Chapter 570: Brawl in the Starving Corpse Building, Sequence C-40 "Vajra Strongman"
Tonight.
No one in Mad King Building was sleeping peacefully.
The lower floors were already submerged, and the upper floors were being flooded.
Originally Wang Yazhi and the others were too uneasy to sleep, but as soon as they lay down, they fell asleep.
The Nightmare Bed was simply too comfortable, and no one could refuse to sleep on it.
Xu Lang had the Nightmare Bed comfort bonus, plus the boost from tenants, so his Comfort Level was only getting higher.
Speaking of which, he was indirectly raising his tenants’ comfort as well, wasn’t he?
A whole night of good sleep.
The main hand on the Moon Phase dial of the Golden Time Rewind Clock moved forward another notch.
June 27, the seventh day of the Scarlet End.
The blood rain was still falling. By six in the morning, Mad King Building was submerged.
The flooding of this tallest structure announced that the great deluge period had truly arrived. Every player could only remain inside their dorms, like Atlantis sinking beneath the sea.
Strangely, the bloodwater did not spread onto the dorm balconies.
Like when monsters attack a building, these places seemed unprotected but actually had rule-walls that could not be crossed.
Xu Lang stood below the balcony now, watching the surging bloodwater outside, feeling a bit unreal.
"It’s really flooded~" Xu Lang sighed in a strangely meaningful way.
When someone is deep underwater, fear intensifies.
In this Blood River, that fear only grew stronger.
If Mad King Building’s defenses disappeared, would the building collapse outright? Then every player would lose this last refuge and have to survive in the Blood Mist World.
However, people must use logic, use reason. Essentially ordered creatures, surviving in the chaotic Blood Mist World would not be easy.
Players could grow so quickly largely thanks to the Dorm Survival Game’s player systems. If they were stripped naked and forced to compete with Blood Mist creatures purely on raw survival, they’d be vaporized in an instant.
"Xu Lang, do you have a high-altitude view? Wouldn’t it look spectacular from up above?" Han Zhixiu walked over, her long shapely legs swinging.
She wore light blue yoga pants at home, simple and ordinary in design, but on her legs they were eye-catching.
"It is pretty spectacular," Xu Lang smiled. "Last night Kui Zi released some surveillance drones in the sky. You can check them out."
"Just looking at scenery? What’s fun about that." Han Zhixiu’s words had another implication.
Could there be something more entertaining?
Before Xu Lang could ask, Han Zhixiu lifted one leg, bent her knee ninety degrees, and planted her foot on his chest.
So tempting — even a battle-hardened guy like Xu Lang felt his heart quicken a bit.
Han Zhixiu usually didn’t talk much. Unlike Xu Ruyan’s cautious persistence, she carried a kind of coldness mixed with a fighter’s aggression, ready to brawl with anyone. She never skipped training.
Yet beneath that frosty exterior were streaks of flirtation and admiration for strength.
Once someone bested her in a fight, she obeyed them more than anyone else.
She had never refused any of Xu Lang’s requests, and while she doubled down on pleasing him, she also enjoyed it.
"Motherf—!"
Xu Lang couldn’t stand being stared at by Han Zhixiu any longer and was about to do something when Zhen Lu arrived.
"What are you two doing? Huh, Zhixiu, weren’t you going to the Training Room?" Zhen Lu exclaimed in surprise.
Han Zhixiu quickly put her leg down; that cold, provocative look vanished, replaced by awkwardness. "I’m going right now!"
Clack.
Xu Lang grabbed Han Zhixiu’s wrist with a reverse motion, his eyes narrowing. "You’re Ruyan, right?"
"Uh, someone’s here, I don’t want to do this!" Han Zhixiu protested, pitifully.
Xu Lang didn’t care about scenes or appearances. He grabbed Xu Ruyan and dragged her over to Han Zhixiu, double the fun.
Zhen Lu felt she had caused trouble.
At the same time, she felt secretly delighted.
Xu Ruyan’s A Thousand Faces skill was becoming ever more masterful; sometimes she even looked like Zhen Lu herself.
Inside the Demon King Castle, people could barely tell whether the person in front of them was Xu Ruyan or someone else.
Even with two people standing together, nobody could distinguish who was who.
Fortunately, Xu Ruyan had said that once her Sequence developed further, she wouldn’t play these tricks anymore.
When the Killer Sequence advanced into later stages, even if she mimicked a stranger, it would be flawless.
Sequences were widely recognized as an overpowered force among players.
If the dormitory system deliberately set a deathtrap for you, the reason you survived to the end would surely be due to Sequence power.
…
While Xu Lang was teaching Xu Ruyan and Han Zhixiu combat techniques, a battle was erupting at the Starving Corpse Building.
A fight of life and death.
Bloodwater had flooded nearly half of the Starving Corpse Building’s structure.
On the highest point, the twentieth floor, a group of people were locked in chaotic combat.
After Rainy Night Blade obtained the protection of the Gluttony Demon, he launched actions at once.
Because of him stirring tensions during this flooding, the big brawl finally broke out. No one stayed hidden in dorms anymore; they went out to fight!
The top three floors became the main points of contention.
Only a few recognized strongest forces were qualified to contest the twentieth floor.
Starving Corpse Building players had reasons to fear the blood rain. Their facilities were unimpressive, but their physical strength was extraordinarily extreme; when players collided, shockwaves of sound rolled out like thunder.
The guardrail above was temporarily sealed with an ice wall.
Without the blood rain as a limiting hazard, Starving Corpse Building players rampaged, using the cruelest and most vicious methods to attack one another!
Rainy Night Blade had four trusted tenant followers and had recruited players with traded food, yet still could not seize first place.
In fact, he was being suppressed by the Starving Corpse Building’s strongest fighter!
This man was named Huang Shan. He commanded all residents of the twentieth floor.
Huang Shan stood three meters tall, as massive as a mountain, belly fat like swine or ox; he wore only a white loincloth. Black patterns decorated his skin, like a neon sumo strongman.
In truth, his core power system had nothing to do with neon culture; how he came to look like that no one knew.
[Sequence C-40 "Vajra Strongman"]
This Sequence was acquired by Huang Shan three rounds ago in the Starving Corpse Building. He then rapidly developed over two more rounds and shot up to become the strongest in the building.
"Arhat Palm!"
Huang Shan’s bulk sank slightly. His two fat hands struck air, leaving afterimages and swatting away attacks from all sides.
Rainy Night Blade seized the opportunity, flash-stepped forward, the blade’s edge stabbing straight into Huang Shan’s lower back.
"Hmm?!"
Huang Shan turned his head; the black patterns spread across his face like a mask.
His fleshy palm twisted at his waist, moving faster than Rainy Night Blade by several measures. He acted after the strike but arrived first, pressing down on Rainy Night Blade’s chest.
Boom!
Rainy Night Blade was blasted backward, flying with flesh torn in the air, bones shattered and flung in every direction.
The next second.
Flesh and blood retracted; the blown-apart scene looked like an illusion. Rainy Night Blade landed intact on the ground.
"Undying body, interesting. If I eat you, my recovery should increase a lot!" Huang Shan surged forward with overwhelming momentum, surrounded by a wave of high-temperature air, and pressed another palm onto Rainy Night Blade.
Midway through, that palm changed into a grab.
Rainy Night Blade was lifted!
Under everyone’s eyes, Rainy Night Blade’s body rapidly withered; his Vitality seemed to be drained away!
