The look in Bai Ye’s eyes changed in an instant.

It was an expression Si Jin had never seen before.

Anger, pain, resentment... and something else, something suppressed to its absolute limit, on the verge of shattering.

These emotions churned and tore at each other in his eyes before finally settling into a terrifying, dead stillness.

"You..." Bai Ye’s voice sounded as if it were being squeezed from the depths of his throat, each word dripping with a bloody rage. "How dare you!"

Si Jin looked at Bai Ye’s wretched state, at the agony threatening to spill from his eyes, and suddenly found it all rather amusing.

"And why wouldn’t I dare?"

He let out a low chuckle and methodically adjusted his collar, deliberately leaving a few marks exposed.

"Yun Sheng has already agreed to be with me. She’s my guide now. Whatever I do to her, she consents to. Bai Ye, Yun Sheng and I are in love. What right do you have to butt in?"

Bai Ye clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white.

He stared daggers at Si Jin, his chest heaving as if he were desperately trying to suppress something.

The rage almost broke free from the cage of his reason, but in the end, he forced it back down, bit by bit.

His face devoid of expression, he looked at Si Jin and said coldly, "In love? Si Jin, don’t forget who you are. You’re a Dark Sentinel, a wanted criminal of the Star Alliance. Being with you will bring her nothing but trouble. If you truly loved her, you wouldn’t drag her into this mess with you."

Si Jin scoffed and raised an eyebrow, feigning nonchalance.

"Mind your own business." He crossed his arms, his posture casual, but his tone was unyielding. "This is between me and Yun Sheng. It’s not your place to interfere."

"You..."

Bai Ye was so enraged that the aura around him suddenly erupted.

Behind him, the phantom image of the Holy Light White Tiger faintly materialized—majestic and terrifying, as if ready to pounce and kill at any moment.

But Si Jin wasn’t the least bit afraid.

He didn’t even take a step back, merely lifting his gaze leisurely and curling his lip into a smirk.

"Bai Ye, the great Star Alliance War God, wearing a mask, suppressing your aura, and pretending to be a lowly escorting Sentinel just to hide by Yun Sheng’s side... Did you really think I wouldn’t figure out your little game?"

Bai Ye didn’t speak. The aura around him grew even more menacing, and the very air seemed to freeze.

But Si Jin continued, unhurried, "You keep saying this is all for Yun Sheng’s own good. But what are you doing right now? Releasing your spiritual body, letting everyone know the Star Alliance War God is here, letting them all see you lose control? Won’t that bring Yun Sheng endless trouble all the same?"

’In his perception, the other members of Yun Sheng’s team had already dealt with the vines and were now heading this way.’

’If Bai Ye exposed his power now, it would be no different from revealing his identity himself!’

Bai Ye’s gaze sharpened.

The phantom White Tiger behind him instantly vanished, and the aura around him receded like the tide, disappearing completely.

But the eyes that stared at Si Jin were terrifyingly cold.

Si Jin met his gaze, the smile on his lips only deepening.

"There you go," he said languidly. "The great Star Alliance War God should be presiding over the Capital Star, impartial and incorruptible. How could you act so recklessly for your own selfish desires?"

Bai Ye ignored his provocation and said directly, "Yun Sheng’s teammates are coming. If you stay here, won’t you just be causing trouble for her too? Si Jin, you’re the one who needs to leave!"

’He had a point.’

But Si Jin was still a bit annoyed that Bai Ye had found an opportunity to strike back so quickly.

He sneered. "So I leave, and you get to keep hiding behind your disguise, staying by Yun Sheng’s side?"

Bai Ye didn’t answer.

Si Jin stared at him, enunciating each word. "Bai Ye, stop dreaming. The person Yun Sheng loves is me. Even if you despicably continue to stay by her side, it won’t change a thing."

Bai Ye met his gaze, his voice so calm that it betrayed no emotion. "That’s not for you to worry about."

Just then, the sound of several pairs of hurried footsteps approached from a distance, accompanied by anxious calls.

"Yun Sheng..."

"White Tiger Officer..."

"Yun Sheng... Where are you?"

It was Yun Sheng’s teammates.

Si Jin’s brow furrowed. He looked at Bai Ye. "You go lead them away."

Bai Ye shot him a cold look. "On what grounds?"

Si Jin glanced at him, his tone matter-of-fact. "You don’t want to cause trouble for Yun Sheng, do you? In her current state, she’s not fit to be seen by them."

With that, he turned and walked toward the cave, as if certain that Bai Ye would agree.

Bai Ye subconsciously took a step forward, but his expression changed abruptly when he sensed the familiar fluctuation of spiritual power emanating from the cave entrance, and he froze in his tracks.

’That was... Yun Sheng’s spiritual power.’

’But it wasn’t just hers.’

Two streams of spiritual power were entwined, one within the other, carrying the unique, lingering... intimacy that comes only after an extreme fusion.

It was as if two separate nets were now densely interwoven, impossible to distinguish one from the other.

Although the major fissures in Bai Ye’s spiritual landscape had been repaired, countless smaller cracks remained.

They made his emotional fluctuations and self-control far weaker than before.

’If I went in there now...’

Bai Ye closed his eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing violently.

’The moment I step inside, it would be far too easy to be provoked and lose control.’

’And Yun Sheng... really wasn’t in a state to see her teammates like this!’

He stood rooted to the spot, staring intently at the cave entrance, not taking another step forward.

Si Jin pushed aside the vines and entered the cave.

The light grew dim. Only the pearl still emitted a faint, soft glow.

Yun Sheng lay quietly on his outer robe, her breathing steady, fast asleep.

He lightened his steps as he approached, slowly crouching down to gaze at her sleeping face.

A faint blush still lingered on her cheeks, and her lips were slightly parted, as if she were having a pleasant dream.

The coldness in Si Jin’s eyes instantly vanished, replaced by an unyielding tenderness.

He reached out, gently brushing a stray lock of hair from her forehead. The pad of his finger caressed her cheek as he whispered, "Yun Sheng."

Yun Sheng frowned and mumbled a groggy, "Mm?"

"Wake up." He leaned down and placed a kiss on the corner of her lips. "I have to go."

Yun Sheng’s eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes.

Meeting Si Jin’s gaze, she froze for a moment. Then, as if remembering something, her face flushed slightly.

"What’s wrong..."

Her voice was still hoarse from sleep, so soft it sounded like she was pouting.

"There are people outside looking for you," Si Jin said softly, his thumb caressing her cheek. "Your teammates."

Yun Sheng was instantly wide awake.

She blinked, tilting her head to listen. Sure enough, she could faintly hear Cheng Nian and the others calling out.

She subconsciously grabbed Si Jin’s hand, her fingertips tightening slightly.

"You..." She looked at him, her eyes filled with unease and a deep reluctance to let him go. "Are you leaving?"
