Chapter 1202: A Word in Private 6
"I’m fine, I just need some rest. Chen Yao, you’re so busy with work, there’s no need for you to come!"
Bai Chenyao’s gaze was deep and shadowed, his expression distant and cold.
"It’s what I should do."
Mu Qinghan understood what Bai Chenyao meant. If it weren’t because of Mu Tiantian, how could he, Bai Chenyao, possibly appear in his, Mu Qinghan’s, hospital room.
The Mu Family and the Bai Family had practically cut off contact more than twenty years ago because of Zhang Xiaozhi.
All these years, because of that incident, when it came to the marriage between Bai Chenyao and the Mu Family’s child, both families had basically chosen to act like they knew nothing.
No one expected that the Bai Family’s youngest son and the Mu Family’s youngest granddaughter would end up together, and it was said that the engagement had been decided by the Bai Family’s youngest son himself back then.
Looking at Bai Chenyao, Mu Qinghan’s gaze slowly dropped to Mu Tian Tian standing beside him, a faint, dark light flickering in his eyes.
"Tian Tian, I want to talk with Chen Yao. You wait outside."
Although Tian Tian was surprised, she instinctively looked at Bai Chenyao. Seeing him give a slight nod, she obediently agreed.
"Oh, then I’ll go out. You two take your time."
When she walked out, Tian Tian noticed something: it seemed that every time she was with Bai Chenyao, it always ended with the people around her wanting to talk to Bai Chenyao, and she was the one being asked to leave.
Her grandmother was like that, her uncle was like that, and now it was her grandfather’s turn.
Just what exactly were they talking about?
Standing outside the door, Tian Tian suddenly had the urge to eavesdrop.
It wasn’t very moral, but she couldn’t help her curiosity.
"Mrs. Bai, may I have a word with you?"
Still hesitating about whether to eavesdrop, Tian Tian suddenly heard a somewhat familiar voice behind her. When she turned around and saw Cheng Junhua with his gentle smile and spirited expression, she froze a little.
"Doctor Cheng?"
Cheng Junhua looked at Tian Tian with a smile. There was a certain mildness between his brows; it seemed he’d always worn this smiling expression.
"Mrs. Bai, may I have a word with you?"
Tian Tian blinked and glanced at the door of the ward.
Watching her movements, Cheng Junhua couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Mr. Bai and Mr. Mu may be talking for a while. It’s a bit of a waste of time for you to just wait here. Why don’t we have a good chat instead?"
Tian Tian felt there really wasn’t much for her and Cheng Junhua to talk about, unless it was about Cheng Junnan.
The moment she thought of Cheng Junnan, Tian Tian subconsciously frowned.
"Is it because of President Cheng?"
Clearly, Cheng Junhua hadn’t expected Tian Tian to be so direct. He was briefly stunned, then smiled again, his manner gentle and natural, nodding with elegant composure.
"Yes. Ever since he met you, my brother’s been... not quite the same as before. And no matter what I say now, he won’t listen anymore."
"As they say, ’whoever tied the bell must untie it.’ I hope Mrs. Bai can, for the sake of my brother’s feelings for you, have a talk with me."
Tian Tian: "..."
If Cheng Junhua had said he hoped she would talk to him for the sake of the fact that Cheng Junnan had saved her twice, she might have felt a little uncomfortable.
Even though that was clearly the truth.
But Cheng Junhua didn’t mention at all that Cheng Junnan had saved her twice. Instead, he talked about Cheng Junnan’s feelings for her, which made Tian Tian feel somewhat awkward.
"Doctor Cheng, I—"
"Mrs. Bai, my office is right over there. I can keep an eye on what’s happening in this ward at any time. As soon as Mr. Bai comes out, you can head right back."
Tian Tian followed the direction of Cheng Junhua’s gaze and saw that, sure enough, there was an open door not far away, through which she could even see the desk inside.
