Shi Lan’s heart ached for him. She patted away the nonexistent dust on his clothes and helped him up. "As long as you’re okay."

Mu Tangfeng stood up. As he suddenly left Shi Lan’s warm embrace, a pang of regret and reluctance hit him. ’I’ve already embarrassed myself enough,’ he thought. ’I can’t keep making a fool of myself in front of Lanlan.’

"I’m sorry, Lanlan. I woke you up."

He apologized with his head lowered, his clean, soft, orange-yellow hair failing to hide his reddening ears.

Shi Lan shook her head. "No, no, not at all. I just turned off the light. I wasn’t asleep yet."

She gave Mu Tangfeng another once-over. He was wearing the same set of pajamas Yaoxing had bought him, now all wrinkled. A button at the collar was undone, revealing a slender, sexy collarbone with a curve so deep you could probably raise a fish in it.

She couldn’t help but steal another glance before asking, "Are you sure you’re not hurt? Check yourself again."

"I’m not."

Mu Tangfeng shook his head. Noticing Shi Lan’s gaze, he subconsciously buttoned his collar back up. The moment he did, however, he regretted it. ’I’m Lanlan’s Beast Husband,’ he thought. ’She likes me, so I should be happy. We’re a legally married couple now, so why am I hiding myself?’

’But would it be too obvious if I unbuttoned it again now?’

Torn with indecision, Mu Tangfeng ultimately didn’t do it.

A hint of disappointment flickered in Shi Lan’s eyes. ’Why has Mu Tangfeng gotten so stingy after we registered our marriage? Can’t I even look?’

She sighed internally. After confirming he was really okay, she said, "Well, I’m going back to my room to sleep. It’s late, you should get some rest too."

Mu Tangfeng nodded. He opened his mouth, wanting to say that as a married couple, they should sleep in the same bed. But then he remembered he was the one who had made up the separate beds. If he went back on his word now, wouldn’t Lanlan think he was being difficult?

While he was still hesitating, Shi Lan closed her door and went back to her room. He could only slap himself in regret again.

"Damn it, how could I be so stupid?"

"I finally won over my wife and we even registered our marriage, but we’re still sleeping in separate beds?"

He had no idea what he had been thinking at the time.

Dejectedly, Mu Tangfeng chugged a few large gulps of water. As the cool liquid went down, the thought that he wouldn’t be able to hold his wife’s soft body while they slept tonight made his heart grow cold.

He returned to his room, agitated. After tossing and turning in bed for a long time, he couldn’t hold back any longer and knocked on Shi Lan’s door.

Shi Lan was a light sleeper in new places and always took a while to fall asleep. Besides, she had already slept quite a bit during the day and had also rested in a Treatment Pod, so she was full of energy.

She was in her room, looking back at the photos she had taken over the past few days. Her once-empty chip gallery was suddenly filled with several hundred new pictures—all beautiful memories with the five of them.

As she looked at them, the corners of her mouth turned up involuntarily. When she heard the knock, she scrambled out of bed to open the door.

The moment the door opened, the man who had been flustered, anxious, and ashamed instantly transformed into a state of frailty. He decided to employ the same act he had always despised Jiang Xia for using. Thinking back to how well it had worked when the Eldest Prince copied it during the day, he resolved to put it into practice.

"Lanlan, I think my head feels a little dizzy."

Shi Lan had been about to ask him what was wrong. Hearing his words, her expression tightened. "Ah, don’t tell me you hit your head when you fell."

"Does your head hurt anywhere?"

Mu Tangfeng was secretly relieved that Shi Lan had found an excuse for him. He propped his forehead with a well-defined hand. "No, it just feels a little woozy."

He shook his head as he spoke, his dark eyes looking a bit dazed. Perhaps from the fall, his hair was a little messy, with a couple of stray strands sticking up, giving him a pitiful, broken look, like an abandoned puppy searching for someone to rely on.

Shi Lan pulled him inside and carefully checked the back of his head. She pressed a few spots. "Does it hurt here?"

Mu Tangfeng shook his head each time.

"It doesn’t hurt."

Shi Lan thought for a moment. "You might have a slight concussion. Why don’t you rest here in my room tonight? That way, you can call me right away if anything happens."

"Oh, right, do you have a Treatment Pod at home? Do you want to use it to check things out first?"

Mu Tangfeng was inwardly ecstatic. He immediately said, "No, I just moved in a few days ago and forgot to get a Treatment Pod."

Mu Tangfeng wasn’t actually lying about that. "I’ll have someone send one over tomorrow," he said.

"Alright. Are you sure you don’t need a Treatment Pod right now?"

Shi Lan still felt a little worried. Mu Tangfeng shook his head again. She studied him carefully and saw that his complexion was normal, save for a faint blush. Figuring it probably wasn’t a big deal, she stopped insisting and simply straightened up the empty space on the bed.

"Okay then. Let’s get some rest. The sooner you rest, the better. If you’re really dizzy and have a concussion, it’s best not to move around too much right now."

"Mhm."

Completely satisfied, Mu Tangfeng lay down.

Even though Shi Lan had only just arrived at his home, the room was already filled with her scent.

It felt as if just a few more breaths would infuse his very blood with her sweet fragrance.

An indescribable feeling of bliss suddenly swelled in his chest, and his fingers gripped the blanket tightly.

Just then, the mattress beside him dipped. Shi Lan had turned off the light and climbed into bed as well.

She left a small night-light on so she could easily check on Mu Tangfeng’s condition.

Mu Tangfeng subconsciously swallowed, his throat tightening as a feverish blush colored his eyes.

The fragrance seemed to grow stronger, surrounding him and seeping into his every pore, not unlike when Shi Lan had held him in her arms.

Perhaps because Shi Lan was lighter, the mattress adjusted to her weight, causing her to slowly slide toward him. Before they knew it, the half-meter distance between them had closed until their arms were touching.

Mu Tangfeng felt the softness of her body. The moment they touched, a soft groan escaped his throat. Heat coursed through him like boiling water, instantly making his feigned dizziness real. The world before his eyes blurred.

It was scorching, yet he couldn’t bear to pull away.

Below his waist, something uncontrollable seemed to awaken, baring its fangs and claws to announce its presence.

Once he realized what it was, he shot upright, red-faced, and nearly fled in a panic.

Shi Lan reacted quickly and grabbed him. "Hey, be careful! You just hit your head, don’t make such sudden movements. If it gets worse, it’ll be a real problem."

Mu Tangfeng didn’t dare look at her. He just sat there awkwardly with his legs bent, images from that educational video flashing through his mind, with him in the starring role.

His body felt like it was about to explode from the pressure, yet Shi Lan’s small, soft, warm hand was still holding his tense arm, completely unaware.

"Mu Tangfeng, why is your face so red?"

Just then, Shi Lan noticed his strange expression. She reached out to touch his forehead, but the heat was so intense that she instantly snatched her hand back.

Mu Tangfeng finally couldn’t take it anymore. He grabbed her retreating arm, twisted his body, and in a sudden shift, pinned her beneath him. Kneeling on the bed, he trapped her against the mattress, his enchanting, crimson-flushed eyes locking onto hers. His voice was hoarse. "Lanlan, I really... feel so awful..."

He panted heavily as he spoke the short sentence.
