Chapter 2584 - 1127: Accursed Fate (Part 3)
Their connection in a past life remained at the level of familiar travel companions.
While climbing the Endless Heavenly Ladder, they supported each other.
However, it wouldn’t be long before they each diverged due to their own objectives, merely smiling and waving goodbye to each other.
Even now, Gaven does not know her real name, only her codename — Card Queen.
This nickname originated from the deck of cards at her waist; she is the top card game master. The God of Tricks, Loki, once hosted her in his God Kingdom and was defeated by her in a card game.
In his previous life, Gaven mentioned this matter more than once, but the Card Queen always smiled and dismissed it.
So up until now, Gaven does not know whether this rumor is true or false.
When the Card Queen ascended the staircase platform, she immediately closed her eyes and took a deep breath, from her heart exclaiming: "Such a fragrant aroma, even the signature dishes of Imprint City’s best taverns could scarcely compare, and it’s rare to encounter it on the Endless Heavenly Ladder."
Her common language had a very noticeable exotic accent, melodic and poignant, adding several points to her charm invisibly.
Besides her innate talent, her voice had clearly been specially trained, and at a very high level at that.
Among all the people Gaven has met, only two could stand shoulder to shoulder with her; one was an incarnation of the God of Songs, the other was Regina, the Battle Valley Princess.
The Card Queen then politely bowed: "I wonder if I might use my skills in exchange for a bite to eat. Singing, tricks, dancing—all are possible. If you’re interested, I can also play a few rounds of card games with you."
She saw through the unusual aura surrounding Gaven and his companions, unfazed, for she had interacted with worse entities before, such as Eye Demons, and Mind Flayers.
She could always persuade or even please them, allowing her to leave and continue her travels on the Endless Heavenly Ladder.
"It’s our honor." Gaven responded with a smile, "If possible, I’d like to exchange intelligence about the Endless Heavenly Ladder with you."
Encountering a familiar face from a past life is inherently a joyful occasion.
If the other party holds intelligence urgently needed by oneself, it is all the more worth celebrating.
"Of course." The Card Queen typically warmed up to acquaintances.
She took off her magical travel bag and retrieved her utensils from it, using them directly as a stool, sitting by the hanging pot.
Skilfully she fetched food from the hanging pot and inquired: "What intelligence are you seeking?"
As Gaven gathered new ingredients and drinks from his portable space, he replied with a grin: "No hurry for intelligence, let’s first eat and drink our fill."
"Ah... So hot... So spicy... So delicious..." The Card Queen panted from the heat, her hands unable to stop, "This is indeed a novel way of eating, does it have its own name?"
"Hotpot!" Gaven answered, "Anything can be hotpot."
"It truly lives up to its name." The Card Queen’s gaze fell on the chopsticks in their hands, "Are there any more of these utensils?"
The knife and fork in her hand were visibly less nimble than the chopsticks Gaven and Taharissi wielded, easily scooping up any kind of ingredient.
"Here." Gaven gestured, causing a pair of new chopsticks and bowls to appear out of thin air before the three of them.
Divine Power Shaping.
This is a skill mastered by all Divine Power Presence.
With this ability, ordinary mortals would not qualify to occupy space in Gaven’s Portable Dimensional Bag.
The three present were accustomed to such occurrences, showing no signs of surprise.
In the Material Plane, Divine Power Presence is a rare existence.
In the Multiverse, it may not be found everywhere, but it is certainly not scarce.
Especially for someone whose home is the Endless Heavenly Ladder, her level of awareness far exceeds mortal imagination.
"Thank you." After receiving them, the Card Queen adeptly adapted and utilized them, handling the speed not much slower than Taharissi.
At her level, learning speeds are far above ordinary people.
Do not be fooled by the Card Queen’s frail appearance, she is also an indisputable big eater, consuming three pots, enough to match the appetite of three adult men, before slowing down to rest.
Her nose was slightly red, her head steaming, her appearance one of effusive satisfaction, praising again: "Good food, it’s been so long since I’ve eaten so comfortably, if there’s a cold drink, even Extreme Bliss Fairyland would be just so!"
Before her words were finished, Gaven had already handed over a crystal goblet, containing Ghost Grape Wine that emitted a chilling aura, "Ghost Grape Wine, a specialty of my domain!"
"You are one of the most understanding people I’ve ever met." The Card Queen spoke with some embarrassment, "Eating and drinking from you, let me offer a song as gratitude."
Adding a note, "This is extra, I’m still willing to share intelligence on the Endless Heavenly Ladder with you."
"That is our honor." Gaven did not decline.
He understood her personality well, once you refuse, only then would she feel uncomfortable.
She had a severe need to please.
Her vow on the Endless Heavenly Ladder is well known.
Her destination was the moon at the top of the Ladder, a moon unlike any in the Material Plane, a moon that only appears in Paradise.
She intends to cross every door of the Ladder, please the inhabitants of those worlds, obtain their approval, then return to continue climbing the Ladder.
She believes that only by doing so can she eventually reach where she wishes to go.
Precisely because of this widely known vow, even those as evil as Demons often view her differently, choosing to give her a pass most of the time.
Because such a presence indeed brings them unprecedented joy, doing things they cannot do, even anticipating her next visit.
Of course, personal strength is an essential component.
