The voice echoed directly in our minds, a sound of shattering glass and screaming metal, accompanied by a screech so high-pitched it seemed intent on splitting our skulls. The words were not spoken; they were thought, felt, endured like a violation of our deepest mental intimacy.

Loriel narrowed her eyes, her face turned toward the celestial abomination. The light of the unholy flames danced across her weary features, illuminating her prominent cheekbones and cracked lips. Her hand instinctively moved to her chest, as if trying to protect her heart from this evil presence.

"What... what is that!?" she asked, her voice choked with fear.

"It’s... It’s the Antichrist!" I spat through gritted teeth, each syllable torn from a body that could take no more. The Usurper, the Thirteenth Constellation that sought to overthrow the established order, the one threatening to annihilate all our efforts.

The Eye vibrated, an overwhelming gravitational pressure crashing down on the plateau. I felt my bones cracking under the force of this presence, my joints groaning under a weight that was not physical but nonetheless so real. The ground beneath us cracked, creating a network of fissures that stretched as far as the eye could see.

"I’m busy, you have to hold it back," I ordered my companions without breaking my flow of concentration. "Anyway, it won’t be able to appear physically in the world of mortals! Not yet!"

Loriel, carried by one last surge of desperate heroism, tried to deploy her wings of light. Filaments of energy burst from her shoulder blades, seeking to form the immaculate feathers that had so often been our last resort. She wanted to soar into the heavens to challenge the entity, to make it pay for every second of suffering it inflicted on us.

But before she could even leave the ground, an invisible shockwave of incomprehensible power swept the area. The air warped, the light twisted, and the impact was so violent that her wings were literally incinerated, transformed into ethereal ashes in a fraction of a second. The feathers of light went out like shooting stars.

All her arcane mana, her vital reserve as a ninth-circle mage, was burned away instantly by the mere presence of the Antichrist. The flow of energy that had coursed through her for years, which made her one of the most powerful archangels, dried up in the blink of an eye.

She spat a gush of scarlet blood and then her eyes rolled back. Her body collapsed, inert, falling into unconsciousness. Her fall was heavy, her skull hitting the stone with a dull thud that echoed in the silence.

Aeshma clenched her teeth hard enough to break her jaw. She looked at Loriel, then turned her gaze back to me. The black lightning of demonic power pulsed around her wrists, arcs of energy that seemed eager to break free. Her beauty, usually so cold and inaccessible, was now marked by lines of fatigue and traces of tears she refused to let fall.

"We’re not powerful enough to repel it..." she murmured, her voice barely audible. She turned to me, a silent plea in her red eyes. "Do you swear to me that you’ll save him?"

I looked at her, my face pale with exhaustion but my will unshakable. My white eyes, still devoid of humanity, met hers. I could read all the anguish, all the love, all the despair she was trying so desperately to hide.

"Just give me the system. I’ll transfer it to him."

Aeshma closed her eyes. A long shiver ran through her body, and she placed a hand on her own forehead, her fingers sinking into her flesh as if seeking something much deeper. An energy of sickly green and electric purple began to seep from her skin, radiating from her forehead like a crown of luminous thorns.

It was the system, the heretical interface capable of turning a mortal into a god. Tearing it from her soul was an agony without name. A moan escaped her lips, first faint, then louder and louder, until it became a scream of pain that tore through the air. She too spat black blood, her body wracked with spasms, as the essence of the system materialized in the form of an unstable crystal between her fingers.

The crystal was of a terrifying beauty, its facets capturing the light of the celestial flames, its colors dancing in a precarious balance. It pulsed to the rhythm of an invisible heart, as if it were alive.

"You don’t need to be afraid," I told her to reassure her as I took the artifact. My voice, though weak, carried an unshakable conviction. "I’m going to send it into the past, well before the third world war... To prevent the thirteenth constellation from finding it. Then he will be able to reincarnate in a more favorable cycle."

Aeshma smiled, a sigh of pure relief escaping her pale lips. For the first time in hours, a glimmer of hope lit up her face, dispelling the shadows of death that had begun to settle there.

"Thank you..." she said, her voice barely more than a whisper. "So I can die without regret."

Suddenly, she summoned all the power she had left. A pearly flame, a burst of pure vital energy, exploded from her body. Her silhouette became blurrier, more ethereal, as if she were preparing to dissolve into the air. She did not look back. She leaped, like a meteor of darkness, toward the Eye that loomed over the world.

I continued my mudras. My hands became a blur of mystical movement, tracing geometric figures in the air that glowed with a silvery light. The system crystal vibrated between my fingers, adapting to my energy, absorbing my will.

A luminous shockwave exploded from my mana heart, radiating in all directions like a miniature supernova. Lucifer opened his eyes one last time and looked at Aeshma in the distance.

"You’d better save her... She sacrificed everything for you, you little bastard..."

Then his consciousness vanished, torn from the fabric of the present, sent through the currents of time toward another timeline.

Silence fell over the plateau, a heavy and final silence, broken only by Loriel’s hoarse breathing and the weakened beat of my own heart.

I collapsed, my strength finally exhausted, a smile on my lips. I had accomplished my mission. I had saved what could still be saved.

But just as I thought it was all over, my disciples suddenly appeared. And in their eyes, they had not come to help me.
