than my baked bread with wonder. I'm not supposed to be losing technically...... thanks to a seasoning called love? When I was thinking about that, all of a sudden Lucier opened his mouth.
"Cyril, I volunteer for an elite unit that Cyril is trying to collect."
There is a light of determination in my eyes.
After all, I thought Lucier would say that. Instead, it's as strange as it sounds that I didn't bring up that topic until today.
"To be honest, I don't want Lucier to volunteer"
"Yeah. I know how Cyril feels. But I volunteer."
"Then I'll drop it on my authority."
"Is that because I'm unfit?
I couldn't answer that word.
I don't know how to say it's aptitude, but Lucier definitely has talent. The elusive [perceptual dilation] is in a matter of months, and the bow arms are top notch among Elsiers.
[Physical enhancement] I can probably do it if I tell you. Unlike other elves, you don't even need to use the back wax.
"I wish I wasn't strong enough to choose. I would be angry if I refused for any other reason. I'm gonna hate Cyril."
"... I don't have a problem with my abilities. But let me tell you how I feel, I don't want Lucier to do anything dangerous."
"I want to fight with you to reduce Cyril's danger."
"I'm glad to hear that. But I don't like the scratches on Lucier's beautiful skin, and I don't like the fact that Lucier works out too much and gets weird muscles. I don't like walking too far and deforming my toenails, and if I put them in full training, I'll have less time to see them. First, it is bad for health, gloss of hair, and skin. I don't like it all."
"Cyril is surprisingly fine."
Lucier said, smiling bitterly at my remarks.
I get a little fever and say weird things and I get embarrassed.
"That's all I like about Lucier. I'll tell you what, that's what I mean by fighting for. If you want to be happy as a girl, you better not be."
"Cyril, if, like Cyril said, my skin gets scratched, my muscles get on, my toenails get weird, do you hate me?
"That can't be right"
I'll give you an instant answer. I love Lucier's appearance, but that's just one of her few attractions. Just because that's damaged, there's no way you're gonna hate it.
"Then I volunteer. This is because I've already made up my mind."
Lucier's as stubborn as ever.
"I don't want Cyril to tell me."
Stubborn people laugh at each other bitterly.
If both Lucier and I decide to do this ourselves, we'll never break it.
I decided that if Lucier became a member of an elite unit, I would care with all my witchcraft and knowledge to protect Lucier's beautiful body.
"Okay. Then I'll make a proper and fair choice. I know Lucier knows that, too, but I'll gather the hopefuls this afternoon and pick twenty from them. Fairness means that if there are more talented people than Lucier, I will relentlessly drop them. Be prepared for that."
"Yeah, I know"
"And Lucier is disadvantaged just because she's a woman. I want you to think it's getting a little harder to pick."
"Is that a matter of Cyril's preference?
I shake my head to the side.
"After all, women have inferior basic health to men. I have a period and I am not feeling well. Sometimes it's easier to unify the gender of a team because you don't have to worry about anything. There will also be more prolonged outdoor operations. For example, it's easier to use the bathroom or change clothes, just men."
"Yeah, still, you're not zero chance of being chosen, are you?
"Right. Not zero."
Having said that, I thought that if I were to choose fairly, I would have to choose Lucier. Her talent is great enough to overshadow such a disadvantage. Snipers and scouts sometimes have a relatively difficult job title to handle their health.
After that, we finished lunch without talking about the elite troops.
◇
In the village square, quite a few elves were gathered.
The Firefoxes are not here because they have nothing to do with electing an elite unit.
"Guys, you've come together a lot. Even though it was a dangerous role, I didn't think there were so many applicants so far. Thanks."
I say hello a step higher than the other elves.
There are forty-one applicants on the spot and about three times as many wild horses as there are.
I can afford to come and see this in winter because I don't have a job. Some of the applicants also looked like Lucier. Other standouts are the faces of the vigilante led by Loreau.
The vigilantes are used to rough things, and they work out their bodies from day to day. He's the most powerful candidate.... Still, if you don't have the talent to be valued, you have to drop it relentlessly.
"Chief, I heard you'd make your selection if you exceeded the prescribed number, but how are you going to make your choice"
"It's my arbitrariness and prejudice. The first condition is whether or not you have the aptitude for witchcraft that is essentially elite, so you sift it."
Specifically, [perceptual dilation] whether this works well. If you can't use this, you're not much different from humans. Because we can work out impossible maneuvers for humans, we can poke behind them and give them effect.
"Chief, do you know that?"
"It's easy to tell. Just now, but I'm going into the selection. Everybody get in line."
The tension around me increases all at once in my words.
There are three main motives for the aspirations of the members here.
The first is purely the desire to protect Elsier with one's own hands.
The second is that you want to be as strong as I am. I believe you can get strength like me if you put me in an elite unit. This is especially common with young men.... That's the only thing that makes me strong.
Third, the slightly evil feeling of wanting to get close to me. I got it. It means you'll have more contact with me if you join an elite unit. I guess I'm going to be the Second Lady for the love of God. I still lay low on all the elves about Ku.
In doing so, the aspirants were finishing up in a row.
"Thank you all for lining up. Let's get started. Let's start with the primary review."
I slap the shoulder of the leading man in line. The man is the second typical motive, a young man who came with the will to be strong. I have a busy look on my face.
Work on the wind mana. Move the noisy wind mana and make it glimmer in front of the man.
But a man doesn't react in any way.
"Fail"
"What, wait, why now?"
"You didn't hear the wind, did you?
"What!? I know what you're talking about..."
"Next."
I don't have time, so I'll break up the conversation on the way. Next. Next up is one of Loreau's vigilantes. He's a very short-haired man in his early thirties.
Beat your shoulder and make a noise of wind mana just like you did earlier. Unlike the first man, he showed it exactly in reaction to the wind movement.
"Passed"
The successful candidate directs them to another column. He did hear the wind.
It is terribly difficult to teach [perceptual dilation] to what this voice cannot hear. That is why it is assumed that this can be heard.
Of the forty-one, twenty-three heard the wind. If it was an elf, I thought it was more proportional but half suddenly fell off in the primary test.
And the trouble is, there are about seven women. This prevented me from choosing not to choose Lucier because she was a woman.
A man alone can't beat a predetermined number.
"Wait a minute! I'm not convinced. How could we be less than the girls there!
'Cause I can't hear the wind.'
"That's why I don't know what that means!
If you look closely, it's not just the man with his voice up, he's shaking his head vertically so that the fallout group agrees with the word.
Right, you don't know what you're saying so far...
"Then let's put it into practice"
I turned my back on the protesting man.
"I'm turning around. Throw me a thoughtful stone from behind. I don't care if the five of us do it."
"No, if you do that, the chief will"
"Just do it. You want to convince me, don't you?
At the same time, I work on wind mana and expand [perceptual dilation]. Share the wind and perception and perceive the information 300 m around you.
My blind spot gets zero where the air is.
"Don't resent me!
And including the man. Several men who have lost their vote throw pebbles at us.
Without even looking back on it, I will be easy.
Around one or five throws, the stone rain stopped.
"That's what I mean by hearing the wind. The wind tells us everything. I just tapped my shoulder, whispered into the wind, and tried to see if I could hear that voice."
"... what the chief did now means we won't get it if we try, but those kids will be able to do it"
"That's right. If you want to correct one thing, take the time and you'll be able to do it. But we don't have time for the Empire to attack us. I want to pick someone who I hope to remember soon."
"... then you have no choice. Sir, I'm sorry I put your ass on."
"No, I'm sorry, too. I'm sorry you volunteered."
At the end of the word, the fallen group left.
Might not have given me enough consideration either. Whatever the purpose, he's a compatriot who told me he'd fight for his life against the Empire for Elsier. I had to be gentler.
"Well, then, let's make a secondary selection."
As a secondary review, a brief physical examination was carried out, which ended up being the prescribed twenty by dropping three of the seven remaining female elves.
Again, men seem to prevail in terms of health.
And, naturally, Lucier remains using magic in the tunnels from day to day to train his body.
Of the twenty, ten are quite comforting in the face of the vigilante, including Loreu, this would be easier than working together from scratch.
The other ten have many young elves. I guess younger people are still more willing to fight.
Among the young elves were familiars such as Lec and Shty, who were childhood friendlies, and, surprisingly, even Conna, a plain girl, who was with Lucier somehow. I'm not really a kid who goes out to places like this, so I'm curious.
"I didn't think Conna was coming. What kind of wind is that?"
"Ah, Master Cyril. Uh, well, my friend asked me to stay with Cyril."
"What about that friend?
"I fell in the primary review......"
I see, passive, she comes as she is recommended by her friends. Are you telling me you've passed just yourself?
The wind's voice is properly heard, and surprisingly, it has strength. But it won't go on with the motivation that people have told me to come. This place...
"Dear Cyril! Shit, it's not. Sure, it's the trigger, but it's not forced or no, it's me, I'm ready to die, and I'm serious. I like Elsier now. Not the old Elf village, but the Elsier now. So I want to protect it properly. That feeling, it's true!
The moment I tried to recommend resignation. Conna releases words like a machine gun in a great panic.
I smile.
It's an awkward word, but I'm glad to hear her mean it.
"I'm glad you think so. I have hard training, and the battlefield is hell. But if you feel that way, you'll be fine."
"Ha! I'll do my best"
Conna makes a fist grip and snorts his nose rough. Even a less cute girl looks attractive at times like this is strange.
I'll wave to Conna and break up and go to the center of the square.
"Guys, listen up. Twenty of us here will be shields and swords to protect Elsier."
Since the two Firefoxes are separate frames, they will be these twenty as a standing army.
"From now on, we'll all have a life just to be strong. Conversely, nothing else is allowed."
From now on, they grow crops and hunt. You will abandon that ever productive life and live just to kill it.
"Normal life is supported by everyone else. That's why I don't want you to see me. You guys get stronger. I'll be strong. And strength gives birth to arrogance. But remember, that strength is the strength that Elsier gave me."
I myself almost lost myself to my power over and over again.
"On top of that, when things happen, I want you to come forward faster than anyone else, and wave the full strength you've all gotten. That's your raison d 'être.
Put your hands on my chest if you're comfortable with my words. Final confirmation. Once this is over, there will be no going back. I want you to respond with that intention. "
All twenty put their hands on their chests.
I'm sure everything I said hasn't been conveyed.
Still believe that one day it will turn into a feeling of reality.
"I received everyone's readiness. Now you will be Elsier's elite troops. The name is Iraksa. From now on, act with pride and awareness that you are Irraxa."
I whispered and twinkled the name Irraxa to each of us, and I laughed proudly.
