Chapter 231: Experiencing His Bed
"Wife, I was wrong."
He immediately admitted his mistake. Mrs. Mu sighed in resignation. "Alright, I don’t care what you do in private, but Lanlan is still here. You need to maintain the dignity of an elder. Otherwise, people will think I don’t run a tight ship."
Mr. Mu nodded sincerely. Seeing this, Mrs. Mu didn’t press the matter further.
Meanwhile, Mu Tangfeng had already taken Shi Lan to his bedroom.
Although Mrs. Mu had told him to take Shi Lan out, he wanted her to get familiar with his territory first.
The moment Shi Lan stepped inside, she saw the large vase Mu Tangfeng had previously brought to Black Star. The vintage blue vase sat on an exquisitely carved wooden cabinet at the foot of the bed. The vase was so large that it immediately drew the eye, seeming to take up half the room’s vertical space.
Last time, they had been in such a hurry to escape Black Star that there was no room for it in the Treatment Pod, so Mu Tangfeng had to leave it behind. After returning home, he couldn’t sleep well at night. He suspected it was because the vase was missing, so he had someone go back and retrieve it for him.
He deliberately placed it against the wall at the foot of his bed so he could see it the moment he opened his eyes. Sure enough, his sleep improved, and he no longer had to sleep on the floor.
Now, seeing Shi Lan staring blankly at the vase, he recalled what his mom had said not long ago. Mu Tangfeng’s ears grew hot, and he scuffed his foot against the expensive carpet on the floor. "Ahem, Lanlan, let me show you the rest of the room."
With that, he gave her a full tour of his room. It was huge. One area was like a dance studio, with mirrors covering the walls and even the ceiling—this was the room where he usually went to admire his reflection.
There was also a walk-in closet filled with clothes that still had their tags on, spanning every color of the rainbow—red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, violet—a truly dazzling collection.
Another transparent display case was dedicated to his shed feathers. It was filled with feathers of all sizes, all neatly preened and cared for so well they looked as sleek and glossy as if they were still on his body.
Feathers seemed to be his favorite accessory. He didn’t have many other adornments, though he did have a large collection of bow ties and neckties for his suits, displayed right next to the feather cabinet. As for his only piece of jewelry, it was probably the custom-made gold bird charm on a red-string anklet. He had pestered her into buying it for him after Jiang Xia had deliberately shown off, making him feel jealous.
Shi Lan subconsciously glanced down at his ankle, hidden by the cuff of his pants. She couldn’t see anything, so she continued her tour of his bedroom.
Mu Tangfeng really did love collecting vases. His bedroom had a collection room filled with all sorts of them—tall, short, round, and stout. Perhaps their only common feature was their intricate patterns. The style was reminiscent of the brilliant glazes of Tang sancai pottery, yet they weren’t gaudy; each one looked precious and beautiful.
Shi Lan was a little surprised. "You gave me so many vases last time, and you still have more at home?"
The blush on Mu Tangfeng’s ears deepened. The reason he had so many vases was that they made for good hiding spots when he played hide-and-seek as a child. That way, his family would never know which vase he was hiding in.
He was afraid that if Shi Lan kept asking, she’d think he was too childish, so he just gave a vague nod.
After touring his entire master suite, he couldn’t resist showing Shi Lan his bed.
Like a child sharing his favorite new toy, he told her, "Lanlan, quick, try it! This bed is super comfortable. It automatically adjusts to fit the curves of your body."
If the bed could talk, it would probably complain about who was cursing it out last time...
Shi Lan looked at his three-meter-wide bed and lay down curiously to try it. Mu Tangfeng clingily lay down beside her, though he remained relatively reserved, not getting too close. A gap of half an arm’s length remained between them.
He propped up his cheek with his hand, watching her from the side. No matter how much he tried to restrain himself, the love in his eyes was impossible to hide.
"Wow, it really is comfortable."
Shi Lan sighed in amazement as she felt the movement from the bed beneath her.
Not only that, but when she moved, the bed would follow her movements, shifting to the appropriate height.
’So advanced.’
"If you like it, Lanlan, I can move it to Interstellar Mansion for you later."
"No, no, the bed at Interstellar Mansion is plenty comfortable. Besides, I’m planning to move into He Hanshi’s place tomorrow."
"Is that so?"
Mu Tangfeng pressed his lips together, a little displeased. However, Shi Lan had mentioned moving to him before.
He thought about the Interstellar Mansion’s rule that unmarried males could only enter once a day and found himself agreeing with her choice.
Shi Lan tilted her head, watching the unhappiness in his eyes and the slight, unconscious pout of his lips. The full philtrum pearl on his upper lip seemed to flush with color, growing even redder.
’Kissing someone you like must be truly addictive,’ Shi Lan thought as she suddenly rolled over, pressing her body on top of Mu Tangfeng’s.
His hand, which had been propping up his cheek, fell away. He stared up with wide, dark, clear eyes, his blank expression giving him an air of worldly innocence.
"Lanlan, what’s wrong?"
As he spoke, he seemed to register the change in their position. His eyes darted around nervously. He wanted to move his legs but was afraid of making Shi Lan uncomfortable, so he could only lie there, stiff as a board.
Shi Lan cupped his face with both hands and, without another word, kissed him directly.
She adored the philtrum pearl on Mu Tangfeng’s lip. Sometimes she would even gently graze her teeth over it, leaving her mark.
Caught off guard by the surprise attack, Mu Tangfeng’s hands instinctively went to Shi Lan’s waist, tightening their grip.
Feeling the heat on his lips and seeing that Shi Lan was only kissing his philtrum pearl, he let out a dissatisfied grunt and opened his mouth slightly.
Shi Lan obliged him.
As they continued to kiss on the bed, Shi Lan clearly felt the Little Joyful Bird take flight.
Her kissing paused for a moment, and she immediately rolled off him onto the bed beside him.
"Lanlan..."
Mu Tangfeng was even more lost in the moment than she was, his mouth subconsciously searching for hers. He was usually very reserved about kissing, always needing Shi Lan to take the initiative. Only when lost in the throes of passion would he become so clingy and proactive.
Shi Lan placed a hand over his mouth and cleared her throat awkwardly. "Ahem, you need to calm down."
Mu Tangfeng’s slightly unfocused, dark pupils were fixed on her, a look of reluctance and confusion in his eyes.
"Calm down about what?"
Shi Lan’s gaze shifted downward, pointedly looking at a certain spot. Perhaps sensing her stare, the Little Joyful Bird grew even more excited.
Mu Tangfeng’s mind cleared a little. He quickly threw himself face-down on the bed, the exposed nape of his neck flushing a deep red. The rising heat felt like it could set his very hair on fire.
’So embarrassing!’
Shi Lan silently went out onto the balcony for some fresh air. From the bed, Mu Tangfeng tilted his head to glance at her, and the burning heat in his lower abdomen, which had just begun to subside, threatened to flare up again.
He clutched the blanket, covering his face, not daring to look again.
About ten or so minutes later, he went and splashed his face with cold water. He finally seemed much calmer.
"Lanlan, I’m okay now."
His voice was a little hoarse, as if a certain afterglow had yet to fade.
His damp face reflected the sunlight. Tiny water droplets clung to the fine, white down on his translucent cheeks. Looking down, his philtrum pearl and lips were bright red, as if they’d been thoroughly bullied. He looked just like a newly transformed, pure, and innocent spirit who nonetheless possessed an innate allure.
Shi Lan turned her face back toward the window. The cool breeze finally blew away her messy, distracting thoughts.
