Chapter 316: Immense Reward And Mystic Code Generator
Caelus’s vision blurred as the arena slowly faded around him.
His body ached from head to toe, every muscle screaming in protest. Blood still leaked from the corners of his eyes, and his hands trembled against the cracked stone floor.
But then, warmth spread through his chest.
The familiar pulse of his Ascended Body kicked in, knitting torn muscle fibers back together and sealing ruptured blood vessels. The fractures along his bones mended one by one, each repair sending a faint ripple of heat across his skin.
His breathing steadied, his vision sharpened.
Within seconds, the damage from the Half-Dragon Transformation had almost completely healed. His regeneration was no joke.
Caelus exhaled slowly and sat up, rolling his shoulders. His body still felt heavy, but the pain was gone.
Then a notification appeared.
[Your party achieved the highest contribution.]
[Calculating rewards...]
[+15 Levels]
[Awakening Stone (SS-Rank)]
[Ascension Token]
[Random Generator (Skill or Trait)]
[Mystic Code Generator (Skill)]
Caelus’s eyes lit up the moment he finished reading the list.
Five rewards, and every single one of them looked insane.
His gaze locked onto the Awakening Stone first. SS-Rank meant it could unlock a high-tier ability from his Chaos Dragon bloodline, something he had been waiting for.
Then his eyes moved to the Ascension Token.
[Ascension Token: Allows the holder to bypass the Ascension Quest and immediately advance to the next rank.]
Caelus’s lips curled slightly before the excitement faded.
King Rank.
He could reach King Rank with this token, but advancement wasn’t just about the player. His town had barely developed past its current stage, and the rules were clear.
A player’s rank was tied to the growth of their town or kingdom.
Without meeting the town’s required conditions, the token was useless for now. He tucked it away in his inventory without hesitation. It wasn’t going anywhere.
His attention shifted to the next reward.
[Random Generator (Skill or Trait): Generates one random Skill or Trait of varying rarity.]
Good skills, good traits, that was all he needed.
And if the result turned out to be garbage, he could always convert it into a sellable Token using his Reforge Reclamation passive and list it online for Origin Credits.
Either way, he won.
But then, a thought struck him.
Caelus’s fingers stopped mid-scroll.
The Gacha Wheel.
He had extracted it from Mason during their fight, and he hadn’t used it since. The wheel could multiply any single reward with a random multiplier, but the risk was real.
A 0× result meant losing the item entirely.
Caelus stared at the Random Generator for a long moment.
"One generator is fine," he muttered. "But why settle for one?"
He pulled the Gambling Wheel from his inventory and placed the Random Generator onto it without a second thought.
The wheel spun.
Colors blurred together as the needle whipped past multiplier after multiplier. 0×, 10×, 50×,100×, 500×, 1,000×.
[Result: 10× Rebate]
[Random Generator (Skill or Trait) × 1 → × 10]
Caelus’s eyes went wide.
"Damn."
A grin spread across his face as ten identical generators materialized in his inventory. He leaned back slightly, the familiar rush of a perfect gamble flooding through him.
"It has been a while since I gambled," he said to himself. "But the thrill is still the same."
Ten chances to pull something incredible. Ten rolls of the dice. His luck today was terrifying.
He set the generators aside for now and turned his attention to the final reward.
[Mystic Code Generator (Skill)]
[Description: Use existing powers you possess to create something far more powerful. Select up to three compatible abilities to merge into a new skill.]
Caelus read the description twice.
His brow lifted slightly.
This wasn’t just a reward, it was a creation tool. The generator wouldn’t invent a completely new concept from nothing. Instead, it would borrow the Mystic Codes of his existing abilities and use them to construct an entirely new one.
Mystic Codes.
He didn’t fully understand what they were, not really. But he knew enough to recognize their importance. Even his Dragon Transformation existed in the form of a Mystic Code.
They were how the Origin Network granted players skills and powers while also mutating their genes, allowing them to wield those abilities in the first place.
Every skill, every trait, every transformation was built on a Mystic Code foundation.
And now he could fuse three of them together.
For a brief moment, he considered placing the Mystic Code Generator on the Gambling Wheel too. After all, he had just hit a 10× Rebate. His luck was running hot.
But then he imagined the needle landing on 0×.
The generator would vanish, and he would be left with nothing.
"No," he said firmly. "Not this one."
Some risks weren’t worth taking.
He activated the Mystic Code Generator.
A long list of compatible abilities unfolded before his eyes. Every skill, trait, and power he currently possessed was displayed with glowing text, each one showing its compatibility rating with the others.
Caelus already knew what he wanted.
There was something he had been wanting to try for a while now.
His finger tapped the first selection.
[Gravity Domain — Selected]
Then the second.
[Spatial Power (Partial) — Selected]
And finally, the third.
[Origin Sever — Selected]
[Compatibility Check: All three abilities are fully compatible.]
[Merging Mystic Codes...]
Golden light swirled around the three selected abilities as their Mystic Code structures began to intertwine. The process wasn’t instant. Lines of code-like energy wove together, broke apart, and reformed in new patterns.
Caelus watched with anticipation building in his chest.
The light intensified, then condensed into a single point.
[Ding!]
[New Skill Created]
[Singularity Collapse (Divine, 2-Star)]
[Description: Creates a controllable gravitational singularity at a designated point. The singularity generates overwhelming suction force, pulling enemies and incoming attacks toward its center. Absorbed energy can be stored and redirected as a concentrated blast, or compressed into a devastating point-blank explosion. The singularity does not consume matter passively and can be dismissed at will.]
Caelus read the description three times.
A controllable black hole.
It could pull enemies in, swallow their attacks, and then fire everything back at them. Or he could let the pressure build and detonate it all at once.
Defense, offense, and crowd control wrapped into a single skill.
His lips curved into a satisfied grin. This was exactly what he needed.
He closed the skill window and turned to the Awakening Stone.
[Awakening Stone (SS-Rank): Awakens a dormant ability within the user’s bloodline or race.]
Caelus held the glowing stone in his palm, ready to channel it into his Chaos Dragon bloodline. There were still several dormant abilities locked within him, and an SS-Rank stone could reach deep.
But just as he was about to use it, a new notification flashed.
[Special Limited-Time Combo Offer]
[Buy 1, Get 1 Free]
[Awakening the Trait "Chaos Flames" will grant the matching Skill "Chaos Ring" at no additional cost.]
Caelus froze.
His hand hovered over the stone as he stared at the notification in disbelief.
A buy one, get one free deal.
From the Origin Network.
He blinked twice, his mouth opening slightly before closing again. His brain tried to process what he was seeing, but the words didn’t change no matter how many times he read them.
"What is this, a shopping mall?" he muttered.
He shook his head and checked the details of the offered Trait.
[Chaos Flames (Divine, 2-Star): The primordial flames born from Chaos Axiom Energy. Capable of destroying nearly anything, including irregularities and corrupted entities. Burns through physical and magical defenses alike.]
Flames that could destroy almost anything, even irregularities.
His eyes drifted to the accompanying Skill.
[Chaos Ring]
Caelus’s gaze sharpened.
"Is this the same Chaos Ring I had back in the Abyss?" he whispered. "There is only one way to find out."
He already possessed a Trait Slot Rune from an earlier reward, which expanded his maximum equippable Traits from one to two.
He activated the Awakening Stone and selected Chaos Flames.
Golden energy surged from the stone and sank into his body. Heat erupted through his veins, not painful but intense, like swallowing a star. His bloodline responded eagerly, a dormant chain within his Chaos Dragon genes snapping awake.
[Ding!]
[Trait Awakened: Chaos Flames]
[Bonus Skill Acquired: Chaos Ring]
He equipped Chaos Flames immediately, then opened the Chaos Ring description.
[Chaos Ring (Secret, 2-Star)]
[Description: Allows the user to create physical constructs using Chaos Axiom Energy. Constructs include weapons, barriers, chains, platforms, and any shape the user can visualize. Every construct possesses the innate property of Chaos Erosion.]
[Chaos Erosion: Enemies in contact with Chaos constructs continuously lose HP and MP. Afflicted targets also take increased damage from all sources for the duration of the effect.]
Caelus’s smile widened.
"It’s like Sanguine Genesis," he said. "Interesting."
Continuous HP and MP drain combined with a damage amplification debuff. Paired with his existing abilities, the synergy was terrifying.
But the reward that interested him most right now was something else entirely.
He closed every window and pulled up the level reward.
[+15 Levels claimed.]
[Level 35 → Level 50]
Power flooded into his body like a tidal wave.
His muscles tightened, his senses sharpened, and every cell in his body hummed with new strength. The jump from 35 to 50 wasn’t small, it was the difference between mid-tier and peak Elite Rank.
His Combat Score updated as the levels stacked in.
[Combat Score: 147.12 → 192.12 (Elite Rank)]
Each level added 3 points, stacking cleanly across all fifteen levels.
But that wasn’t all.
Another notification caught his eye, one he hadn’t noticed until now.
[Chaos Dragon Body has calibrated to Master Rank.]
[+25 Combat Score]
[Combat Score: 1.92 → 26.92 (Master Rank)]
His Half-Dragon Transformation during the trial must have triggered it. The sheer output of that form had forced his Chaos Dragon Body to evolve, pushing it to a higher calibration.
He hadn’t even thought about it until this moment. It was good thing transformation did it for him because he rarely checked his status.
