Chapter 47: Showing Off.
The path leading to the Yamhad Clan’s main Fortress was smooth, without any hurdles.
The ’Map’ that had been gifted by the clan along with the carriage made it easy for them to travel.
Once Edgar reached the familiar Fortress Wall, he stepped out of the carriage.
Stretching his body, Edgar began walking toward the soldiers standing guard.
’Using the toilet after so long really refreshed my body...’
Even though it hadn’t been half a month since he arrived in this world, Edgar still missed his toilet dearly.
Defecating in the open while staring at the wilderness around him wasn’t really his thing.
The soldiers bowed slightly in his direction when he approached.
"Clan Leader Theo has informed us about your arrival," the old soldier said. "I will lead you to his castle."
Edgar nodded and gestured for him to lead the way while another soldier took the carriage from Andrew.
The duo moved through the streets of the unique city, which Edgar keenly observed.
He really liked the structural style of the city and was looking for buildings he could take inspiration from.
’Hm, should I really go with a style closer to this world, or should I create a much more modern city?’
While he debated with himself, Edgar and Andrew reached another Fortress Wall inside the city.
They walked through the main gate and into the castle, only for Edgar to see a familiar face.
It was a maid with long brown hair and sharp eyes who looked more like a veteran soldier.
Lady Reeba bowed her head towards him before looking at the soldier. "I will take it from here."
The aged soldier nodded and walked away, making her their new guide.
Edgar and Andrew followed the lady as the blonde couldn’t help but ask, "Why is Lady Hera’s personal maid attending us?"
The lady glanced back and replied, "Your abilities as a Builder have been leaked to the Northern Sect."
Her voice grew softer. "You might face an assassination attempt."
Edgar frowned at her words and immediately grew suspicious.
’The only people who should know about my abilities are Theo and the upper echelon of the clan.’
A thought popped into his mind.
’There is a mole at the top...’
Edgar was more or less sure it was true, and judging by how Theo was... he might already be aware of it as well.
’The Northern Sect, huh...’
The trio finally reached a door that was heavily guarded by soldiers.
Lady Reeba bowed and said, "Only you are allowed inside."
Edgar nodded and gave Andrew a few instructions.
He then walked inside, and his body immediately relaxed.
In the middle of the large room stood a table filled with parchments and quills, with two chairs placed on either side.
And on one of the chairs sat a lady with long white hair.
Hera waved her hand like an excited child when she saw Edgar.
"You are finally here, bestie!"
Edgar groaned. "I am not your bestie."
Still, he sat down on the chair opposite her so they faced each other.
Lady Hera smiled, showing her dimples, while resting her interlocked hands beneath her chin.
"I was waiting for you," she said smoothly. "I even prepared everything you needed."
Edgar looked at the items on the table and couldn’t help but ask, "Need them for what?"
The lady blinked her beautiful eyes. "To practice the blueprint?" Her voice grew suspicious.
"Don’t you know Builders usually practice a blueprint at least fifty to a hundred times before they even try to work on the foundation?"
"...Of course I do." Edgar lied with a straight face. "I am just baffled by the number of parchments here."
The young lady tilted her head. "What do you mean?"
Edgar didn’t reply as he simply picked up one of the parchments and a quill before he began drawing.
Hera took a long second to understand what he was doing.
The young lady giggled before pushing the stacks of parchment aside and leaned closer to him.
"Are you trying to impress me by recreating the blueprint from your memory?"
"Why would I try to impress you?" Edgar replied without looking at her.
"Yeah, it’s strange," she said, her emerald eyes never leaving his face. "Why would you?"
Hera rested her chin on her palm as she watched him.
Ever since she was a child, there had been countless people who tried to win her favor.
Many had tried to show off their skills as well.
So, to her, what Edgar was doing wasn’t something new.
The only reason she didn’t stand up and walk away was because of her own interest in Edgar.
The boy who claimed he came from a place where people could fly.
But the more Edgar worked on the blueprint, the more her smile faded.
Slowly, she picked up the ⟨Breeding Plant⟩ Blueprint from the side and opened it.
Her emerald eyes moved between the two blueprints.
"..."
The room gradually fell silent, and the playful smile on Hera’s face completely disappeared.
In the same amount of time it took someone to drink a cup of tea, Edgar had recreated the ⟨Breeding Plant⟩ Blueprint entirely from memory.
With a sigh of satisfaction, Edgar turned the blueprint toward her.
Hera didn’t look at it. She already knew it was the same as the one in her hand.
Thinking back about their last meeting, Edgar couldn’t help but smile and wink at the girl. "Impressed?"
The lady opened her mouth before closing it again.
"...Why did you show this to me, Edgar?" she asked slowly.
"So I don’t have to waste my time redrawing the same blueprint again and again," Edgar replied without hesitation.
"And we can do more productive things."
Hera looked deeply at him and asked, "You want to learn about potions?"
Edgar nodded. "Yes."
Hera sighed and leaned back in her chair, her expression rather complicated.
Part of her was genuinely impressed by him, while another part was rather fearful.
It had to be known that Builders in this world spent months practicing a single blueprint.
Even the easiest blueprint took days to perfect.
Yet the boy, who was the same age as her, had learned the blueprint after looking at it only once.
Hera grumbled softly. "...You are a monster."
Taking a deep breath, she nodded. "Alright."
Her teasing smile returned. "I will teach you how to make potions."
