Chapter 918 - 448: The Essence of the Curse
"Wasn’t it the Demons’ doing?"
Li Ang opened his mouth, recalling earlier information.
Indeed, although various hidden factions knew that Demons posed a threat to the world, there had been no mention of "Demons causing the world’s tearing," it was just naturally assumed so before.
Another important piece of information that influenced his thought was that both Da and Xiao Mei mentioned that the shadow of Demons existed in Nebis’ final destruction.
"Many things happened during the Ancient Era as well," Inanna said softly, with a slight frown.
"So, the Primordial Beings that became Demons and the ones that destroyed the world aren’t the same?"
"They once traveled together, eventually choosing their own paths. There may be conflicts or brief cooperation, but they all became enemies of the world."
Li Ang nodded, it seemed that there were complex relationships between the "Eldest Son of God," and the common point was that none of them were benevolent.
"Due to their grave mistakes, even if they didn’t perish in the catastrophe, they were judged by the angry Father God and all traces of their existence were erased."
"But because the Demons were exiled from the world, they weren’t completely destroyed?" Li Ang asked.
"Yes," the Earth Dragon replied.
"Apart from the self-proclaimed Divine People’s descendants who inherited some of their powers, the Primordial Beings left almost nothing to the world... No, I was wrong, sorry, there are actually many, like the Bloody Red Land."
Li Ang realized that Inanna originally meant to say the Primordial Beings left no trace in the world. Her intention was to express that today’s Nebis shows no sign of ever hosting such a group of "Divine Spirits," except for those who know ancient secrets, no one could find traces left by the Primordial Beings.
However, all of Nebis’ residents lived upon the Sky Islands, and just by glancing beyond the island’s edge, one could see the endless bloody redness.
The Ancient Divine Spirits ultimately met such an end, and those left behind became the misshaped enemies of the world.
The first beings to be born on the earth, yet they created a scar that couldn’t heal, leaving a ravaged world for those who came after.
The two stood silently, with Diao beside them, lowering his deer head and making no movement.
For a while, only the faint murmurs of All Spirits surrounded them.
After some time, the whispers of the Spirits gradually grew clearer, almost as if they were singing, and the surrounding phosphorescent light became brighter.
"The Ten Thousand Spirits are singing..."
Diao raised his head, reverting to human form, channeling Magic Power to listen to the voice of All Spirits.
The murmurs gathered into a torrent, creating new scenery ahead.
"Another Illusion Realm?"
The phosphorescent meadow transformed into a vast, sandy terrain, somewhat reminiscent of the Wilderness Area of the Monster Breeding Ground, yet imparting a more rugged and primitive feel. Huge rocks stood around, and the ground was covered with coarse, large stones, everything seemed to have fallen from larger rocks, not yet worn into dust by time.
Li Ang watched as Inanna’s expression gradually relaxed, then filled with surprise and complexity, confirming that this new scenery was also related to her.
"This place is, this can’t possibly..."
The incarnation of the Earth Dragon God seemed compelled to lift her foot, pressing the golden-covered sole onto the sandy land.
Instantly, both Li Ang and Diao sensed a certain change.
This wasn’t the reaction of the Ten Thousand Spirits, rather, it was the land within this Illusion Realm releasing a form of response directed specifically at Inanna, this wave felt like Spirit, yet it was also akin to Magic Power and Elements.
From Li Ang’s perspective, given his past experience with the Monster Breeding Ground, it felt like the pulse of the Earth System.
To put it more abstractly, it was as if the Earth itself was welcoming Inanna.
"Is this also an imprint from the memory of All Spirits?" Li Ang said.
"Could be, it feels somewhat like the former Ancient World."
The two stepped onto this land, and Inanna turned back to them, saying, "This is my home."
"Home?"
"Yes, the very first home. After the world shattered, it was leveled by the subsequent waves, and now it’s shrouded in bloody mist."
Li Ang connected this to what she previously said, knowing Inanna had traits of a Dragon, and she was more accustomed to calling her dwelling a lair, although she also used the word home, possibly to better communicate with mortals.
Thus, considering it’s also an Illusion Realm from the Ancient Era, this must have been the original lair of the Earth Dragon.
Even after tens of thousands of years, she still remembers.
In that respect, she was like humans. Throughout life, residences may change, yet deep down, there is always a place regarded as home.
Diao surveyed the surroundings: "The Ten Thousand Spirits brought us here, I wonder if they want... uh..."
Inanna stepped forward and took Li Ang’s hand, smiling as she pulled him along, cutting off the dark-skinned young girl’s words.
"Come with me, I’ll introduce you to my home."
Once leaving the previous setting, Inanna’s appearance became smaller, and her demeanor grew more innocent, more so even than during the Fertile Stage. It was as if she forgot about the Ten Thousand Spirits, Demons, and Illusion Realms, simply eager to show Li Ang her former place of residence.
All that can be said is that Inanna indeed possesses the essence of a Dragon; her human form is just an illusory shape, and as she ran, she moved smoothly across the rough stone-covered ground, while Li Ang found it much more challenging, as the stones dug into his soles, making it hard to keep balance, even with his Low Tier Warrior Level, this wasn’t terrain suited for human traversal.
