Chapter 363-Following Her Ex

Theodore:

"What about Diana? Did you find out what happened to her?"

That was only the second thing Verity asked.

She wasn’t even focused on her own wolf or what had just happened to her. She was already worrying about another person who had suffered.

"Yeah. She was being blackmailed. It looks like some guy named Rocky was behind it," Jaguar explained, his expression falling as he watched Verity process the news.

"Don’t worry. We’re in contact with Ragnar. He’ll keep us updated on everything that’s happening, okay?" I added, trying to reassure her.

Verity shook her head.

"He should be punished in the worst way possible too," she hissed, clenching her fist.

"Don’t worry. He will be. We have his phone number now, so we’ll be able to track him."

Verity finally released some of the tension in her body and rested her head against the back of the bathtub.

"You two go be with your brother. I’ll stay with Verity," Jenna told us again, clearly trying to get us out of the bathroom.

At that point, if I kept insisting on staying, it would start to look strange.

Jaguar gave me a look that basically said we should leave, and honestly, I wanted to.

Because if I refused to go, Jaguar probably wouldn’t leave either, and something about him standing there while his future sister-in-law sat soaking wet in a bathtub was starting to bother me.

I never thought I would be that possessive.

But I was.

And that confused the hell out of me.

We both left her wing looking defeated and went to sit silently on the couch.

I rested one elbow on the armrest, my finger brushing the bottom of my lip. My legs stretched toward the table as I leaned back.

Jaguar sat across from me with his arms spread along the sofa and his head lowered.

Then a strange thought crossed my mind.

Ragnar had always given us complete freedom around Gigi. We could go shopping with her, eat with her, spend time with her.

He trusted us.

It almost seemed as though he only became jealous when he genuinely thought something might be going on.

I had assumed Jaguar and I would be the same way.

Sure, with Gigi, we sometimes competed for her attention and got jealous when one of us spent more time with her, but it was playful.

I would never seriously resent my brother for being close to her.

That was just how we were.

We teased each other, acted offended, and fought over her attention because Gigi enjoyed it.

But seeing Jaguar standing in that bathroom with Verity had actually made me jealous.

Not playful jealousy.

Real jealousy.

I felt insecure.

I didn’t like the thought of her sitting there drenched while Jaguar looked at her.

And the fact that Jaguar could see her like that bothered me too.

That was what unsettled me the most.

If Verity and I ever became something real, what if Ragnar and Jaguar wanted to be just as close to her as we were to Gigi?

What then?

I wouldn’t allow it.

I wouldn’t like it at all.

"What are you thinking about?" Jaguar asked, making me lift my head.

"Nothing. I was just thinking about Rocky. He has to be connected to all of this somehow, right? He couldn’t have just appeared out of nowhere and done this."

Jaguar straightened slightly.

"Right now, all we have is his phone number. Ragnar is digging deeper into it."

Jaguar had barely finished speaking when Ragnar suddenly walked into the house.

The way he entered told me immediately that he had news.

A visibly distraught Rochelle followed behind him.

"Okay, you guys need to hear this," Ragnar announced, pointing at both of us.

Jaguar and I immediately sat up.

If Ragnar had brought Rochelle here, then whatever he had found out about Rocky had to be important.

Rochelle looked terrible.

Her eyes had swollen badly in only a few hours, and she never once lifted her head.

I’d already heard that her mother was still refusing to accept that her daughter was gone. Her father was in such bad condition that he’d been admitted to the ICU after passing out when he saw Diana.

I could only imagine what Rochelle was going through, watching her entire family fall apart around her.

Ragnar came over and sat beside me on the couch, facing Rochelle as she lowered herself into the chair across from us.

"Is Verity okay?" he asked casually.

Before Rochelle could answer, he turned toward me.

"Of course, she has to be okay."

He practically answered the question himself before straightening his back and focusing on Rochelle, his eyes narrowing with interest.

I smiled faintly at my brother.

He cared about me enough that he was even willing to worry about Verity too.

"I know who Rocky is," Rochelle managed through a broken voice.

She swallowed hard.

"I used to date him. He’s my ex-boyfriend."

The words left her mouth between quiet whimpers as the realization hit her.

She had been the one who brought that bastard into their lives.

"He wasn’t a good person. But I don’t know why he did that to my sister."

Rochelle broke down again, making all of us clench our jaws.

"Well, it looks like we’re in luck. The warriors managed to pick up his phone signal. He’s staying somewhere along a deserted road," Ragnar said, reading from his phone.

Then he suddenly stopped.

"That’s odd."

"What is?" I asked, turning toward him.

Rochelle’s eyes widened, and Jaguar shifted his attention to Ragnar as well.

Ragnar hesitated, as though the words were difficult to get out.

"The signals are coming from the same deserted road where Gigi disappeared."

That was enough to catch everyone’s attention.

And somehow, hearing Rocky’s name connected to the same place where Gigi had vanished made everything feel much worse.

"We should go and follow the trail," Jaguar was the first to suggest.

I nodded and stood, glancing at Ragnar.

He was the only one who remained seated, his fist clenched tightly before he rolled his neck once.

"Let’s go."

The words came out like thunder.

If Rocky had any idea who was coming for him, he’d probably be pissing his pants right now.
