Chapter 529: I will save Aeshma, no one can stop me !
The black blaze of the Antichrist licked the dark stone walls of the laboratory, turning the air into a suffocating poison that burned the lungs with every breath. Klein, or rather the one who now fully accepted his identity as Lucifer, straightened up despite the gaping wound that crossed his chest. His blood, of a too vivid red, flowed onto the obsidian floor before evaporating instantly upon contact with the supernatural heat. His polar blue eyes had changed under the effect of his passive talent.
< Cold Blood >
He immediately activated his skill to stabilize his psyche against the overwhelming presence that inhabited Aeshma’s body.
The entity that possessed the Princess tilted its head, a carnivorous smile distorting the once perfect features of Ariana Hornraven. The voice that escaped its lips was no longer the caressing melody of the woman, but a rumble that seemed to come from the deepest strata of the underworld.
"Do you really think your memories of Lucifer will save you from me?" asked the Antichrist, snapping its fingers again. "You are nothing but a calculation error, an aggregate of corpses and stolen essences."
Klein let out a short, dry laugh, a sound devoid of all joy. He plunged his hands into his storage ring and, with a metallic hiss, his katana appeared in his hand.
"Calculation errors are the only things that make this world interesting," he replied in a casual tone. "And if I am an aggregate of corpses, I will make sure yours is the next one on the list, son of a bitch."
After saying these words, Klein made hand signs, moving his fingers with extreme speed.
< Mystic Art: Soul Healing >
Quickly, the wound that Aeshma had inflicted on him scarred over. But he was not completely healed, since before he could finish, a jet of purple and black fire burst from Aeshma’s palm, heading straight toward him.
< Aura Repulsion >
He used his defense technique to block the torrent of fire. The blue shockwave struck the demonic flames, creating a zone of absolute void between the two fighters.
"It really pissed me off to watch you suffer, but as you said yourself, the people who deserve for me to save them are those who have sacrificed everything for me, and you, you are the first, Aeshma," he said as he used Dash.
He appeared in front of the Antichrist, the white blade aiming for the throat. The impact was deafening. The entity blocked the blow with a forearm covered in a layer of mana. The sound of bone striking metal resonated throughout the entire room. Without giving it time to retaliate, Klein pivoted his hip to deliver a blow with the blade at the level of the ribs.
"Too slow," sneered the Antichrist, brutally increasing the gravitational pressure within a three-meter radius.
Klein felt his knees crack under the sudden weight of ten atmospheres. The floor beneath his feet cracked, threatening to swallow him into the foundations of the bastion. His breathing became a hoarse whistle as his lungs struggled against the compression.
’If I stay in its zone of influence, my organs will liquefy in less than a minute,’ he thought as a drop of blood escaped from his ear. Quickly, he activated his Dash skill to reappear a little farther from the Antichrist’s field of action.
< Eye of Perception >
He saw the gravity flows as dark currents and the flaws in the entity’s magical defense. With one motion, he raised his hand then attacked the Antichrist.
< Art: Sundering Eclipse - Second Movement: Quarter Moon >
Eight afterimages of his katana materialized in the mana-saturated air. They did not strike the Antichrist, but the gravitational currents themselves, slicing them like mere silk threads. The pressure disappeared instantly in a cry of torn reality.
Freed, Klein pivoted on himself and unleashed an aura-charged kick into his opponent’s solar plexus. The Antichrist was projected against a row of alchemical vats that exploded in a crash of glass and preserved organs.
The entity rose among the debris, Ariana’s silk robe in tatters, revealing porcelain skin now marked by purplish bruises. Its iridescent irises went out to leave place for two wells of absolute darkness.
"How dare you?" The Antichrist’s voice vibrated with a fury that made the walls of the bastion tremble. "I will crush your soul until you forget your own name!"
The space around it twisted. Hundreds of black sulfur lances formed in the void, pointed toward Klein.
< Demonic Magic: Rain of the Executor >
Klein clenched his fists with such violence that his knuckles whitened. Then he lowered himself, his torso almost parallel to the ground, while his katana pointed backward. All his muscle mass contracted, and his aura, of a glacial blue, ceased to radiate around him to concentrate solely on the edge of the two blades.
For its part, the Antichrist raised its hand and unleashed a rain of molten sulfur lances. These incandescent projectiles sped straight at Klein, tracing acrid smoke trails in the air. But at the precise moment when the first streak was about to reach him, Klein disappeared. It was not a simple rapid movement, for no physical acceleration could have subtracted him from such a dense fire. It was a voluntary obliteration of his presence in space-time, a technique that removed him from any fixed coordinate for a brief instant. Thus, he crossed the sulfur storm without a single lance being able to brush his silhouette, since he no longer occupied any determined point in reality.
He reappeared behind the Antichrist, his back turned to his opponent, but his katana already in motion. A white line marked the entity’s neck. Before this first cut could even close, a second line appeared across its torso. Then a hundred others burst out simultaneously.
The Antichrist opened its mouth, but only a hoarse breath came out. It tried to form a question, and its lips articulated a "How...?" that was lost in the hissing of the cuts. At that moment, Aeshma’s body, until then held in suspension, was crossed by countless cuts that sprang forth in sprays on its skin.
Klein slowly raised his head and planted his gaze into that of the wounded entity. His voice, barely louder than a whisper: "I told you," he said, "I fully intend to save Aeshma, and nothing and no one will be able to stand in my way."
