Chapter 2590 - 1129: World Traveler Guild (Part 3)
In Gaven’s view, this place was a natural elevator shaft. If an elevator were built here, could it quickly move up and down?
This idea was immediately dismissed by Gaven himself.
Such straightforward mechanical equipment is utterly powerless against folded spaces, making its use very limited.
However, some ideas could be expanded.
Would those magic elevators, driven by magic power, be feasible?
Directly completing the connection between two effective floors, especially those staircase levels with portals, combined with one’s road divine power, is not entirely impossible.
The complexity of this matter is akin to installing elevators on the Himalayas or tiling the Great Wall.
Along the way, they naturally encountered no fewer than one door, with varied appearances and destinations, and the Card Queen recounted them expertly.
"This door leads to the Water Elemental Plane. Before entering, it’s best to prepare accordingly. An underwater breathing agent is a must, and preferably a related piece of magic equipment; otherwise, you’ll drown inside."
It was an arch of water erected on the edge of a platform, without any solid parts. Waves surged on the other side of the arch, like a window open to the seabed, with various aquatic creatures swaying past from time to time.
This watery arch was fitted with a unique set of magic equipment, ending in a faucet-like device, where a group of winged snake women lined up with water bags or buckets to draw water.
Two winged snake women, holding water pitchforks with ropes, occasionally cast them out and pulled various catches from the Water Element Portal.
Interdimensional fishing might not be exclusive to the Endless Heavenly Ladder, but it is certainly rare.
Aside from Taharissi taking a couple of extra glances, others were used to this sight.
The lifestyle on the Endless Heavenly Ladder is far more diverse than one might imagine, and resources are not as scarce as expected, as supplies can be gathered from various planes through portals.
The winged snake women, as guardians of the Endless Heavenly Ladder, are undoubtedly diligent.
They can often be seen circling around some portals, performing spell repairs to keep the portal’s power at bay.
Taking the Water Element Portal previously mentioned, without this magical protection.
It is estimated that the Endless Heavenly Ladder would have an additional waterfall, with countless aquatic creatures falling endlessly.
In comparison, the Water Element Portal is relatively safe.
There is also the portal that gushes green smoke.
And the flame portal that burns nonstop.
No matter which type, they are exceptionally deadly to ordinary people.
There are many types of portals on the Endless Heavenly Ladder.
Some are permanent, some are temporary, and others open only under specific times and conditions.
New portals may occasionally open, while old ones may disappear.
This is a world of constant change.
"We’ve arrived!" The Card Queen announced as she was first to step onto the staircase platform.
Gaven and Taharissi quickly followed.
They felt a sudden broadening before them, the noise overwhelming, as if entering a new world.
This platform was a thousand times larger than ordinary platforms, crowded with various constructions, and even had a narrow pedestrian street in the middle, filled with innumerable creatures of varying appearances.
There were humans, dwarves, elves, and gnomes from the Material Plane, demons from the Bottomless Abyss, devils from The Nine Hells, and angelic divine races from the Upper Plane.
These vastly different races mixed together surprisingly harmoniously, without making a scene.
Taharissi nearly dropped her glasses as an angel and a succubus passionately kissed in the street, while nearby people acted unfazed, not giving them a second glance.
This moment shattered certain perceptions she had held.
The Card Queen seemed to notice Taharissi’s emotions and explained with a smile: "The inclusiveness is not exclusive to Imprint City; the Endless Heavenly Ladder is similarly accepting. Every race has its rebels, and the World Traveler Guild has the most of such people.
As long as you don’t violate the rules here, no one will investigate your past. Those who reach here all have their own stories and goals.
Once they have traveled enough or found their life’s purpose, they might leave and settle in a certain plane."
Taharissi returned to her expressionless state and nodded: "I was too ignorant, thank you, Miss, for guiding us. Let’s part here, I plan to live here for a while."
Saying that, she walked into the crowd without looking back.
"We will meet again by chance." Gaven did not hinder but waved goodbye, as if parting from a friend.
"Better not." Taharissi’s cold voice drifted back, quickly melding into the swarm and disappearing.
The Card Queen showed undisguised surprise: "I thought you were adventure teammates!"
"Not now, doesn’t mean not in the future." Gaven replied with an open smile, "Future matters are unpredictable."
"True." The Card Queen agreed, "The Endless Heavenly Ladder looks big, yet is small. As long as she’s here, I believe it won’t take long to meet again. Come, I’ll take you to the guild headquarters, where World Travelers exchange information, most likely finding the door you need."
"I can go myself; no need to trouble you further!" Gaven was quite familiar with the World Traveler Guild.
In his past life while exploring the Endless Heavenly Ladder, he had joined and even climbed to high rank, maintaining good relations with several realm masters.
Unlike ordinary guilds, the World Traveler Guild’s structure is relatively loose, offering little restraint on members to better facilitate the exchange of door information among guild members while exploring the whole Endless Heavenly Ladder.
Rising to high rank isn’t exactly easy nor overly difficult.
The requirement is to explore enough doors in the Endless Heavenly Ladder and donate relevant information to the World Traveler Guild.
Most realm masters in the Guild are traveling mages specializing in teleportation spells, spending most of their time traveling among planes, rarely staying at the World Traveler Guild headquarters.
More commonly found here are those with relatively low power or regular members who cannot open portals themselves.
