Chapter 554 - 510: Regent of the First Civilization Cosmic Country
Some pseudo-gods wanted a "child" from Shi Ming.
Others coveted his "body."
Still others wanted to use the final upheaval to once again try and seize the "opportunities" deep within the Tomb Star Realm.
And then there were those who, while appearing aloof, wanted everything.
Meanwhile, the ’Friend of the Secret,’ Amonif, had a plan of her own. She and her younger sister, Ali, had returned to her Divine Country, the Sea of Fallen Stars. It was a lonely, secret place—a space belonging exclusively to the two sisters, a place that not even fate itself could peer into.
Amonif spoke, her cool voice creating a subtle echo in the Sea of Fallen Stars.
"I see. Perhaps by the time we last spoke, he had already learned the Civilization Prologue and left the legacy space. But to have analyzed the source text on those twelve stone slabs so quickly... his mental threshold must be unimaginably high."
"I thought as much."
Ali agreed with Amonif’s speculation.
The Civilization Prologue was no ordinary text. Merely deciphering the meaning of certain characters required immense computational power and mental capacity. To fully master its source text—to reach the point of intuitive understanding and application—would normally take two to three years, even with the twelve legacy stone tablets as a guide. A gifted individual might shorten that time slightly, but it would be nearly impossible to cut a three-year curriculum in half, let alone by more.
For Shi Ming to learn it and leave in such a short time was one thing. But he had also advanced from Legendary to Nirvana rank, obtained a Divine Rune, and become the sole surviving Heir of the Gods in that same period. His fortune was simply terrifying.
’Could he have actually discovered and obtained what Bertutan was planning on that planet?’
’If Bertutan finds out, he will never rest until one of them is dead...’
Amonif looked at her younger sister, a hint of softness entering her cool tone.
"Whether he stole Bertutan’s prize or not, the moment the title ’Heir of the Gods’ appeared, they became irreconcilable enemies. Bertutan has long considered himself a god and lives by a divine creed. Now that a true heir has emerged, he will never tolerate his existence, even if Shi Ming seems completely harmless. Uncle Tian is the same, though he’s more focused on tangible opportunities. The Time Giant, Candela, might have other ideas. As we both know, his ability to see so many fates makes him the most dangerous one. As for Huang Ji, nothing is more important to her than perfect genes. With her personality, she has likely been plotting from the very beginning."
Amonif’s analysis of the other four New Gods’ personalities was remarkably accurate.
Though Ali hadn’t interacted with them much, she largely agreed. Her starlight gown shimmered as a complex emotion flickered across her face—a mixture of curiosity, resignation, and even a hint of pity.
"What awful luck. To become the Heir of the Gods only to provoke four beings who stand at the apex of the Star Sea—the most ancient of the New Gods... If they were to join forces, even we would struggle to escape their encirclement, despite our command of the secret. This Shi Ming... his path forward will be incredibly difficult!"
"Not necessarily."
Amonif shook her head.
The path of the strong is never easy.
"Oh?"
"First, the Heir of the Gods possesses unique privileges that surpass our own. This will help compensate for the gap in power. Second, there must be secrets on that azure planet that even we are not fully aware of. Otherwise, how could a cosmic newcomer like him have avoided Bertutan’s senses, reached the core of the Primordial Star before us, and bonded with its nascent will? At the very least, his safety is more or less guaranteed within the Tomb Star Realm."
"Let’s hope he keeps a low profile until he’s fully grown. So, what should we do, Sister?"
"We’ll let things unfold naturally. I have a feeling the First Civilization Cosmic Country will soon reappear in the Star Sea. When it does, experts from countless Cosmic Countries, as well as the realms of chaos, will flock here to unearth its lost relics and treasures. We will need to make our own moves in that regard."
"Treasures? Sister, you’ve reached such a high level. What kind of treasure could possibly catch your eye?"
Ali was confused.
The New Gods already stood at the absolute pinnacle of power.
Her sister was one of the five most ancient New Gods and had no clan to worry about. While treasures held a fatal allure for less experienced beings, Amonif had always remained discreet and secretive, rarely showing interest in any particular opportunities or riches.
"A Divine Treasure Vault is, of course, no ordinary thing."
"It contains treasures that would tempt even me, Bertutan, and Candela. However, when it comes to exchanging for items in the Divine Treasure Vault, all beings are treated as equals. There is only one special currency that can be used: the Civilization Stone. Once a Civilization Stone leaves the domain of the First Civilization Cosmic Country, it completely dissipates. Because of this, Civilization Stones do not exist anywhere in the Star Sea today, except within the Tomb Star Realm."
"Even I will have to make a move."
Ali understood.
’She hadn’t experienced the feeling of starting from scratch in many years,’
’Of course, for powerful beings like them who controlled immense resources, they could build a fortune from nothing in no time at all.’
"I’m very curious. What is this treasure that has even you intrigued?"
"Its name is The Unwritten Epic."
...
...
...
After submitting all his commissions, in addition to a large quantity of Civilization Stones, Shi Ming now possessed three universal titles.
Heir of the Gods
Hero of the Stone
Regent of the First Civilization Cosmic Country
An individual could only equip one title at a time.
If the title "Heir of the Gods" was equivalent to the heir of a Cosmic Country, and "Hero of the Stone" was like its savior, then "Regent of the First Civilization Cosmic Country" represented the supreme controller and administrator of this Star Domain in the absence of a god. Although he was a general with no army, the title of "Regent" was clearly a tier above "Heir."
It also granted Shi Ming four privileges.
1. The Regent can establish or modify the fundamental laws of the Cosmic Country, which are then carried out by the will of the Cosmic Country. However, legislation must be done with caution. For now, Shi Ming could only make minor adjustments, as the nascent will of the Cosmic Country would struggle to implement any drastic reforms.
2. The Regent can regulate the Cosmic Country’s trade rules, currency issuance, and tax policies.
3. The Regent can manage the operational strategies of the Cosmic Country’s three foundational facilities—the Divine Treasure Vault, the Mercenary Terminal, and the Teleportation Vortex—but cannot interfere with their fundamental operating logic.
4. The Regent has the right to create universal titles from rank A to K. This includes designing the titles, setting their corresponding privileges, and bestowing them upon individuals.
