Chapter 3001 - The Survivors of Sword Sovereign City

Yun Wuxiang’s words came across as an ultimatum.

All eyes were instantly on Su Yi. Yu Xiu and the others looked at him with pity.

The forces of the Far Shore hadn’t been wrong to rally so many experts. They were on guard against Su Yi’s hidden cards!

The Heavenly Sovereigns’ gazes were pitying, their hearts full of ruefulness. Su Yi is just one person, yet now, a whole group of experts of the Far Shore has come all this way on his account!

Dying under such circumstances was enough to grant one a spot in the annals of history and dazzle the entire world.

Thus, the Heavenly Sovereigns dared not look down on Su Yi. They didn’t think they had any right to do so.

But at the same time, they were certain that Su Yi was finished. There was absolutely no way he’d survive this.

Legends of his accomplishments might well circulate throughout the Eternal Heavens Domain for decades to come, but Su Yi himself would be no more.

The atmosphere was stifled and oppressive to the extreme.

As powerful as Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan was, his heart was on tenterhooks, and he was already planning for the worst. All he could do was risk it all, heedless of his life and death.

It would be enough so long as he dragged one of his enemies to the grave with him!

Su Yi stood there, his gaze calm and clear, with no sign of joy or sorrow. “In that case...”

Boom!

Before he could finish his sentence, Li Shouhu shifted through the air, swung his black spear, and thrust it at Su Yi. He obviously wanted to finish Su Yi off immediately, before he got the chance to reveal his hidden cards.

Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan immediately intervened, only for Li Shouhu’s attack to force him back. He’d had no impact at all.

In truth, Li Shouhu had been preparing for this strike for a long time. All was quiet until he launched his strike, but by then, he’d already reached peak strength.

This is bad! Wang Zhiwu’s expression shifted, while Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s heart sank.

Li Shouhu is attacking from such close quarters that even if Su Yi used one of his hidden cards, it seems... This thought had only just occurred to him when something unbelievable happened.

A streak of sword qi exploded into being with intense, stinging sword light, then cleaved into Li Shouhu’s spear.

Clang!!!

The air shook violently, then exploded.

A current of destructive power surged forth, forcing Li Shouhu back. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.

It was only after a stunned pause that everyone saw what had happened clearly. Right at a critical juncture, someone appeared in front of Su Yi.

He was a disheveled, dark-skinned man in long, worn-out robes. He carried a sword, but he otherwise looked like an ordinary old farmer from the countryside.

Yet when he stood there, he was like an insurmountable natural barrier. He seemed utterly unshakeable.

The Heavenly Sovereigns were astonished. Who’s that? And where did he come from?

The experts of the Far Shore of Destiny had sealed everything off on all sides. Appearing here out of nowhere should have been all but impossible.

That is... unless this new arrival was at least as strong as them!

Waves of emotion rocked Heavenly Sovereign Ku Xuan’s heart. What terrifying strength!

Wang Zhiwu inwardly sighed in relief. Only then did he notice that the back of his clothes was drenched in cold sweat.

For a moment there, he’d really thought that Su Yi was doomed!

Mu Yu’s eyes flashed as he recognized this new arrival.

Meanwhile, the disheveled man drew his shoulders together, lowered his head, and bowed to Su Yi. “Li Sansheng, an unfilial disciple of Sword Sovereign City, pays his respects to the Big Boss!”

His voice boomed throughout heaven and earth. His excitement was readily apparent.

Su Yi blinked in surprise, then silently put away the bodhi leaf he’d taken in hand. He murmured, “Someone from Sword Sovereign City really did show up...”

Li Sansheng said with shame, “This disciple is incompetent and arrived late. I’ll be sure to accept my punishment once we’ve settled things here!”

The crowd stirred. Even the Heavenly Sovereigns watched in astonishment. Li Sansheng is a terrifying existence from Sword Sovereign City. Why is he behaving so humbly?

Wang Zhiwu transmitted, “The Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City... Hey, you old charlatan. Just who is Su Yi, anyway?”

Mu Yu’s gaze was conflicted as he transmitted back, “It’s a long story. You just need to remember this: the Big Boss of Sword Sovereign City was a supreme ruler on the Far Shore of Destiny, but he’s been dead for countless years.”

A supreme ruler? Dead for countless years? Wang Zhiwu understood in a flash. He must be one of Su Yi’s past lives!

“Li Sansheng? Hah! I thought you’d show up.” Yun Wuxiang chuckled. “You ruined my plans outside the Literati Continent. Did you really think I wouldn’t anticipate your arrival this time?”

Mo Zhong of the Academy, Chang Ning of the Sect of the Origin, and Zhen Jia of Three Purities Temple all watched coldly. This development was well within their expectations; it didn’t even count as a variable.

“The ignorant are within sin,” said Su Yi, shaking his head. “I’m surprised and impressed that you made it at all.”

This was his first meeting with Li Sansheng, but after hearing Yun Wuxiang’s comments, Su Yi realized that this had to be the person who’d saved Lu Hongpao back in the Literati Continent.

He’d injured Li Shouhu in a single attack, making it immediately obvious how extraordinary this “unfilial disciple” of Sword Sovereign City was.

“Li Sansheng alone isn’t enough to change anything,” said Yun Wuxiang, his gaze playful. “I refuse to believe that he’s the only survivor of Sword Sovereign City. Is there anyone else? If so, come on out and show yourselves. Let’s see just how many of you remain in this world!”

Li Sangsheng held his sword in front of him, his eyes flashing like cold lightning. “Then open your eyes and have a good look!”

He took a deep breath, then thrust his sword into the dome of heaven.

Boom!!!

Time and space were thrown into disarray as a massive spacetime rift tore open.

Yun Wuxiang’s gaze focused, but before he could give orders, someone else stepped in. “Go!”

Mo Zhong of the Academy threw a bamboo tube, bringing with it a long streak of misty green light that enveloped the shattered firmament completely.

At the same time, the young Daoist of Three Purities Temple, Zhen Jia, whooshed forth and summoned a cauldron. It descended upon the spacetime rift.

When Mo Zhong and Zhen Jia revealed their terrifying strength, the Heavenly Sovereigns’ eyelids twitched.

With their Eternal Thrones, they were like rulers of Heaven’s Will here in the River of Destiny, but in their eyes, Mo Zhong and Zhen Jia’s powers seemed strong enough to threaten the Will of the Heavens itself!

This was incomparably terrifying.

“Scram!” A deep voice emanated from within the spacetime rift.

The first thing to emerge from the rift was a fist shrouded in stinging golden light. It descended from the rift like the hand of a deity, and the cauldron flew backward with a heaven-shaking wail.

Zhen Jia staggered on his feet, his expression shifting dramatically.

Then, the light of the bamboo tube shattered and split. Mo Zhong let out a muffled grunt, a grim look on his face.

It was then that everyone watched in horror as hands planted themselves on each side of the rift, then pushed outward.

Boom!

Time and space tore at the edges of the rift as those powerful hands pulled it open, creating a massive chasm.

Turbulent spacetime swept outward, making the entire stretch of heaven and earth quiver as if about to contort and collapse.

Yun Wuxiang snorted coldly, then pressed down. Heaven and earth instantly returned to stillness.

However, he couldn’t stop the appearance of that spacetime rift.

A tall middle-aged man in black robes shot through the chasm, then descended beside Su Yi, smiled, and clasped his fist in greeting. “Gongye Futu of Sword Sovereign City greets you, Your Excellency Su!”

Every word went off like a thunderclap. All of the Heavenly Sovereigns looked stricken, as the ferocious aura emanating from Gongye Futu was even fiercer than Li Sansheng’s!

“Hah. Another masterless dog,” Yun Wuxiang said with a cold laugh. “I knew this would happen!”

After the battle in the God Domain, he led Hei Ya, Li Shouhu and several others to intercept Gongye Futu and the River Lord, only for something to go wrong just as they were on the verge of success.

There was no way that Yun Wuxiang would forget something like that, so he wasn’t the least bit surprised to see Gongye Futu and the others.

“The more of you, the better. Ideally, every last survivor of Sword Sovereign City would show up. That way, I can get rid of you all at once!” Yun Wuxiang said coldly.

His calm composure reassured the Heavenly Sovereigns, Yu Xiu, and the other Heavenly Monarchs.

Suddenly, another figure emerged from the spacetime portal. He was a gaunt, decrepit old man. “You’ve already died once. Where do you get the confidence to bark like a mad dog even now?”

This was none other than the River Lord!

He walked up to Su Yi and bowed. “Zhou Sanjia of Sword Sovereign City greets you, Your Excellency Su!”

His aged face was full of ruefulness and gratification as he thought back to their last meeting on the River of Epochs, when Su Yi had only just recently stepped into divinity.

Now they’d been reunited, but Su Yi was nothing like he’d been before. Thus, even the way he addressed Su Yi had shifted.

“Long time no see,” said Su Yi. He, too, was touched. He hadn’t anticipated that he’d see Gongye Futu and the River Lord again now of all times.

The Heavenly Sovereigns’ expressions filled with astonishment. These were once Su Yi’s subordinates!?

“Yet another old dog.” Yun Wuxiang shook his head slightly. “That isn’t the least bit interesting!”

He and the other experts of the Far Shore of Destiny remained calm. Li Sansheng, Gongye Futu, and Zhou Sanjia had indeed all once been prominent experts of the All-Profound Dominion, but... Sword Sovereign City had been destroyed countless years ago. Years of wind and rain had long since washed away its experts’ glories!

“Is there anyone else?” said Yun Wuxiang, his gaze provocative. “Don’t tell me that the once proud Sword Sovereign has no one left but a few masterless dogs?”

Boom!

A swish of divine radiance appeared suddenly in the spacetime portal. Immediately afterward, a string of still-bleeding heads was tossed through the doorway.

There were about ten of them in total, a mix of men and women. All of their eyes were wide with shock and fury. They looked utterly wretched in death.

Yun Wuxiang, Zhen Jia, and Li Shouhu of Three Purities Temple all glowered in response, their eyes glinting with anger.

“Those are Qing Shi and the other members of the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple!” someone exclaimed.

The Heavenly Sovereigns’ hearts shook. On the River of Destiny, the Lower Court of Three Purities Temple was a highly mysterious, transcendent existence. They’d always stayed out of worldly affairs.

Few in the Eternal Heavens Domain even knew that they existed. Only the Heavenly Sovereigns knew that the Lower Court was Three Purities Temple’s outpost on the River of Destiny.

Yet now, the heads of their higher-ups had been severed. Of course, Yun Wuxiang and the others were furious!
