Chapter 1356 - 1355: Ah Xi, This Is Someone Else’s Home
After the meal, Nia Mitchell took the key previously given by her father, and she and Fiona Sutton went to her father’s new home.
"I didn’t expect a residential area to be built here."
Fiona was quite emotional; it had only been four years since she last returned, and now the place was almost unrecognizable.
"Yes, this residential area is quite beautiful, with good greenery, and the security seems pretty decent."
It was incredibly neat and refreshing, bringing immense joy to anyone who saw it.
"Let’s go quickly; the sun is quite strong."
Even with a sun hat, Fiona felt the sunlight was quite intense and couldn’t appreciate its enthusiasm.
Nia quickly arrived at a building based on the address and took the elevator upstairs, arriving at their home.
"The decor is nice."
This is the feeling of a new home.
Once inside, Fiona looked around.
"Three bedrooms and one living room—what a shame. One bedroom has been converted into a study, leaving no room for you."
Nia hadn’t mentioned to Fiona that she wasn’t her father’s biological daughter.
So Fiona felt a bit indignant on her behalf.
"I’ve already got married; I won’t be coming back to live."
She’s married, so she doesn’t have much connection to this home anymore.
Just as Maxwell Peary had said before, he’s there for everything.
Nia felt a surge of warmth and went to the study, opened a cabinet, and found a box.
Gently opening it revealed several letters inside.
The paper had yellowed, indicating the letters were quite old.
Fiona sensed Nia’s heaviness and didn’t disturb her, instead going to the balcony to take a look.
Many varieties of succulents were planted on the balcony, looking very cute.
The letter paper had yellowed, and some words were blurry, filled with a strong sense of age, feeling weighty in her hands.
The content on the letter wasn’t much, mainly saying things like, "I’m doing well now, I miss you, how are you," and so on.
There were also words about missing the daughter, missing you, and urging her to take care of herself.
The most useful letter was the last one.
It vaguely stated that these people had already discovered your whereabouts, locked onto D City, urging quick departure from there.
Viewing the letter’s content, it’s very likely the writer was her father.
While her mother was avoiding certain people.
Maybe she initially intended to leave with her, but time ran out.
Nia could only speculate because there was no other way.
After putting away the letter paper, Nia noticed a ring inside one of the envelopes.
The ring’s design was very simple and had a sense of age; she gently took it out.
This ring likely belonged to her mother.
Thinking of this, she immediately undid the chain around her neck and hung the ring on it.
After tidying up her emotions, Nia left the study.
Fiona was now genuinely sleepy, possibly due to flying today and then walking to dinner, thus exhausted.
She actually fell asleep on the couch.
Nia smiled, picked up a blanket from the side and walked over to cover Fiona, then sat solo on the other side of the sofa, quietly pondering.
......
Upon learning about Nia’s background, Maxwell Peary immediately began investigating the matter.
Looking at the photograph, he furrowed his brow slightly.
"Investigate this matter thoroughly as soon as possible."
Annie Davidson didn’t feel well when she received another task.
