Chapter 94: The gathering at the Sungrade
Able was shocked right now.
He was genuinely stunned.
There were many guests coming from all across the east and the other parts of the empire and the boys were supposed to greet them all at the gates.
His elder brothers, Volcano and Blaze, were used to interacting with so many people.
He was the younger one but even he had attended many of the social gatherings and knew just how to interact with the noble families and people coming to them from faraway.
Their mothers were great at this as well. He had seen Lady Mililian and the others interacting with the large masses.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
The people who came to their land were always eager to meet with the patriarch so the conversations usually went on in different directions.
Engaging them and dealing with them was always something that came as a big task to anyone that was greeting them.
It wasn’t easy.
One needed information on ongoing trends, the things happening in different parts of the empire, and much more.
Information and practice was key to this part of the social gatherings.
The challenge that the host families faced was always heavy.
But, his two elder brothers aside, there was someone that had taken over the entire show right now.
-Swiiiiiiiiish...
"Hahahaha!"
"Haha, you don’t say~. I’ve always wondered just where that line came from."
"Don’t be like that. I know you already figured it out. You’re a smart one after all."
"Haha, you flatter me, m’Lord. I still have ways to go. I wish to learn a lot more from you."
"I like you far more than I thought, young boy! Hahahahahaha!"
His younger brother, Prism, was conversing with the Serulian patriarch right now, the master of the richest family in the continent, and he was entertaining him.
’What the hell...’
The Serulian patriarch was known as a strict, emotionless person that mostly acted on his own personal interests.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
He was a tough cookie to crack, but here he was, laughing with his younger brother, singing his sea shanties as if he was with his crew.
"Oh, looks like we have gathered a little crowd. Haha, I will leave for now. But you must find me later, alright boy?"
"Of course, m’Lord. It’d be a great honor of mine if I get the opportunity to show you around our cradles.
I’ve heard you’re quite interested in the Marble Carpes."
"What? Do you really have them? Here?"
Sam smiled at the old sailor, giving him a better answer than the patriarch would have wanted.
"Hahahah! Good good. Let’s meet again soon~."
He was happy right now, so Rainin, now cured from his curse, escorted him inside the house.
People already knew the Serulian’s young magic swordsman was staying with the Sungrades.
They did not know why that was the case, but some tied it with the Serulian’s recent acceptance of their spies in the Sungrade territory.
It was obvious for the enemy powers to have spies planted in other’s territory, but since the Sungrades were tangled in a wicked criminal’s plot, the Serulian’s apology and acceptance was more important.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
They must not be the ones behind the attack if they were willing to throw away their strategic spies.
At the very least, that’s what the people believed.
"Young master Prism, if you just-."
"Hey, get in line!"
"We were here first, my lords!"
The way he engaged one of the most important men of the empire mesmerised everyone that had gathered around the two.
They could tell there was something special about the boy.
Even before the patriarch, the way he engaged with the others reminded them of the first Sungrade lady, Lady Mililian.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
She was a master of social gatherings. In high society, people called her Lady Red.
Once someone catches her eyes, they would find a strange force pulling them towards her.
It was a strange illusion, but it was a power few come to possess in their lives.
"Oh, I must apologize, Lord Gran, Lady Trina, Master of Western trade, Lord Frances, I must apologise. I have been called inside and I must hurry.
We will get our chance to converse once the gathering begins so can you please allow me to excuse myself?"
He was so good at dealing with people that the three boys of the Sungrade all had a common thought.
’Is he secretly an old man?’
They had their doubts. There were just too many strange things about him.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiish...
It was a fictional theory famous among the children of the empire, the story about the souls of old men possessing young children.
They could be secretly onto something.
"And there he goes now."
"Learn we must from the youngest."
Blaze was a Red Knight and he was still envious of the young boy.
He had conversed with kings and emperors in his time as a kingsguard but he had never been as smooth as that young brother of his.
It wasn’t just about the skills, the way he talked, the things he talked about, even the way he controlled his words and actions, all were natural.
They were so refined that none could tell whether he was simply that good at talking or that good at fooling others.
"Focus brother focus. We still have to look after this front."
Sam had practically arranged the whole event.
-Swiiiiiiiiish.
He helped all the ladies with different aspects of the gathering and he even helped the servants.
Not only did he make good snacks for them with Alex, they played while working all this time, learning new things in the process.
The way he was leading the house and the people here was just too surprising for them as the older ones.
The two knew for a fact that when the smartest of them, Ian, arrives in a few hours, he would not believe a single thing they would tell him.
And they were going to tell him everything.
For these two older ones, Ian was the best punching bag.
Before Sam and Able, the three of them were called the true troublemakers of Sungrades.
Alex was still very pure compared to how they were in their younger days.
"Lord Blaze!"
"Oh, Lady Quifray!"
The two boys and Able were engaged with the people outside and Sam was inside now.
I didn’t really have much to see out here anymore either...
-Swiiiiiiiiiiiiish.
So I just flew inside to find that youngest boy of the Sungrades.
