Falling Mage and the Power of Divergence

Episode 147: Isi's Growth

I don't think I can believe it in my heart, Chris.

(But indisputable. It's called this swordsmanship, swordsmanship is just...)

I don't believe it. But the sword moves that Aisi is using today are the very swordsmanship that the boy was using. Not at the level of similarity. Exactly the same, exactly the same.

(Annorn's swordsmanship... was he alive...)

That was entirely with Annorn, the swordsmanship that Christina-Saya used.

Just for the record, Chris didn't look down on Seyya, although he called her Annone. That was the first time Chris fought only with Seyya and swordsmanship.

An incompetent, ignorant magician who can't use magic and knows nothing, Annone. That's what Chris thought at first. That's why Chris bracketed his high when he hit Seyya in hands-on training with only a weapon without magic in an instant.

But the results were different.

At the end of the game, Chris beat Seyya by a small margin. Clearly, it was a critical battle. If I was one step wrong, Chris could have lost.

By then Seyya's swordsmanship had excelled. And at the same time I thought.

"Why are you called Annone and despised? Though you cannot use magic, you have not failed in your efforts. [M] If you could have used magic, you would have been a great magician".

That was also precisely sympathy for Seyya. What a pathetic magician Seiya is, being scorned for just not being able to use magic and being treated indifferently from around her.

"You are born in the wrong place. You should have been born in Frestan, where strength is. [M] And with that effort we may one day be able to break the magic."

Chris has always thought so.

But before telling Seyya that, Seyya died. Get caught up in that case.

Even though I say so, the swordsmanship used by the girl in front of me, Aisi, is now an exact match for Seyya's. Maybe he asked the same teacher to teach him, but he's too consistent nonetheless.

That was just enough to think that Aisi had been taught the sword by Seyya.

"Annorn, Christina Seyya was alive, wasn't she?

Chris shrugged so as he recieved Aisi's sword. That was closer to simple confirmation than asking for answers.

And to that confirmation, Aisi answers.

"Yes."

"Right."

Saiya is alive. The moment I understood that, I felt a little bit removed from Chris' heart. I understand it's not my fault, but when I think my classmate is dead, it's something I feel responsible for on my own.

That's why Chris felt responsible on his own. If at that time I was transferring to Annone, there would have been a lot of days when I thought, etc. But in the end, from what I've thought, nothing changes.

I just didn't have the courage to take that step.

I was just afraid that I would lose my reputation for engaging with Saiya.

I was just weak in my heart.

Chris was made to understand that at some point.

Listening to Seyya's survival, Chris was relieved to be glad from the bottom of his heart. And at the same time, he felt he could concentrate on the Leirian Magic Games.

"I'm serious, too."

"Knock..."

At the next moment, Chris, who was on the defensive side of the battle, goes out to fight back.

Chris launched a high-speed series of attacks, which hit Aisi. Its speed is obviously so fast and sharp that I have been training my double swords from time to time.

There's nothing Aisi can do about Chris' double-sword, which is suddenly fast and sharp. Chris' double-sword power, as far as Aisi's concerned, is mutually reinforcing with Seyya. And Aisi couldn't beat Seiya once during her last-minute reinforcement sleepover.

That means Icy can't beat Chris.

(Tough......)

Aisi manages to figure out a way to open it in her mind, but none of it is enough to make a decision. Choosing an operation that you are not sure will succeed is too risky.

When that happens, the means by which Aishi can be taken will inevitably be an escape. But Issy asks herself.

(Can I run away here?)

Situationally it is right that the unfavourable Issy escapes. But Aisi didn't want to run away. Because if I ran away here, Seiya seemed to think I ran away too.

(Don't Run, Win)

When Aisi was newly prepared, she began to wave her double sword as if it were Seyya.

"Don't you run away"

Chris was just a little surprised by Icy's choice. Aishi was definitely thought to choose to escape in this situation, but I never thought he'd come up against me.

"Take it and stand"

When Chris declares high, he hits Aisi's double sword with his own.

But at this time, Chris was already convinced of his victory.

Because Chris could see Aisi's sword, not least because he knew where it was coming from.

As Aisi tried to attack Chris with renewed readiness, Aisi's swordsmanship changed just as it did with nature and Saiya's swordsmanship. That means Aisi's swordsmanship has become entirely Saiya's swordsmanship.

Until just now, some of the swordsmanship was Aisi, but now it is completely Saiya's swordsmanship. And if you make it Chris, who has fought Seyya, that swordsmanship is something you've already seen, and you knew how to attack it.

So with each overlay of swords, Chris went unconsciously caught off guard. That's unconscious alarm you can't even try to pay attention to. No matter how conscious you are, your mind will be caught off guard at will.

And Aisi felt the alarm. No, I was well guided.

This is Aisi's operation. Aisi thought that she realized she couldn't win a serious battle from the front. I wondered how I could win. And I don't think of that answer other than poking at the other guy's gap.

Then how do you poke Chris' gap? The opponent is a first-rate double-swordsman, you won't easily find a gap or anything. Then you can make your own gaps.

Saiya also said. He said the battle is something he controls without his opponent realizing it.

Then how do we make a gap? That only has to keep Chris alert. Chris saw his swordsmanship and thought Seiya was alive. That means Chris has fought with Seyya with two swords.

And Chris knows Seyya's swordsmanship.

Then wouldn't Chris be cautious on his own if he mimicked Saiya's swordsmanship?

That's what Aisi thought. And now Chris is unconsciously caught off guard, a little bit from earlier, but he can also hear the gap.

(This is a chance)

For the first time there, Aisi incorporated her own movement into a series of motions, unlike Seyya's.

"This!?

We're late for Chris's reaction. Aisi continues to mix in her original movements and pushes Chris into it.

"Knock."

"It's over. Ice de Lancer."

Chris, distracted by Aisi's sword, which was attacking him from the front, had neglected to be alert to the rear.

That attack would have been avoided under normal conditions, but now Chris was progressively behind on Issy's streak, so he couldn't be on guard at the rear.

"Shit......"

By the time I realized it was too late. The next moment, the ice pierces Chris' chest from the rear. The ice is Lance, which Issy shot out of the ground towards Chris.

"Fighting is what you see around you all the time"

Oh, my God.

Chris was the last to say so and retired it as dust of light.

"It was dangerous. It's time to rendezvous with someone."

Isi was going through the woods area, whining about it.

Urban area centrally located on the map. This is also the heart of Lapis Island, the venue for the Leirian Magic Games.

There were three magicians in such an urban area.

The two are boys in uniform at the Holkinar School of Magic in northern Aquaristan.

And the other magician is Zill-Nefla, a boy in a Saladitius School of Magic uniform. It is the same family of premium magicians as Youre.

Those were the three of us, but the battle was already coming to an end.

Boys in Holkinar Magic School uniforms running away from Zill. They had successfully used ruins specific to the urban area to escape the zill.

Jill, on the other hand, was following the boys as she walked to spare her time.

Staring at one of the boys fleeing with those sharp eyes, he sets up the demonic gun he was holding in his right hand. The overall red, short centre of gravity demon gun is not similar to Serena's demon gun, but it's the same demon gun.

Seeing Jill set up a demonic gun, the boy, who understood he was being targeted, immediately exercises defensive magic to deploy a wall of magic before him.

Though I can't afford that face, I'm willing to prevent an attack.

"You're weak."

Jill squeaked at such a boy, pulling the trigger of a demonic gun.

It was a sharp laser that got shot off. Similar to Serena's "Atutos," Zill's shot out laser goes straight to the boy without branching.

"With such a simple attack... what!?

"You're still weak."

At that moment when he thought the boy had prevented the laser, Zill's laser easily broke through the wall of magic that the boy was unfolding and shot out about the boy as well.

Surprised by its overwhelming offensive power, the boy retires as dust of light.

But it was the moment.

"Got it."

Just after shooting out the boy. Suddenly, behind Zill, another boy appears. The boy's hand holds a sword wrapped in magic, and he's going to kill Jill now.

The demonic gun in Jill's right hand is facing forward and can't handle it. The boy's attack was based on understanding it. So the boy, the next moment, is stunned.

Soon there was also a demonic gun in Jill's left hand.

"Signs are uncovered."

Zill pulls the trigger of the demonic gun without looking behind him, and the laser is shot out, just like earlier. And that laser shot through the boy and made him retire as dust of light.

"They're all too weak. Don't you have a stronger enemy?"

That's what Zill said about moving through the city area.
