Maybe because she’d been running around all day, plus that mental duel with the kidnappers, after Mu Tiantian showered and washed up and climbed into bed, she’d originally picked up a book to read, but before she knew it, she’d fallen asleep.
When Bai Chenyao finished his work and came in, he saw the bedroom light was still on, and on the absurdly large bed lay a tiny little person.
Maybe because he wasn’t there, Mu Tiantian was hugging a pillow to her chest, and one of her feet was restlessly pressing on the quilt, like a child.
Standing at the doorway, Bai Chenyao instinctively lightened his steps.
After closing the door, he walked slowly to the bedside, leaned down slightly, and looked at the soundly sleeping Mu Tiantian. His gaze swept past her slightly curled lashes, then slowly slid down, over her small, straight nose, and finally landed on her soft, pink lips.
A trace of gentleness he himself didn’t notice flashed through his dark, deep eyes. Bai Chenyao reached out, lightly brushed Mu Tiantian’s tender lips, then bent down and kissed her on the forehead, before straightening up, turning around, and heading into the bathroom.
On the bed, Mu Tiantian’s brows knit slightly and she let out a soft hum.
All around was pitch-black, and Mu Tiantian felt a little panicked inside. She had no idea how she’d ended up here, and this kind of pitch darkness made her especially uneasy.
It seemed like she was in a stairwell, but it was also empty around her, not that kind of enclosed stairwell, more like the staircase in a duplex.
She placed her feet down especially lightly; Mu Tiantian didn’t even dare make the slightest sound, afraid she’d draw out some scene that would make her faint on the spot.
Feeling her way along the handrail on the stairs, Mu Tiantian went up step by cautious step.
When she finally finished climbing the stairs, she saw a faint glimmer of light streaming in from a window not far ahead.
Mu Tiantian almost instinctively walked toward it, not even looking at her surroundings, only thinking about reaching the light as soon as possible.
Her foot suddenly caught; Mu Tiantian’s whole body pitched forward. She thought she was going to smash her face up, but instead of cold hard floor, what met her was something soft.
Beyond the softness, there was a familiar warmth and resilient muscle.
Her heart gave a jump; Mu Tiantian instinctively called out.

The moment that "A Yao" left her mouth, Mu Tiantian heard a derisive little laugh.
Right after, a weight pressed down on her, and she was pinned underneath someone.
"Look closely. Who am I?"
When she heard that familiar wickedly charming voice, Mu Tiantian felt like she’d fallen straight into an ice cellar, her whole body going rigid in an instant.
Shen Tiancheng!
She hadn’t even had time to speak when her lips were sealed, that utterly invasive kiss instantly taking over all her space.

How could she have run into Shen Tiancheng—absolutely impossible!
Mu Tiantian kept telling herself that, even as she frantically tried to push the man on top of her away.
But no matter how hard she shoved, Shen Tiancheng still forcefully and domineeringly locked his lips over hers. She wanted to fight back, but for some reason her whole body was limp and weak, and she could only let Shen Tiancheng do as he pleased.

"Who am I?"
Refusing to believe any of this, Mu Tiantian forced herself to look at the man in front of her.
The room was completely dark; she couldn’t see anything at all.

With a click, a soft light suddenly came on in the bedroom.
