Chapter 233: He Is Very Boring
After he finished washing up, He Hanshi quietly opened the door to the master bedroom and peeked inside. Shi Lan was already asleep, her delicate little face endearingly flushed.
He couldn’t resist stepping inside. He gazed at her for a long while before gently kissing her forehead, leaving only when he was fully content.
「The next day.」
Shi Lan woke up at her usual time, as if on a biological clock. After washing up and changing, she headed downstairs and was greeted by a fragrant aroma wafting from the kitchen.
Her nose twitched as she walked toward the kitchen, where she immediately spotted He Hanshi, tied in an apron and busy making breakfast.
"It smells so good."
Hearing her voice, He Hanshi turned his head to look at her. The ice in his blue eyes instantly melted, overflowing with tenderness.
"Good morning, Lanlan."
"Good morning."
Shi Lan’s lips curved into a smile as she walked over. "Are you making fried noodles?"
"Mhm."
"There’s milk warming in the heater. Go ahead and drink some; I’ll be done in a minute," he instructed, not letting his busy hands stop him.
Shi Lan murmured an "oh." Her round, almond-shaped eyes shifted, landing on his narrow waist, cinched by the apron. He was only wearing a sleeveless white tank top, and as he brandished the spatula, the muscles across his torso flexed in unison, making his shoulders seem broader and his waist even more slender.
’That’s a textbook V-taper right there.’
Having been single her whole life, Shi Lan had never witnessed such a scene, let alone when the man in question was her own boyfriend.
Instead of getting the milk, she couldn’t resist wrapping her arms around his waist from behind. Her palm patted his abs mischievously. "He Hanshi, you’re so domestic."
"I’m so lucky to have a Beast Husband like you."
Beneath his slightly wavy, silver-white hair, He Hanshi’s pale ears flushed pink. He pressed his lips together, feeling the electric touch on his waist and the softness pressed against his back. He cleared his throat. "Lanlan, be good. You can touch me later. I’m still making breakfast, so it’s not a good time."
It wasn’t as if Shi Lan was some kind of lecher. Hearing him say that, she belatedly realized she had been a little too forward.
’Then again, it was his fault for tempting me with this whole apron getup.’
Her face flushed slightly as she pulled her hands back, grabbed the milk, and walked away.
The milk was the perfect temperature, warm but not scalding.
He Hanshi watched her leave, her back looking just a little bit huffy. A low chuckle rumbled in his throat. He let out a deep breath, glanced down at the now-wrinkled apron over his stomach, and gave it a tug before getting back to work.
In another pan, Gugu cutlets were already fried and waiting.
He plated the fried noodles, sliced the cutlets to arrange on the side, and then carried both breakfasts to the dining table.
"Lanlan, time for breakfast."
Shi Lan, who had been drinking her milk by the doorway and enjoying the breeze, obediently called back and came inside.
A wide smile spread across her face when she saw the breakfast, a feast for the eyes and nose. "This is so lavish! It looks delicious."
"He Hanshi, you’re amazing."
Shi Lan gave him a big thumbs-up, and the combination of the gesture and her sparkling eyes left He Hanshi feeling both delighted and restless, itching to do *something*.
His gaze fell to the trace of milk lingering on her lips. He lowered his eyes and pulled out a chair for her. "Sit here, Lanlan."
"Okay."
Shi Lan walked over trustingly, but before she even reached the chair, He Hanshi swept in and kissed her with lightning speed. Her back was pressed against the chair, but his large hand cushioned her head, so it wasn’t uncomfortable. She was simply and utterly enveloped in his potent, masculine presence.
A scent like cool pine hung in the air. He kissed her until her head spun, and the empty milk cup she was holding slipped from her fingers.
He Hanshi’s large hand shot out to catch it, placing it casually on the table.
’Kissing is a truly addictive thing.’
Whenever He Hanshi had a free moment on the Border Defense Star, his mind would drift back to their time together on Yaoxing. He had missed her for far too long. Now that he was with her, he felt like a starving lion that had finally caught its fragrant prey. He wanted to savor her like a precious treasure, torn between impatience and restraint, afraid that if he devoured his meal in one go, it would be gone forever.
But with breakfast in mind, he worried it would get cold, so he didn’t let the kiss linger for too long.
He held the weak-kneed female in his arms and gently settled her into the chair.
Shi Lan still hadn’t quite come back to her senses. Her lips were rosy and swollen, glistening moistly.
He Hanshi wasn’t in much better shape himself.
He pressed his lips together, pulled out a napkin, and gently dabbed her mouth.
Her lips were probably a little sore from the kiss, earning him a look of mild, displeased annoyance.
He Hanshi’s touch grew even gentler. He pushed her breakfast plate closer. "Eat up. It really will get cold if you don’t."
"Hmph. And whose fault is that..."
Shi Lan shot him a pouting glare. He Hanshi was quick to concede. "My fault. I’ll be more careful next time."
He watched her with such earnest focus that Shi Lan didn’t dare meet his gaze. She tried to maintain her pout, but after a single bite of the fried noodles, all her pique vanished.
"Mmmph, this is so good!"
Her eyes, still misty from before, widened slightly. She mumbled praises through a full mouth.
Afraid she might choke, He Hanshi placed a glass of warm water beside her. "Eat slowly. If this isn’t enough, I can make you more."
Shi Lan nodded. ’Good food really does have the power to instantly improve one’s mood.’
In truth, He Hanshi had a perfect grasp of her appetite. The portion of fried noodles was just right, and she’d cleaned her plate of the entire sliced Gugu cutlet.
After finishing, she let out a contented burp.
He Hanshi didn’t dare to laugh, but she was the one to shoot him a wary look first.
He played dumb. "Hm? What is it?"
"N-nothing."
Shi Lan quickly shook her head.
Once they had both finished eating, He Hanshi finally activated the house robot.
He had put it on standby to keep it from interfering with his work in the kitchen.
After the meal, He Hanshi was at a bit of a loss.
His life until now had truly been like that of a stuffy, boring old man. Aside from his duties on the Border Defense Star, fighting the Insect Clan, and studying, there seemed to be nothing else.
As for what females liked, all his knowledge came from books; he had very little practical experience.
He thought for a moment. "Those guns I had Fourth Brother send over... Lanlan, do you still have them?"
’Fourth Brother?’
Shi Lan glanced at him. He said the name more naturally than she ever did.
Suppressing her amusement, she retrieved the two electronic handguns from her Space Chain.
He Hanshi’s gaze lingered on her Space Chain and the matching bracelet. He had noticed them yesterday, of course, but his mind had been so focused on her that he hadn’t spared them a second thought.
Now, he asked, "The bracelet and the Space Chain... did *they* give them to you?"
Shi Lan nodded. It seemed everyone *but* the ones who gave them to her had asked that question. And each time, she couldn’t shake the guilty feeling, as if she were cheating.
It couldn’t be helped. She came from a world built on the concept of monogamy. Even though she was slowly coming to accept the rules of this new world, her way of thinking couldn’t always keep up.
"Mhm."
He Hanshi didn’t press further. He was just thinking that if they had all given her such precious gifts, then he ought to give her something nice as well.
’Compared to guns, females probably prefer accessories like these.’
