Chapter 389 - 239: Making Contact
He closed his eyes, quietly savoring the fine tea while remaining aware of his surroundings.
Although Yun Qing wasn’t in the inn’s main hall, Fang Yue believed that if she was truly staying here, she would eventually make an appearance.
Sure enough, it wasn’t long before a set of soft footsteps approached.
Fang Yue opened his eyes and saw a woman in a light purple dress walking gracefully toward him. Her features were exquisitely beautiful and her bearing elegant; it was none other than the Yun Qing he had met before.
Yun Qing didn’t seem to notice Fang Yue’s presence. She walked straight to the inn’s counter and began speaking in a low voice with the Shopkeeper.
Fang Yue didn’t rush to greet her. Instead, he quietly observed her actions.
He noticed that as Yun Qing spoke with the Shopkeeper, her expression was a little grave, as if they were discussing something important.
Just then, two young masters dressed in brocade robes swaggered into the inn.
They were extravagantly dressed and had arrogant expressions. The moment they entered, they began shouting for the best rooms and the finest food and wine.
The atmosphere in the inn changed instantly. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on the two brocade-clad young masters.
Fang Yue also frowned slightly as he watched the two uninvited guests.
Just as Yun Qing was speaking in hushed, grave tones with the Shopkeeper, the inn’s main door was suddenly pushed open, and two young masters in brocade robes swaggered inside.
Their eyes immediately fell upon Yun Qing standing at the counter, and a flash of stunned admiration crossed their faces.
The two young masters clearly knew Yun Qing. They walked straight toward her, their faces plastered with smiles.
"Miss Yun, what a coincidence! I never thought I’d run into you here," one of the young masters said.
Yun Qing’s brow furrowed slightly upon seeing them. She clearly had no desire to interact with them.
Nevertheless, she gave a polite nod and replied coolly, "Oh, it’s you two. You’re here as well."
The other young master took a step forward and said with a hint of lewdness, "Miss Yun, since we last parted, I’ve thought of you day and night, unable to eat or drink. To meet again here today must be fate. I wonder if you might have time to join us for a few drinks?"
Yun Qing’s expression immediately darkened. She shot the young master a cold look and said, "I’m sorry, I have things to attend to. I don’t have time to drink with you."
With that, she turned to leave.
But the two young masters weren’t about to give up. They stepped forward, blocking Yun Qing’s path.
"Miss Yun, why the rush to leave? We’re sincerely inviting you for a drink," one of them said with a shameless grin.
Yun Qing’s face grew even colder. Just as she was about to lash out, a clear, chilly voice rang out, "Gentlemen, please conduct yourselves with some decency."
Fang Yue had, at some point, risen to his feet. He walked to Yun Qing’s side and stared coldly at the two young masters.
His gaze held an unquestionable authority and a chilling severity that made the two young masters involuntarily take a step back.
"Who... who are you? How dare you meddle in our business?" one of them stammered, trying to sound fierce.
Fang Yue sneered. "Who I am is not important. What’s important is that you shouldn’t be harassing Miss Yun here. If you know what’s good for you, leave now. Otherwise, don’t blame me for being impolite."
His tone was heavy with threat, making the two young masters shudder inwardly.
They glanced at each other, shot a hateful glare at Yun Qing and Fang Yue, then turned and left the inn.
"Thank you for your help, Young Master Fang." Yun Qing turned and gave Fang Yue a slight nod to express her gratitude.
Fang Yue smiled faintly and waved his hand. "There’s no need to thank me, Miss Yun. I simply couldn’t stand their arrogant and domineering behavior. Besides, it is my honor to meet you here."
Yun Qing gave a small, soft laugh and said nothing more.
She knew that while Fang Yue seemed gentle and refined on the surface, he possessed an inner sharpness that could not be underestimated.
Fang Yue’s timely intervention had further increased Yun Qing’s favorable impression of him.
She understood in her heart that men like Fang Yue were a rare sight in the Jianghu. He not only possessed exceptional Martial Arts and wisdom, but also a chivalrous heart.
After the two of them sat down again, Yun Qing seemed to hesitate for a moment before finally speaking. "Young Master Fang, I actually came to this inn to wait for someone."
"Oh? Who are you waiting for?" Fang Yue asked curiously.
Yun Qing pondered for a moment, then said slowly, "You."
Hearing Yun Qing’s answer, Fang Yue couldn’t help but be surprised. He looked into her clear, spring-like eyes as a strange emotion stirred in his heart.
"Waiting for me? Miss Yun, what do you mean?" Fang Yue asked, confused.

Yun Qing took a deep breath, as if she had made up her mind. She looked at Fang Yue and said slowly, "Young Master Fang, the truth is, I’ve been looking for you all this time. I received a secret letter, and it said that only by finding you can I solve the mystery that troubles me."
Fang Yue only grew more confused as he listened. He frowned and asked, "Miss Yun, what are you talking about? I don’t understand any of this."
Yun Qing sighed softly. "Young Master Fang, I know this is very sudden for you, but I truly have my reasons and no other choice. After I received the letter, I started asking around for news of you everywhere. Someone later told me you would be coming here, so I rushed over to try my luck."
Hearing this, Fang Yue’s confusion only deepened.
He looked at Yun Qing, trying to find some clue in her expression.
