Chapter 93: Don’t Push Me Away, Let Me Help You
The frenzied spiritual power came to a halt before Yun Sheng, and the out-of-control figure froze in place.
His crimson eyes were locked on her, a violent struggle raging within them. The desire for destruction and a forcefully awakened bond were locked in a frantic tug-of-war.
Yun Sheng’s heart pounded wildly. Forcibly suppressing her instinctive fear, she didn’t shrink back in the slightest. Instead, she took a step forward.
She opened her arms and wrapped them tightly around the body teeming with frenetic energy.
He felt hard and scorching hot. His muscles were knotted and taut, as if they might burst at any moment.
The chaotic, violent spiritual power immediately felt like thousands of thin needles trying to pierce her spiritual landscape, bringing a sharp, agonizing pain.
"Si Jin, it’s me..." She pressed her face against his violently heaving chest, her voice muffled and hoarse, yet clear. "You recognize me, don’t you?"
The body she held suddenly went rigid, then erupted with astonishing power in an attempt to throw her off.
Yun Sheng let out a muffled grunt, her fingertips digging so deeply into the fabric on his back that they nearly pierced his skin. She had to use all her strength just to hold on.
"Don’t push me away..." She raised her head, looking up at him and ignoring the terrifying light in his crimson eyes. "Let me help you..."
She waited no longer.
Standing on her tiptoes, she gently pressed her lips against Si Jin’s tightly sealed ones.
In that instant, it was as if a faint electric current shot through their touching lips, and through their intertwining Spiritual Force Fields as well.
"Ngh..."
A suppressed growl, like that of a caged beast, escaped Si Jin’s throat. His muscles tensed to their absolute limit, yet for a brief moment, his resistance slackened.
Yun Sheng seized this fleeting opportunity. Inexperienced yet persistent, she deepened the kiss.
She gently traced his rigid lipline, prying open his tightly held defenses bit by bit as her warm breath cautiously ventured inside.
Their breaths slowly began to mingle.
Meanwhile, her hands were not idle.
One arm wrapped tightly around Si Jin’s waist, while her other hand moved to the tense nape of his neck. With a soothing pressure, her fingertips gently kneaded the throbbing muscles, then trailed slowly down his spine, attempting to ease his inhuman rigidity.
Every brush of their lips, every touch of her fingertips, carried her faint yet pure spiritual power, which flowed like a warm, trickling stream into his collapsing, turbulent spiritual landscape.
Under her clumsy yet determined soothing, Si Jin’s body began to tremble even more violently.
In his crimson eyes, the chaotic vortex seemed to freeze for a fleeting moment. Confusion and struggle surfaced faintly, like bubbles rising from the depths.
He still didn’t respond to her kiss, but his aura of pure destruction now seemed to be forcibly infused with something else—something chaotic and painful.
He no longer attacked or resisted her closeness and touch, merely standing rigidly and passively enduring it all.
Yun Sheng held him tightly, kissing him, caressing him, using all her strength in an attempt to awaken him.
Gradually, however, a sense of powerlessness and exhaustion began to creep in.
She felt increasingly sharp pangs of pain radiating from her own spiritual landscape. Against the rampaging Dark Power of Si Jin, her meager spiritual power was but a drop in the ocean.
Although the frenzied spiritual power around Si Jin was no longer intensifying, and he no longer seemed to reject her, his tumultuous aura had not subsided. He still hadn’t recovered.
’I’m not strong enough... My power isn’t enough to truly awaken Si Jin. It’s not even enough to sustain this level of contact and soothing for long.’
Yun Sheng stopped, pressing her forehead against the scorching side of Si Jin’s neck. Her voice trembled with a sob.
"Si Jin... wait for me."
She tightened her arms, as if trying to brand his form into her own.
"When I get stronger... I’ll be able to awaken you."
Yun Sheng looked up, gazing deep into those crimson, chaotic eyes.
"You... you have to wait for me!"
As the words left her lips, her consciousness, like a taut thread, began to rapidly unravel and fade.
Her last sensation was of her hand being pulled away, and of Si Jin’s hand seeming to unconsciously grab for hers.
The next second, Yun Sheng shot bolt upright in bed!
Cold sweat soaked her thin pajamas, making them cling unpleasantly to her back. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a drum.
Outside the window, the sky was bright. Morning light streamed through a gap in the curtains, casting pale patches of light across the floor.
’It’s morning!’
Yun Sheng couldn’t bear to wait another second!
She scrambled out of bed, rushed into the bathroom to quickly wash up, hastily threw on some outdoor clothes, and then bolted downstairs.
The aroma of breakfast wafted from the dining room. Su Wan was already sitting at the table. Seeing Yun Sheng, she smiled and said, "Shengsheng, you’re up so early? Come get something to eat, I had the kitchen make..."
"Ma’am, I can’t eat! I have something urgent to do, I have to go!"
Yun Sheng spoke in a frantic rush. Before Su Wan could even finish her sentence, she had already swept through the dining room like a gust of wind, making a beeline for the front door.
Without breaking stride, she hurried out of Xinglan Garden and made a beeline for the residential complex across the street—the one Si Jin was renting under the alias "Lin Mo."
However, before she could even get close to the entrance of the complex, she stopped dead in her tracks.
Not far from the entrance, on what was usually a quiet side road, conspicuous yellow caution tape had been put up.
Several people in Tower security uniforms were bustling about, holding detection instruments and scanning the ground and walls.
Farther away, a few early-rising residents had gathered, pointing and murmuring among themselves.
"...Heard it happened last night. Sounded like a huge commotion..."
"Yeah, they said they detected strong residual energy fluctuations, and... bloodstains!"
"My god, don’t tell me a Contaminant got in?"
"Who knows? The security team is being real tight-lipped about it..."
The fragmented conversation drifted to Yun Sheng’s ears, making her head buzz.
’Could this be where it happened? Did something happen to Si Jin here last night?!’
At that thought, Yun Sheng immediately pushed forward, trying to get past the crowd for a closer look.
Just as she reached the caution tape and her eyes anxiously swept over the scene within, a searing, sharp gaze suddenly fell upon her.
The presence of that gaze was so intense that the hairs on the back of her neck instantly stood on end.
Yun Sheng’s head snapped up, her eyes following the sensation.
She saw Bai Ye stepping out from behind the caution tape.
He walked straight toward her and came to a stop right in front of her. "Up so early?" he asked, his voice mild.
Alarm bells screamed in Yun Sheng’s head, but wanting to get information, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and play along.
"Yes, I woke up early, so I went out for a walk. I saw... it looks like something happened over here, and I got curious. General Bai, what’s going on?"
"Someone called it in, reporting a large amount of blood on the ground and walls," Bai Ye explained in a low voice. "When the police department arrived, they detected abnormal energy fluctuations, so the case was transferred to the Tower."
Yun Sheng’s heart skipped a beat. "Abnormal energy fluctuations? What... kind is it?"
"The residue of rampaging spiritual power. We suspect a fight between Dark Sentinels."
Bai Ye paused, his gaze sweeping over the faint dark circles under her eyes. His voice grew even gentler.
"The residual energy field here is highly unstable, which is a potential risk for a Preparatory Guide like yourself. If you don’t have any other business here, it would be best to leave and not come any closer."
’Is... he concerned for my safety?’
Yun Sheng was completely stunned, unable to process what was happening.
’Bai Ye’s attitude today... is so nice it’s creepy!’
’No relentless questioning, no suspicion about why I’m here... he even answered all my questions amicably and warned me to stay away from the danger?’
’What is going on?’
’What’s gotten into him?!’
