Chapter 256 - 177: Savage, Part 2
"Damn it, what just happened? Why did I pass out in the courtyard?" Eldest Young Master Dong rubbed the back of his head, a sharp pain still throbbing there.
Soon, his expression changed drastically. He realized something was wrong—he had just been attacked.
Just then, he noticed the door to the inner room was wide open. And from his wife’s room, he could have sworn he heard a man’s voice.
A wave of fury rushed to Eldest Young Master Dong’s head. He burst into the room and, just as he’d feared, saw his wife unconscious while a man was about to have his way with her.
Eldest Young Master Dong couldn’t bear it. He drew his dagger and lunged forward.

「The next day.」
Just as Fang Yue was leaving his house, he ran into Hong Ling again.
"Oh my, you’ll never guess what happened last night! A big shot from Cao Bang went to his own brother’s house and tried to force himself on his sister-in-law."
"And get this—the Cao Bang leader, who was already a Junior-Level Qi-Sensing Martial Master, was killed on the spot by his brother, who only has a Marrow Transformation cultivation!"
Hong Ling chattered on, the whole incident was just too shocking.
It involved Cao Bang, one of the three major local gangs, and had a juicy scandal mixed in, so very little information had gotten out.
There were no details on how exactly the Cao Bang leader with the higher cultivation was killed.
In any case, Cao Bang had locked down all information after the incident.
"Oh, right! And you’ll never guess this either—that same Cao Bang leader was the one behind those hooligans yesterday," Hong Ling added.
"Is that so? Then that’s great. Wicked people get what they deserve."
Hearing this, Fang Yue showed no surprise or joy, his tone was flat as he spoke.
Hong Ling looked at Fang Yue in surprise.
She seemed to be trying to read something on his face, but after looking and looking, she found nothing out of the ordinary.
Hong Ling smiled faintly and then continued.
"But, although I don’t know how that Luo Cheng died, it definitely wasn’t Eldest Young Master Dong who killed him. Besides, this incident is far from over. Luo Cheng’s older brother is a Commander in the city patrol guard. He’s at the late stage of Qi Sensing, a true god of slaughter."
"If he finds out who really killed his brother, he will definitely seek revenge."
After she finished speaking, without waiting for Fang Yue’s reply, Hong Ling went straight into the courtyard Fang Yue was renting to chat with Ms. Chen.
Instantly, Fang Yue’s expression turned cold.
’So this is what it’s like to be a protagonist,’ he thought. ’You don’t want to cause trouble, but trouble insists on finding you.’
’It’s always the same story: you beat the young one, and the old one comes looking for you. In the end, you practically have to wipe out their entire family before it’s over.’
’It seems that sometimes, just wanting to live a peaceful life is an incredibly difficult thing.’
Fang Yue sighed softly, but his gaze immediately hardened with resolve.
Today, he was going to find Hui Hengwu and accept his invitation to become an official Inspector of the Observatory.
Doing so meant he would have to go to Guangfeng Prefecture, but his family’s safety would be guaranteed.
As an Inspector of the Observatory, he could purchase property in the North City District, which had better security and stricter defenses. Best of all, it was half the price of other properties—a nice perk of the job.
Besides, the follow-up Cultivation Techniques he would need for future advancements would be much easier to obtain through the Observatory’s channels.
The trip went smoothly. Fang Yue completed the onboarding procedures.
However, there was no rush to head to Guangfeng Prefecture. He was granted a half-month of leave and only needed to depart after that.
「Meanwhile.」
In Earth City, at the city patrol guard garrison.
"Have you found anything? Who did my brother have contact with before he died? And don’t give me that nonsense about him being killed by that Eldest Young Master Dong. He doesn’t have the strength!" City Patrol Commander Luo Wei grabbed a nearby subordinate by the collar and demanded.
"Reporting to you, sir! My subordinates have already investigated. Your brother hadn’t offended any strangers in the past few days, nor did he have any feuds. There was only one witness, who said the assailant was burly and very tall."
The subordinate continued, "However, the person may have altered their physique to hide their identity."
"In other words, you have no useful information at all!" Luo Wei’s gaze was glacial.
Feeling the almost tangible, ferocious aura radiating from the Commander, the subordinate broke out in a cold sweat.
"That’s not entirely true! Your brother had been targeting an outsider and was planning to make a move against him."
"Hmph? Give me their information."
Luo Wei soon received the file on Fang Yue’s family.
"A Martial Artist with Great Success in Marrow Transformation, not yet thirty. Frequent trips to Central Yujing City, seems to have connections with the Observatory. Not yet an Inspector, though. Previously passed the examination to become a Martial Scholar. A refugee from Shanyang Prefecture!"
The more Luo Wei read, the more savage his expression became. His Primordial Qi began to fluctuate violently, and the faint phantom of a Terror Beast appeared over his body.
"Heh heh, if it wasn’t him, who else could it be? Who cares if it was really him or not? I’ll just kill them all."
"I’ll go kill this person today. And not just him, I’ll kill his entire family."
"’Better to kill the wrong person than to let one slip by.’ Even if it wasn’t him, it’s just his bad luck."
"No, it’s Fang Yue’s honor. Being able to accompany my brother in death—isn’t that the greatest honor of all!"
ROAR!
With what sounded like a tiger’s roar, Luo Wei’s figure stirred up a fierce gust of wind as he burst out of the city patrol guard’s vermilion gates and charged down the long street.
His speed was incredible, and he made no attempt to conceal his presence.
Instantly, many people in the city felt their hearts leap into their throats.
This City Patrol Commander cultivated the Tiger Roar Saber Technique, which was originally a majestic and ferocious Cultivation Technique.
But perhaps something went wrong with a Secret Medicine he took, because this Commander, Luo Wei, had twisted the kingly dominance of a mighty tiger into the savage ferocity of a demonic one.
This, in turn, had made him even more ferocious and terrifying.
Whether they were vicious criminals or good-hearted families, anyone who fell into his hands met the same fate: their entire household was exterminated.
In this giant city, aside from those Cultivators above Qi Sensing—in the Third and Fourth Realms—few did not fear this Commander.
"Hm? Not here. They moved?"
Luo Wei quickly arrived at the place where Fang Yue’s family used to live.
Staring at the empty courtyard, Luo Wei gave a sinister sneer. "Heh heh, so I wasn’t wrong. They’re gone. A guilty conscience, is it? Even if it wasn’t you, you definitely know who it was!"
Even without any evidence, Luo Wei was now certain that the killer was either Fang Yue or someone connected to him.
Quickly, by asking passersby, Luo Wei found out Fang Yue’s family’s new address and immediately charged in that direction.
~~~~~~~
"That Luo Wei really lives up to his reputation. He’s really going to kill someone. I wonder if Fang Yue can stop him."
"Sigh, that man is so reckless. He killed Luo Wei’s brother without getting a clear picture of the situation, and now he’s provoked the man to come for revenge. I really don’t know what to do."
Hong Ling sighed and stomped her foot.
In this Earth City, anyone who managed to climb out of the bottom rung of society was not to be underestimated. They either had great strength or a powerful background.
So, you either don’t make a move, or you do it cleanly. Like this time, Fang Yue actually did a decent job. Against any other power, they probably wouldn’t have been able to trace it back to him.
But that Luo Wei is a complete madman.
The man doesn’t care about cause and effect, doesn’t look at evidence, and acts solely on his gut feelings.
As long as he feels someone is connected, he’ll show up at their door and annihilate their entire family.
Because that is the kind of madness that lies at the core of his being.
"Forget it, forget it. I’ll go find my master and ask him to intervene. At the very least, he should be able to protect Fang Yue’s family."
Hong Ling sighed again, then turned and sped off in a particular direction.
