Chapter 1372 - 1371: Uncle, Do You Love Me?
But how are they supposed to explain this child?
Annie Davidson zoned out for a second; no matter how she thought about it, she just couldn’t figure it out.
Seeing that look on Annie Davidson’s face, Anne Davidson’s lips curved into a smile.
"This child is Maxwell’s and mine. I brought him back this time because I want to be with Maxwell, but he’s already been bewitched by another woman."
In outsiders’ eyes, Nia Mitchell is nothing more than a mistress who can’t be shown in public.
But the few of them all know that Maxwell Peary has already registered his marriage with her.
That’s the one thing Anne Davidson really can’t get over.
She wants to sabotage things from the middle, but those two are too hard to break up; she rarely gets the chance.
She can’t even see him without being blocked—she has no idea what she’s supposed to do.
"Is this really Maxwell Peary’s child?"
Annie Davidson walked forward in some surprise and took a close look.
"Of course. His name is Oliver Peary. I was already pregnant when I left Capital Town back then, and Maxwell knew about it too."
As she spoke, Anne Davidson’s face lit up with a smile.
"Maxwell didn’t have the ability to protect me back then; he was under pressure from all sides. It was only after he found out I was pregnant that he sent me to Provence."
Only by going somewhere safe could she possibly give birth to this child.
Back then, Anne Davidson understood that very well too.
Hearing all this, Annie Davidson instinctively didn’t believe it, but unfortunately she had no evidence.
Looks like she’d have to go back and really investigate this.
"I don’t care what your relationship with Maxwell Peary is. If you want to go after Owen Lewis, then go, but don’t drag me into it. We’re already divorced."
With that, Annie Davidson turned to leave.
The drizzle outside showed no sign of stopping; if she didn’t go back soon, it would be a test of her body too.
"Divorced or not, the feelings are still there."
Anne Davidson was unwilling to give up. With such great resources right there, why shouldn’t she use them?
This Annie Davidson was really something—of all times to get divorced, she had to do it right when Anne came back. What was that supposed to mean?
"You’re wrong. It’s precisely because the feelings are gone that people get divorced."
"Grandpa, look at her. You at least raised her all these years, and she’s still this heartless."
Watching Annie Davidson walk out, Anne Davidson anxiously turned to Grandpa Davidson.
"Annie, you stop right there!"
Annie Davidson turned to look at Grandpa Davidson, umbrella held above her head. The light was a hazy yellow, circling over her body in ring after ring.
"I’ve already left the Davidson Family. That will never change. From now on, no matter what you need from me, I won’t come back."
...
After Nia Mitchell and the CEO got home, they went upstairs right away, and then she obediently went to wash up.
By the time she finished doing the dishes, the CEO had also showered in the Guest Room and come back, half-reclining on the bed with a newspaper in his hand.
"Uncle."
As soon as Nia Mitchell climbed onto the bed, she wrapped herself around the CEO, half her body draped over Maxwell Peary.
"What’s wrong?"
Lately Rabina Mitchell had been especially clingy.
"Do you love me?"
Once, Maxwell Peary had asked this very question; back then Nia Mitchell stayed mad at him for a long time.
Now Nia Mitchell was the one asking it herself, and she was really looking forward to Maxwell Peary’s reaction.
Hearing Rabina Mitchell’s question, Maxwell Peary froze for a moment.
That single word "love" stuck in his throat. Suddenly, a man who could handle anything without a problem found he couldn’t even get that one word out.
Seeing the CEO stunned, eyebrows furrowed in confusion, the smile on Nia Mitchell’s little face slowly faded.
