Chapter 248 - 173: Unexpected (Part 2)
"Heh heh, look who it is. We meet again. I told you that sooner or later, you’d fall into my hands." Commander Liu sneered, looking at Fang Yue with a sinister smile.
A few days ago, he was at home waiting for Chen Shicheng to willingly offer up his wife.
But after waiting and waiting, no one showed up. He’d assumed Chen Shicheng had the audacity to ignore his hint. He was just about to teach Chen Shicheng a lesson.
But when he looked into it, he found that Chen Shicheng had been arrested and thrown into the Government Office’s jail.
He pulled the man out of the dungeons and then went to search for Zhang Shu.
Only then did he discover that Zhang Shu had already left the city.
Later, he heard that Zhang Shu had apparently left with that brat who had offended him.
How could he not be furious when the prize he was about to devour had flown away? So, he led his men in pursuit.
Fortunately, he had finally caught up.
Otherwise, if they had truly left the borders of Denglai City, it would have been difficult for him to continue the chase.
"Heh heh, I’ve finally stopped you, you lecherous kidnapper! Abducting another man’s wife... what crime do you deserve?" Commander Liu laughed, a vicious look in his eyes as he strode toward the carriage ahead.
As he moved, his bones crackled like popping beans.
Commander Liu’s entire body surged with power as he threw a punch straight at Fang Yue. This time, he would kill Fang Yue on the spot to prevent any unexpected complications and stop him from escaping.
The moment Commander Liu struck, he unleashed the full power of a Qi Sensing Martial Master. A fierce wind howled with the clap of thunder, making the air around the carriage hum violently.
Seeing this, the members of the Fang Family on the carriage all showed looks of terror.
"Zhi’Er, get out of the way!"
Ms. Chen was so anxious she burst into tears, while Father Fang’s legs went weak.
The couple were just ordinary people; they had never witnessed a battle of this magnitude. Even from a safe distance, and not even being the target of the attack, the force of the wind still whipped against their faces, causing them to sting.
This was countless times more terrifying than any Martial Artist they had ever seen. How could they not realize that their Zhi’Er was facing a true expert?
Seeing this, Fang Yue took a deep breath.
His family was right behind him; how could he possibly dodge? If he did, this man would surely harm them.
And his family was his reverse scale—touching them was a death wish!
In the space of a breath, the blood in Fang Yue’s body began to boil. Powerful Primordial Qi erupted within him, and he unleashed his full strength.
For a moment, the very air seemed to freeze.
BA-DUM. BA-DUM.
Everyone present felt their hearts skip a beat. Their eyes were wide, not daring to even blink.
The next moment.
A majestic gust of power surged toward Commander Liu.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Commander Liu’s fist collided with Fang Yue’s in mid-air. There was a dull thud, and then Commander Liu was sent stumbling back seven or eight steps before he could regain his footing.
SPURT.
Commander Liu spat out a mouthful of blood. His face was pale as he staggered and collapsed to the ground, his eyes filled with terror as he stared at Fang Yue.
’I never would have dreamed that I would lose to such a young man. I didn’t even have a chance to make a proper move, and it seems he wasn’t even using his full strength.’
’To be defeated so thoroughly... What terrifying combat prowess!’
’How is this possible? How can he be so strong?!’
’Based on his aura, he looks like he’s only just achieved Qi Sensing.’
’To reach Qi Sensing at his age already makes him a rare genius, but his combat strength is even greater than mine, a mid-stage Qi Sensing Martial Master!’
’How is that possible?!’
"Well? Do you want to keep fighting?" Fang Yue asked, looking at Commander Liu.
Inwardly, however, he felt it was a shame. ’This Commander Liu is stronger than I thought. I can’t believe that last punch didn’t kill him.’
At that moment, the surrounding soldiers all moved to stand in front of Commander Liu. Although their eyes were filled with terror and they didn’t dare attack Fang Yue, it was obvious that the opportunity to kill the commander in one fell swoop was lost. After all, Fang Yue couldn’t just slaughter all these soldiers.
"HUFF... PUFF! Stop! This is a misunderstanding! Please, both of you, stop fighting!"
Just then, County Magistrate Lin arrived on horseback, panting for breath.
But when he got a clear look at the scene, he couldn’t help but gasp.
"All of you, step aside! Make way for Lord Fang!" County Magistrate Lin glanced at the apparently severely injured Commander Liu and sneered inwardly.
He had heard that Commander Liu had stormed off in a rage, vowing to break every bone in Fang Yue’s body.
That was when he realized something had gone terribly wrong.
It was he who had arrested Chen Shicheng, and it was only because of Commander Liu’s visit that he learned Chen Shicheng had connections to the commander. He immediately realized he might have arrested the wrong person.
Coupled with Commander Liu’s threats, he had been afraid something would happen to Fang Yue.
So he had immediately rushed out of the city. Thankfully, he’d managed to catch up.
However, the situation was not what he had expected. The one who was injured—and quite seriously, at that—was not Fang Yue, but Commander Liu.
Seeing this, County Magistrate Lin couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
’Thank goodness, thank goodness it wasn’t Fang Yue who was hurt.’
’If Fang Yue had actually gotten hurt because of this, I would have been in deep trouble too. After all, this whole mess started because of me.’
"County Magistrate Lin, you’ve arrived just in time! This maniac abducted a woman, and he came from Shanyang Prefecture! I fear he’s a spy for the Rebel Army! Hurry and have your men take this villain down!" Commander Liu gasped, forcing himself to his feet.
Now that County Magistrate Lin had arrived with his government constables, combined with the soldiers already present, there were over a hundred men in total.
’I refuse to believe this lunatic would be crazy enough to try and kill all of us!’
At this moment, County Magistrate Lin truly wished he could walk over and slap this clueless Commander Liu a couple of times. ’You’re already in this state, you’ve lost a few teeth and are lisping when you talk, yet you’re still here fanning the flames.’
’Aren’t you afraid of provoking this young master? If he really decides to act, he could kill you right here.’
’With his background from a great family in Yujing City, he’d probably get a slap on the wrist at most, while this time next year would be the anniversary of your death.’
County Magistrate Lin gave a cold smile but completely ignored him, pretending he hadn’t heard a word.
"You lot, what are you waiting for? Carry your commander back and get his injuries treated. With war on the horizon, how can we afford to have an injured man?"
Seeing that Commander Liu was still trying to cause trouble, County Magistrate Lin quickly ordered the commander’s own soldiers to carry him away.
Soon, the troublemaker was carried off.
County Magistrate Lin, however, quickly hurried over to Fang Yue with a broad smile. "Lord Fang, please allow this squad of government constables to escort you for a portion of your journey. It will save you from any trouble on the road."
Fang Yue shook his head and declined the offer.
Instead, after exchanging a few pleasantries with County Magistrate Lin, he drove the carriage away.
This time, the rest of the journey was completely peaceful.
Before long, they arrived at a nearby town. After settling his family in, Fang Yue made an excuse to go out and left the town.
~~~~~~~
’It shouldn’t be too late to catch up to them now.’
Fang Yue glanced at the sky, then altered his appearance, taking on a different look before heading back toward Denglai City in pursuit.
Since Commander Liu had tried to kill his entire family today, he could not let the man live.
Revenge is a dish best served immediately. Besides, if he let him go this time, he didn’t know when he would get another chance to kill the man.
About an hour later, Fang Yue finally spotted a group of figures in green up ahead.
He had caught up.
He also noticed that the area was deserted, with only a forest nearby—the perfect place to dispose of a body.
Just as Fang Yue was about to move forward, seven or eight figures dressed in black suddenly rushed out of the nearby forest.
The men in black had a clear target, charging directly toward Commander Liu and his subordinates.
The assassins moved with swift, clean precision. They were clearly professionally trained killers, their methods brutal and every move lethal. With Commander Liu already severely injured, the gap in their abilities was even wider.
Commander Liu and his men had no chance to resist. In the blink of an eye, several of them had already been killed.
