Chapter 243: Ch-243: Battle Royale
Victor had unleashed his Bloodlust skill and directed it solely at Julian, whose face went deathly pale and whose legs weakened as he stared at Victor with dread.
"What’s going on with him?" Valerie was startled, seeing Julian trembling with fear and looking at Victor like he was some kind of monster.
"Scram." Victor looked at the bag of trash and said in a cold voice. He nodded and hurriedly bolted away.
Ruby narrowed her eyes at Victor and thought, ’Even though Julian picks on weak people, there is no reason for him to act like this... he must have done something, but what?’
’What the...’ Ellie’s eyes widened as his mouth hung open, and he looked at Julian, a noble heir, escaping with terror. He looked at Victor with a hint of wariness, as he had hallucinated for a moment that he was getting stared down by a dangerous beast.
Valerie was speechless seeing her fiancé running with his tail tucked between his legs. She looked at Victor and asked in a confused and curious voice, "What did you do to make him run like that?"
Victor looked at her and everyone and said with an amused smile, "Nothing, I just smiled at him. Even I am confused. I am so handsome; how could he react like that?"
"Pfft." Amber snorted with laughter as she looked away, while the others had their lips twitching at his obvious lie and thought, ’Yeah, right. If you don’t want to tell us, then don’t... at least lie properly.’
---
Down at the stage, Olivia and Rachel had already left, and Lance’s eyes were fixated on where Victor was sitting. He had sensed the dreadful killing intent radiating from Victor a few moments ago and narrowed his eyes as he thought, ’That was the Bloodlust skill, but the killing intent was so high. Just how many lives did he take for his killing intent to be this high... interesting.’
Lance himself had unlocked the Bloodline skill, but his was only at the lowest rank, and he even froze for a second when he sensed the bloodlust radiating from that part of the stadium, as he had seen Victor and the girls sitting there.
Lance shook his head, and then a smile appeared on his face as he said in a booming voice, "As you have seen, the Awakeners are getting stronger day by day, and there will be a time when one Awakener will be able to take down an entire dungeon alone."
Lance observed the reaction of the crowd and nodded in satisfaction as many of them were looking confident about the future. He continued, "Our Academy’s mission is to nurture and guide young Awakeners and provide an environment where they can bond and grow together and guard humanity in the future."
As soon as Lance said this, applause rang out from the stadium. He raised his hand with a smile, and the applause died down, and then announced, "Next, we are going to have the battle royale, where 100 Awakeners recommended by the students of the Elite Class of the Academy will take part, and the surviving top 10 will be allowed to directly join the Elite Class of the Academy. Participants, please come onto the stage."
---
"Finally, my turn." Rina stood up excitedly.
"Ellie, you better not lose, or else..." Ruby said in a cold voice as she eyed her brother, which caused him to shudder and stammer, "O-Of course, don’t worry."
"All the best, Rina," Victor said as Rina nodded and headed towards the stage.
---
Rina narrowed her eyes when she saw a group of around twenty people wielding different kinds of weapons surrounding her with vicious looks on their faces.
"Boys, isn’t it rude to surround a pretty lady like me?" Rina said calmly as her eyes swept across the men.
"Heh, it’s because you are pretty that we are not attacking you instantly and are surrounding you. Because you are an A-rank, we watched the news. Individually, we have no hope of defeating you," one of the men wielding a spear, with a scar over his eye, said with a grin on his face.
"I see, I see." Rina nodded her head several times in understanding and then said, "If I were in your shoes and were this pitifully weak, I would do the same."
"Haha, is that so? You understand us," another man said, his eyebrows twitching in irritation when he heard her calling them weak, but there was no denying they were indeed the weaker party, composed of C-rank Awakeners.
"Maybe if you promise a date with me, I can ask them to go easy on you," a handsome man who seemed to be the temporary boss of this alliance said with a grin.
"Heh." Rina snorted and then made a mocking gesture to attack.
"This bitch!" Veins popped out on everyone’s foreheads as the leader shouted, "Attack!"
As soon as his voice rang out, dozens of Awakeners with various weapons lunged towards Rina. They did not possess any bloodlines like the top players; this was the same for most of them, so when they saw a force field made up of light appear, their pupils constricted to the size of needles.
"Damn, a Warlock!" one of the men cursed as he watched in despair as the sword in his hand snapped when it struck the barrier of light.
"What? She is also a Warlock?" Valerie and Ruby, who were watching Rina fight, shot to their feet when they saw Rina creating a force field of light. They knew Victor and Amber were Warlocks but did not expect Rina to also be someone with a Warlock Bloodline.
’Shit, just like Angel Wing Guild, a second guild with three Warlock Bloodlines has appeared.’ Ruby and Valerie’s expressions turned grim as they knew how difficult it would be to deal with Zero Wing with two Warlocks, but now another had been revealed, and their chances of making their guild a Diamond Rank Guild were slipping away.
---
"Shit, Olivia, looks like we have a tough competitor." Rachel clicked her tongue when she saw Rina using a bloodline. During her test, Rina had not revealed her bloodline, so no one knew.
"Indeed, looks like Zero Wing can really compete with us... but she is still A rank, and we three are S rank," Andrew said confidently.
"Is she A rank though?" Olivia said in a calm tone as her eyes remained fixed on Rina.
"What do you mean?" Andrew asked with a glint in his eyes, but Olivia did not respond to his question and kept looking at the stage.
---
Rina looked on calmly as she had used her family bloodline to create a field of light and saw the attackers trying to break past her defense, but to no avail, and even their weapons broke. She decided not to reveal her new bloodline, as her light bloodline was more than enough to deal with these ants.
"Damn, witch!"
"None of our attacks are having any effect!"
"No, my spear broke! I got it from the First Difficulty!"
Many of them cursed and fell into despair.
"Tch, I guess I have to show my trump card," the leader announced as he brought out an item from his storage ring.
Thud.
"This..." Rina’s eyes widened in surprise as she looked at the object in front of her. It was one of the mechs Victor had created.
"Shocked? This is the reward I got from completing the quest to defend the Silvernum Territory. Haha, it’s currently the most powerful weapon. Watch as I break your defense," the leader said in a smug tone as he entered the mech.
"Get eliminated!" he shouted as he punched the light wall with the mech.
Bang!
"How is this possible?" His eyes widened as not even a scratch appeared on the wall of light.
"Heh." Rina snorted and launched a few light swords, which completely destroyed the mech. Then she dispelled the light wall as a staff of light formed in her hand, and in the next second...
"Ahhh!"
"No, shit!"
"Damn, my Elite spot!"
Cries rang out as Rina moved across the stage like a ghost and started knocking out the participants one by one.
Gulp.
Ellie, who had stopped fighting with several others, swallowed a mouthful of saliva as they watched Rina beating everyone to a pulp. He even saw another A-rank Awakener trying to sneak attack her, and his fate was even worse, as Rina paid special attention to him and beat him until his face was swollen like a pig.
Even the crowd watching the fight from the stands sucked in a cold breath.
"Damn, this woman is too brutal."
"Did you see that? She stepped on the face of that female Awakener."
After a few more minutes had passed, there were only ten remaining Awakeners, and Lance walked onto the stage and said in a loud voice, "The match has ended, and the remaining ten students will be directly admitted to the Elite Class."
