Chapter 569 - 2,700,000,000
Heinz continued to scream and struggle, but the third-phase soldiers did not show an ounce of mercy, forcefully dragging him away.
Lumina struggled against Sophia, who was dragging her away, but she could not do anything. She only cried tears looking at Axel’s dying figure falling from the sky.
Sophia fought against the Soul Brand but could not do anything.
Lucien’s eyes snapped open. Falling from the skies, he quickly controlled himself in mid-air, about to rush toward Axel to save him. But multiple 4th phase existences stopped him as well.
Above the skies of the Human camp, where the three kings were afloat, their figures hidden from all eyes. King Leonidas spoke, "Rugen, if you don’t mind...."
The King of Blackvale, in response to that, snapped his fingers, and a shockwave spread through the battlefield.
Heinz, Lumina, Sophia, Lucien, Thorian, Enrick, and Jaden all turned unconscious. Their bodies teleported within the camps. Even all the human soldiers, be it the third or fourth phase. All of them were teleported out of the battlefield.
Only Axel Nomrad and Osiris remained, along with his minions.
The Sun King watched on with rapt attention as to what the demon intended to do with the Absolute Runecaster. Though the Valkyrie was not killed due to the incompetence of Zabiur, Leonidas would be more than happy just to see Axel Nomrad die in the hands of the demons.
But the unease in him seemed to remain as strong as ever, with no signs of receding. He could almost hear his own heartbeat growing louder....
BANG!!!!
Axel’s body hit the bloody ground of the battlefield, all his bones broken, and with the Giant sword still skewered into his chest. He gasped for breath. Almost at the end of his rope.
The masked figure of Gareth landed right beside Axel’s dying figure, and 7 more demonic entities appeared.
Zen Karmann, Zena Karmann.
Wangnan Baek
Conner Ravenspire, Elira Whitehelm, Theron Stormmere, and Caelan Dawnridge.
They all brought out their weapons.
Squelch,
Kachink...
Shrek....
One by one, all of them pierced their rune weapons into the vitals of Axel Nomrad.
Gareth stated slowly, his voice demonic, containing a small quiver that he could not hide. "We sacrifice 500,000 fragments of the Oathbreaker stones."
He shouted, his voice a booming declaration of profane glory,
"WE SACRIFICE IT TO PRIME NEXUS."
"TO AWAKEN THE SPIRIT OF PRIME NEXUS."
The instant those words were uttered, an earthquake ran through the capital of Suncrest; it was so strong that cracks spread through the walls of the Royal Palace of Suncrest, and the unblemished structural symbol of the Suncrest dynasties’ millennial rule was severely shaken.
But if one looked closely, the true source of the quake came from far behind it: the ginormous black pillar that existed, stretching endlessly beyond the heavens, which no entity of this continent could ever cross over.
The entirety of that Nexus Black Pillar from which Nexus stones are harvested trembled madly. In a flash, innumerable rune symbols of unknown origin flashed across that black pillar’s body in blinding golden radiance, like never before.
This happened to all three of the Black Pillars that existed within the confines of humanity, the other two pillars standing right behind the Blackvale and Samartan royal palaces.
From all three of the black pillars shining in the golden radiance of countless rune symbols. An indistinct smoke oozed out, a form of energy that could neither be seen nor comprehended.
Traces of that glittering smoke escaping from all three of the black pillars rushed in the direction of the battlefield.
At the same time, at the Ghost race camp, the 6th phase commander of the Third Ghost Legion hovered in the air, watching everything unfold. He had already sent away all of his troops and the gathered Oathbreaker stones from the Human Lands through sea vessels.
Only he remained, because just like Leonidas, he was also feeling an ominous foreboding coming from the battlefield, as if something harrowing was about to occur; in that account, the mighty Death Knight should have left, but curiosity won over him.
Because the sense of danger was not directed at himself.
Until he felt something unfathomable approaching, a presence greatly dwarfing even the power of the Ghost Emperor.
By instinct alone, the mid-sixth-phase existence’s body disappeared from his spot as he shot out of the confines of the entire human land in one step. The Death Knight was filled with boundless terror for the first time in hundreds of years.
He whispered in dread, "The Spirit of Prime?????????????????????????"
"HOW CAN THIS BE?????"
"HOW CAN THIS BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The 6th phase, Undead, mumbled in such terror that it seemed as if he had gone mad.
Meanwhile, the three 6th-phase Kings of humanity instantly felt the growing tremor spreading from all three Black Pillars of Humanity; the drastic change in their expressions could no longer be described as ’shock’.
Leonidas could hear his own heart pounding in an unknown fear...
Badump!
Badumppp!!!
Badumpppp!!!!!
It was the first time the Strongest of Humanity had experienced this emotion since his advancement to the 6th phase.
Leonidas’s gaze turned vicious as he looked towards the Demons; they were behind this. Whatever they were attempting to do was the source of his unease and fear.
Without any warning, he dashed towards the battlefield in a mere second, and he was determined to destroy all of them with his own hands, including Axel Nomrad, to end this farce.
Yet, the moment he moved, a gigantic divine barrier of shimmering golden hue appeared, encompassing the battlefield.
The strength of that barrier was so great that Leonidas’s figure was abruptly smashed against the barrier, but his figure was shot back greatly.
The barrier did not even budge or ripple.
Leonidas growled and attacked the barrier, feeling even more terrified.
King Rugen and Uzbek also joined in as the three 6th-phase humans attacked together, with their strongest might aimed at the barrier, unmindful of any consequences.
The three trails of glittering, starry smoke that oozed from the three black pillars reached the top of the battlefield, seeping through the golden barrier.
All of that smoke condensed in an ethereal manner, eventually forming the hazy shape of a female with alien beauty made of glowing starlight, and just from the outlines of that figure, she seemed even more beautiful than the Valkyrie.
She was like an abstract entity who was right there yet not; she could bend the world just by existing.
She was the Spirit of Prime Nexus.
The moment she appeared, all the demons grabbed the handles of the weapon that had been skewered into the dying figure of Axel Nomrad, and started to pour all of their demonic energy through the weapon into the body of Axel.
Gareth gritted his teeth; he looked towards the others and nodded, and all eight of the Demons uttered in unison, their demonic voices echoing like a song of disharmony,
"Demon Hal Vasa..."
"Demoras Gal Rasa..."
The instant the ancient demonic syllables were uttered.
The shaking of the three Black pillars of humanity stopped. Still, the golden symbols covering the pillars remained, and the panicked citizens existing within the capitals of the Great Kingdoms managed to heave a sigh of momentary relief.
Only for something even worse to happen in the few seconds.
The ground began to quake violently, not just in the capitals but also in major regional cities in the Dusker and Valanir Regions.
Including the minor kingdoms’ various cities. Every single major point in all of humanity where large crowds gather from afar.
A harrowing, beastly shriek came from the grounds, mundane and powerful, and all people began to run like madmen as if the apocalypse had arrived.
Titanic Death Worms oozing with demonic power tore through the grounds of cities, leaving everything in devastation.
But the Death Worms did not attack a single human; they writhed madly as if in unbelievable pain. In their attempt to escape from the insidious pain coursing through their bodies, the Death Worms destroyed anything and everything in sight.
The 5th Phase powerhouses of humanity did not remain idle; they rushed to kill these powerful Death Worms that seemed to have popped out of the ground from nowhere.
However, before they could do so.
The thousands of Death Worms crawling and destroying the major lands and people of humanity exploded in a catastrophic maelstrom of blood and fragments of flesh.
The Demonised Death Worms self-destructed, unable to handle the harrowing pain coursing through their veins.
This immediately resulted in the death of thousands upon thousands of people, but that was the least concerning part of it.
The blood from the explosion of thousands of 4th-tier Death Worms, containing traces of demonic energy, was infused into the skies and the air, and that blood rained endlessly across almost all of humanity.
To the mundane humans, it looked as if the world itself was ending. No matter how much they ran, traces of the demonic blood still painted them red.
No matter where they hid, Demon pollen spread through all of humanity, carried by the waves of air, and invaded the lungs of the mundane humans.
Slowly but surely, the chaotic demonic energy began to affect mundane humans, and black veins spread across their bodies.
People dropped to their knees, their strength being sapped from their bodies, and lay flat on the ground, wherever they may be, unable to keep their eyes open. This gradually affected more and more humans.
From one..
To two,
To hundreds...
To Hundreds of Thousands...
To millions...
To hundreds of millions and eventually....
Inevitably, the Demonic Energy had affected more than 2 billion and 700 million humans...
The day that was supposed to be blissfully peaceful for humanity, bringing an end to a long-running conflict, had tragically become a profane catastrophe.
