Chapter 62: Love Letter
With the heavy double doors clicked shut, the room fell into a peaceful stillness.
I took a slow step back, looking around Sarah’s private command office. Even though it was technically a temporary administrative suite set up inside a newly erected building, Sarah had clearly left her personal touch on the space.
A faint scent of warm vanilla and fresh coffee lingered in the air. A plush throw blanket was neatly folded over the armrest of the leather sofa, a couple of elegant potted succulents sat on the windowsill, and soft, warm lighting illuminated the room instead of the harsh, buzzing fluorescent lights found in the hallways.
It felt surprisingly cozy and relaxing, almost like a quiet sanctuary completely cut off from the frantic noise of the construction site outside.
’I’m willing to bet Yerin influenced her to make it this cozy,’ I thought with a fond smile. Knowing how chaotic and clingy my pop-star girlfriend could be, she probably barged into Sarah’s office on day one, complained about the cold corporate vibes, and refused to leave until Sarah caved and brought in plush cushions.
I really liked this office. It was a nice place to just sit back and breathe.
I pulled out my smartphone, opening a fresh note document to start jotting down lyric ideas. But staring at the glowing screen and typing with my thumbs just felt... wrong. It felt too detached, too mechanical for something meant to carry genuine emotion.
Pushing myself up from the leather sofa, I decided to look around for an actual pen and paper.
[Oho?] Paige’s playful voice instantly chimed in my head, buzzing with helpful energy. [What’s wrong, Host? Do you need me to download the Legendary Divine Songwriter Masterclass package directly into your brain? I can make you write a Grammy-winning masterpiece in three seconds flat.]
’Thanks, Paige, but I’m gonna pass on this one,’ I replied mentally, sliding open a wooden side drawer near the desk.
[Wait, really?!] Paige sounded genuinely shocked. [You took the system help for cooking and dance choreography, but you’re rejecting god-tier lyric authority?! Why?]
I paused, looking at the empty drawer before opening another.
’Because songs hold a very special place in my heart, Paige, I explained quietly. ’Back when I was working eighty-hour weeks, exhausted out of my mind and living in a tiny, cramped room... music was one of the few things that kept me going. Working out at the gym kept me physically alive, but listening to good songs kept me mentally alive.’
I chuckled softly at myself. ’I know I’m not a musical genius or anything. I don’t understand complex music theory or deep poetic symbolism. But I genuinely love music. And right now... I don’t want a system algorithm writing this. I want to write a song for Yerin straight from my own heart.’
’There was a brief silence in my mind before Paige let out a soft giggle, her virtual tone melting into pure, fond affection.
[Aww~ Look at you being such a sweet, devoted lover! Fine, fine! I’ll hold off on the god-tier songwriting authority and let you write your little love letter! But I’m still listening!]
’Fair enough,’ I smiled.
Crouching down to check the lower cabinets beneath the massive wooden executive desk for a notepad, my eyes suddenly caught something sitting on a small shelf near the back corner.
I blinked, taking a closer look.
It was a piece of delicate, silky black lace specifically, an extraordinarily luxurious black lace sexy bra, neatly folded and tucked beside a spare pair of high heels.
[I froze in my crouch, my mind taking half a second to process the sight. ’Well... I guess I definitely know who that belongs to.
[OHO?!] Paige’s voice erupted in my head, practically cackling with unfiltered delight. [Look at that craftsmanship! Look at the structure! Host, based on spatial volume calculations, that beauty is AT LEAST an E-cup!]
I swallowed dryly, my imagination instantly going rogue as a vivid mental image of Sarah’s voluptuous figure wearing that exact black lace bra flashed through my mind. ’Man... holding those would feel absolutely incredible...’
Realizing where my thoughts were wandering, I shook my head firmly, snapping myself out of the trance as I pushed myself back to my feet.
"Should I just pivot and write a song about how heavenly boobs are?" I mumbled dryly, wiping a hand over my face.
[ Oh, soft and round, sacred mounds of joy~] Paige instantly burst into a terrible, ridiculously dramatic operatic melody inside my head. [ Heavy in my hands, a heavenly toy~!!]
’Paige, shut up,’ I deadpanned mentally, completely ignoring her sudden vocal performance as I finally spotted a leather-bound notepad and a sleek black gel pen resting on the top shelf of a nearby bookcase.
Grabbing the pen and paper, I walked back over to the sofa, sinking deep into the leather cushions.
For the first fifteen minutes, I didn’t even try to write a proper song. I just let my hands move, scribbling random words, scattered rhymes, and disorganized thoughts across the white paper to warm up my brain.
"Late nights... bright lights... walking under the rain... surviving..."
I tore off the first three pages of messy drafts, crumbling them into loose paper balls and tossing them onto the coffee table.
Taking a deep, calming breath, I leaned my head back against the cushion and closed my eyes. I let the quiet peace of Sarah’s office wash over me, clearing my mind of distractions until I felt completely immersed in the mood.
Plugging my earphones into my phone, I hit play on the first instrumental composition Yerin had sent over.
A rich, sweeping melody filled my ears. It started with a soft, melancholic piano line before swelling into a powerful, rhythmic pop-ballad beat, carrying a sense of love, deep nostalgia, and underlying hope.
Listening to the cadence and tempo repeat a few times, a warm smile touched my lips.
My eyes eyes widened, "This...this is perfect for a love letter. My love letter to her."
