Chapter 584 - 433: Target: Zheng Yi (Part 2)
Clearly, his strength was much greater than Zheng Yi’s. Yet there was a feeling of not daring to face the other directly.
"Moreover," Zheng Yi spoke again, "don’t you find it strange?"
"What’s strange?" Lin Junrong’s attention was instantly diverted elsewhere.
"Elder Wang told me earlier that Qingzhu Mountain was just a small, somewhat insignificant cultivation sect."
"Even their strongest is their sect leader, Ouyang Qi. But now, such a small sect can actually rival our Star Sea."
"Even though we intended to train our soldiers and didn’t put in full effort initially, isn’t their strength excessively strong?"
"How could there not be an issue here?"
Lin Junrong wasn’t foolish; he was just more concerned about the safety of the Star Sea disciples earlier, so he hadn’t thought in that direction.
Now that Zheng Yi brought it up, he immediately sensed something was wrong.
"It does seem odd. How have they been maintaining such high combat effectiveness for so long?"
"If it was a secret technique that stimulates potential, it definitely couldn’t last this long." He and Zheng Yi had been here for an hour, yet the cultivators of Qingzhu Mountain were still lively.
Saying there’s no problem here, not even ghosts would believe it.
"Thus, we need to observe carefully now." Zheng Yi again focused his attention on the battlefield.
Lin Junrong instinctively prepared to activate the flying shuttle, ready to charge in and capture a few to interrogate.
Zheng Yi’s face changed drastically and he hurriedly stopped Lin Junrong.
"Wait... Elder Lin, don’t be impulsive. Going there now is no different from courting death?"
Lin Junrong’s puzzled gaze landed on Zheng Yi.
"They’ve gone to great lengths to block our Star Sea’s Void Cloud Whale, surely there are experts lying in ambush around, waiting for us to fall for it."
Upon hearing this, Lin Junrong gasped. Though he lacked evidence, he felt what Zheng Yi said was likely correct.
"What to do now?" Perhaps even she hadn’t noticed, as she subconsciously lowered her voice when speaking.
"Don’t worry, time is on our side. Even though the Nether Spirit Race is launching a full attack now, this area is still within our human realm."
"The attackers can’t deploy too much force. I estimate only a few experts are ambushed around."
"Therefore, I’ve deliberately chosen a route that won’t attract much attention to sneak in."
Lin Junrong felt overwhelmed, unable to keep up with Zheng Yi’s train of thought: "How to resolve this?"
"These guys are clearly battling using potential activation, yet their power persists for so long."
"It’s obvious someone is supplying them with necessary power; we should first locate that source."
"Alright, I’ll help you find it." Lin Junrong immediately replied.
"Avoid using magic, or we might alert the enemy." It was always good to have assistance, Zheng Yi didn’t forget to remind Lin Junrong.
"I... understand." Lin Junrong’s usually tough face gained a hint of blush.
If Zheng Yi hadn’t reminded her, she indeed planned to use the Far-seeing Technique to observe the battlefield.
Quickly retracting her magic, she relied on her eyesight to watch carefully.
Despite being female, Lin Junrong quickly found the issue: "Elder Zheng, look, isn’t there something amiss over there?"
Zheng Yi looked towards Lin Junrong’s find, though it was too far to see specific details.
Still, it was certain that Qingzhu Mountain’s cultivators would disappear at that spot, only to suddenly reappear later.
And that’s because they could view the entire battlefield.
From a broader perspective, their actions seemed rather transparent.
Qingzhu Mountain’s cultivators seemed to rotate gradually following the direction of the Sun Dial.
Even though the number of disappearing cultivators each time wasn’t substantial, neither the fighting parties nor Zheng Yi outside the battlefield could detect this easily.
Fortunately, Lin Junrong was there, otherwise, Zheng Yi might have needed another one or two hours to identify the problem.
"Be sure to conceal your aura, let’s first go check out the situation." Zheng Yi decisively led Lin Junrong towards the suspicious location.
To avoid detection, both concealed their aura, using the trees for cover, moving through the forest.
After walking only a short distance, Lin Junrong suddenly stopped, pointing to her right and transmitting to Zheng Yi, "Someone’s there."
Zheng Yi initially wanted to bypass them, but thinking it over, since these people also snuck over, they might actually be allies?
The two silently crept towards the few people Lin Junrong discovered.
As the distance closed, he was surprised to find he had previously encountered those fellows.
There were four of them.
Qiu Ming from Chibi Mountain, Jiangg He from Yingxing Valley, Qiann Wanrong from Ten Thousand Weapons Hall, and a loose cultivator named Zhang Hua.
These people had helped save Star Sea’s disciples before, Lin Junrong had seen them too.
Intending to greet them, she was halted again by Zheng Yi.
Zheng Yi gently shook his head, transmitting to Lin Junrong, "Let’s assess the situation first."
Although they were familiar faces, having previously aided Star Sea.
But judging friend from foe was still premature.
As they walked, the group complained.
"Brother Jiangg, why don’t we just go and start helping directly instead of sneaking?"
"I also feel this is time-consuming, we might arrive only to find it all over by then."
Jiangg He, holding a folding fan, glared at them in frustration: "Brother Zhang told me, the attackers of Star Sea are Qingzhu Mountain people. Since they’ve dared attack Star Sea, they must be thoroughly prepared."
"With our strength, rash assistance might not even qualify as cannon fodder."
Qiann Wanrong grumbled: "Since that’s the case, why are we joining the commotion? Shouldn’t we notify the sect and send experts over?"
Jiangg He sighed and laughed bitterly, "Our sects are far from the Star Sea, even if we notify them, our elders might not arrive in time."
Zhang Hua chuckled, "Actually, I think there’s no need to notify your sects. Star Sea isn’t one of those weak sects, especially with the recent boost from Mr. Zheng’s cultivation technique, their strength vastly improved."
"I feel, considering their own capabilities, they are hardly Star Sea’s match. Our role merely embellishes their success."
The other three rolled their eyes.
Get real about what you’re saying?
Qiu Ming snorted coldly, "By that logic, we hardly need to journey here to support the Star Sea?"
Zhang Hua laughed, "Fellow Daoist Qiu speaks incorrectly. We came to aid Star Sea for our entire human safety, for the righteous cause. Surely we wouldn’t neglect assistance without benefit?"
Qiann Wanrong chuckled, "Indeed, Brother Zhang speaks eloquently. Unfortunately, I am but a common man, hoping Star Sea compensates me generously."
Jiangg He grumbled good-naturedly, "What is Younger Brother Qiann worried about? Last time, after aiding Star Sea in rescuing disciples, they treated us well; this time won’t be different."
"Indeed!" Zhang Hua laughed loudly, "We merely need exert our efforts; I believe just arriving is better than anything."
With that, he winked at the group, a knowing masculine demeanor.
The group burst into subdued laughter.
But as soon as their laughter began, an icy voice interrupted: "Kill him, leave no chance."
The next moment, a line of blood swept across Zhang Hua’s neck, leaving him no time to muster his cultivation in counteraction; he froze.
A thin blood line formed on his throat, droplets of blood seeping out.
Next, like a fountain, blood spurted, propelling Zhang Hua’s head into the air.
Even as the head hit the ground, Zhang Hua’s face remained puzzled, unsure why someone suddenly struck him down with a lethal blow initially.
The sound of the head hitting the ground also snapped Jiangg He and the others from their stupor.
Their eyes turned crimson, teeth gritted in furious roars.
"Who are you to dare to kill our comrade?"
"Finish them, for Zhang Hua’s revenge."
"Zhang Hua..."
Yet when they saw the attacker’s face, their shock rendered them speechless.
"Lin... Elder Lin?" Jiangg He uttered incredulously.
