Chapter 2427: The Child Has Grown Up
The doctor performing the auscultation held their breath and listened carefully, seemingly hearing some abnormalities in the lung breath sounds. If laryngitis is quite severe, one can hear conductive sounds from the throat or bronchial breathing sounds. The child’s heart rate is slightly fast.
Student Duan turned around and took a disinfected direct laryngoscope from the desk to perform a simple throat examination on the child. The direct laryngoscope had been explained before and wasn’t repeated again.
This is how doctors diagnose; they must rule out all common suspected diseases to avoid misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis. After this series of examinations, more than ten minutes had passed. The family members watching anxiously on the side began to doubt whether these young doctors were competent. Families always think that since they come to the hospital for an emergency, doctors should be able to solve the problem quickly. In fact, it’s impossible, not only for young doctors but senior doctors also need to rule out possibilities out of caution.
"Are you going to give the child an injection first?" the child’s mother urged the doctors.
A preliminary judgment was made for acute pediatric laryngitis. The doctor would first prescribe medications and injections for treatment. The child’s condition is relatively urgent, classified as second-degree laryngitis. Student Wei hurriedly ran out to call the nurse to give the child an injection first.
As Student Wei ran through the emergency department corridor, Wei’s Mother came out of the teacher’s office. Watching her son’s silhouette in his white coat flowing, Wei’s Mother felt sentimental, her son had grown up.
"Let’s go take a look together," Cao Zhao said to the student’s parents.
Certainly, having come here, she wanted to take a closer look at her son acting as a doctor. Wei’s Mother took a deep breath, seemingly calming her pounding heartbeat, and walked over. Cao Zhao and Doctor Cheng accompanied her to check on the students’ work situation.
The young doctors couldn’t afford to worry about anything else, focusing intently on handling the child’s condition. A few of them helped hold the child’s limbs while the nurse smoothly took blood and administered the IV drip.
After treating the symptoms threatening the child’s life, the parents must be informed of any abnormal conditions such as the child exhibiting clubfoot.
"You said this foot is abnormal, what should be done?" The child’s parents, naturally nervous after hearing the doctors, asked.
"We’ll consult an orthopedic doctor," they told the parents, contacting the pediatric orthopedist from the inpatient department.
What the young doctors did not expect was that the orthopedic doctor who came down was not the first-line duty resident but Liu Huaiyu, whom they had met before.
Liu Huaiyu had the demeanor of an artist, his white coat unbuttoned, coming down the stairs looking suave and composed. For such an associate chief physician, unless he tells them otherwise, he usually trails a group of students like little followers.
Such a sudden appearance of doctors like this can scare the child’s parents. Therefore, experienced doctors would think twice before going in to see the child and parents, considering not bringing all the students inside.
At the child’s emergency observation bed, just before pulling the curtain aside, Liu Huaiyu curiously looked at his old friend Cao Zhao standing outside: Why aren’t you going in?
Cao Zhao did not have to say: I can watch my kid however I want.
Liu Huaiyu was not unaware of Wei’s Mother standing beside him.
After the curtain was drawn, Student Wei realized his mother had not left, furrowing his brow: Mom, why haven’t you left yet, do you want my classmates to laugh at me?
Wei’s Mother waved her hand at her son: Okay, okay, I’m leaving.
Having seen her son seriously being a doctor, Wei’s Mother’s face once again showed a smile, and she turned to leave the hospital.
