Her boastful tone made it obvious she was showing off.

Showing off that she had married a wonderful husband—one who was better and more outstanding than Fang Yue in every respect.

"Thank you, Senior Sister." Fang Yue kept his smile.

He wasn’t angry. He knew what kind of person Zhang Shu was, so he didn’t stoop to her level.

Of course, this was also out of respect for Zhang Boyang. Otherwise, Fang Yue wouldn’t have given a self-important woman like Zhang Shu the time of day.

"Hmph. If you ever change your mind, Junior Brother Fang, feel free to come and find me."

Zhang Shu immediately held her head high and strutted off like a victorious rooster.

Fang Yue simply shook his head. ’With a personality like that, she’s bound to get into trouble sooner or later.’

A short while later, Fang Yue found Ms. Chen in the bustling temple fair market, and they ordered lunch from a small stall.

Duck blood vermicelli soup and crispy duck-fat pastries.

Though the flavors weren’t quite as good as in his past life, the food was all-natural and unpolluted, with a unique and excellent taste all its own.

After the meal, Ms. Chen’s enthusiasm was undiminished; she still wanted to look around some more.

Fang Yue didn’t have the heart to leave, so he started wandering around with her again.

He wondered if word of his earlier deeds had already spread through the Goddess Temple, as no more Temple Priests came to ask him for donations.

As they wandered, Fang Yue found himself once again near the entrance to the Goddess Temple’s rear courtyard.

He glanced again at the Moon Sect gate and the two men in yellow robes standing guard before it, still as stone statues.

He sensed something was wrong, but he didn’t want to get involved. Just as he was about to leave, a familiar figure caught his eye.

’Zhang Shu?’

Fang Yue’s eyes narrowed. From the corner of his eye, he saw a Temple Priest in a pale yellow robe supporting Zhang Shu as they headed toward the Moon Sect gate.

Furthermore, from where he stood, he could clearly see that something was wrong with Zhang Shu.

Her eyes were vacant, and she had to rely on the Temple Priest’s support just to walk. Moreover, the serving girl who had been with her earlier was nowhere to be seen.

In the few moments he’d been watching, the Temple Priest and Zhang Shu had already passed through the Moon Sect gate.

’Sigh. Looks like I’ll have to stretch my legs a bit today.’

If he hadn’t seen it, Fang Yue would have refused to get involved. But since he had, he couldn’t simply pretend he hadn’t.

He had to consider the father’s feelings, if not the daughter’s. No matter how much he disliked Zhang Shu, Zhang Boyang had always been good to him. He couldn’t just ignore this.

Immediately, Fang Yue found a deserted corner, knocked a Temple Priest in a yellow robe unconscious, and tossed him into a flowerbed. He then changed into the man’s robes, altered his posture, and applied a quick disguise. Instantly, he took on the appearance of a vicious thug.

’I have to make a move, but I can’t expose my identity.’

He then found a section of the perimeter wall and, with a light leap, entered the rear courtyard of the Goddess Temple.

Once inside the rear courtyard, Fang Yue realized that, just as he’d suspected, this place was far from ordinary.

It was much quieter here, completely cut off from the noise of the fair. Men in yellow robes stood guard at every intersection, their faces vicious. They were clearly not ordinary Temple Priests.

’There aren’t many rooms here. I’ll have to check them one by one.’

Fang Yue stroked his chin and began his search.

Fang Yue swaggered past an intersection. As a man who had hunted dangerous beasts for years and possessed a higher cultivation, his own ferocious aura was even more potent than that of the guards.

For a moment, none of the men in yellow robes dared to approach and question him, and no one gave him a second glance.

Soon, Fang Yue found a lone man in a yellow robe.

"You, get over here. Where’d they take that girl from earlier? Hmph. Think you can have her all to yourself? You’ll have to ask me for permission first."

His vicious tone, combined with his fierce-looking disguise, successfully intimidated the man in the yellow robe.

"Sh-she was taken... to the Leopard Room."

Stuttering and stammering, the man in the yellow robe took a long time to spit out the words under Fang Yue’s glare.
