Chapter 1298 - 1312: Tender and Indulgent
Lin Junyang picked up the glass on the table and downed it in one gulp.
He recalled a gathering after Xie Yuting had broken up with him; it was probably a similar situation.
Everyone was playing a game like truth or dare, and he was punished by having to sing a love song duet with one of the girls present.
At that time, he and Xie Yuting had just broken up. Even though he knew she was already engaged to another man, he felt that she always had him in her heart, which is why he invited Xie Yuting in front of everyone.
He remembered saying the same thing back then.
"Yuting, I’m giving you a chance to sing a love song with me. You pick the song."
He no longer remembered what Xie Yuting replied to him then; he just knew that after that, he didn’t want to sing anymore, let alone sing love songs.
"Lin Junyang, I’m asking you one last time, are you going to sing or not?" Xiao Xiao insisted like a determined child, holding the microphone and asking again.
People around started to mediate, "Young Master Lin, a beauty invites you, sing one."
"Yeah, Junyang, even if I wanted this opportunity, I wouldn’t get it. Hurry up, don’t embarrass Miss Xiao."
"Junyang, if you’re a man, do it for us brothers here."
...
Lin Junyang finally straightened up, slammed the empty glass onto the table, stood up, took the microphone from Xiao Xiao, and with the other hand, wrapped an arm around her slender shoulder, leading her with a swagger towards the karaoke machine. "Go on, what do you want to sing? I’ll sing with you."
Xiao Xiao glanced at his cool, handsome face, her eyes reddened from smiling, and leaned buddy-buddy against him as she picked a love song, "Let’s sing this one."
Seeing the girl beside him with her smiling eyes still reddened, Lin Junyang felt a soft spot in his heart and couldn’t help but press her small head with his large hand, "You’re such a fool."
But accompanying her to sing a song is all it takes to bring tears?
Then he looked at the song Xiao Xiao picked, "Hiroshima Mon Amour."
Lin Junyang’s mouth twitched; earlier she sang "Marry Me Today" with Jing Xiangyang, now with him it’s "Hiroshima Mon Amour." What the hell?
Is this girl’s brain broken again?
"I don’t know this one; let’s sing this," Lin Junyang pointed, and "Small Dimples" popped up.
Xiao Xiao looked at the three words on the screen, listened to the beautiful melody, and watched the man in front of her pick up the microphone and start to prepare, her eyes shimmering with enchanting light.
"I’m still searching for a shoulder and a hugWho prays for me, worries for meGets angry for me, makes a fuss for me."
"Wow, Brother Yang sings so well," An Ran didn’t know what song Xiao Xiao chose before, but seeing Lin Junyang pick "Small Dimples," he guessed that Xiao Xiao’s previous choice wasn’t some sweet song. He couldn’t suppress a smile, truly believing Xiao Xiao would see the clear moon after the clouds cleared.
"Happiness starts to show signs, destiny brings us closerThen solitude is swallowed upBoredom turns into chatter, there’s a change."
Xiao Xiao sang along with the lyrics on the big screen, turning to meet Lin Junyang’s gentle, alluring peach blossom eyes, the smile at the corner of her eyes tender and indulgent.
He never knew singing with this silly woman could be so in sync; listening to her crisp and sweet voice, he truly felt the solitude being swallowed up.
And then she smiled while singing to him, "I can’t sleep every day, thinking about your smile," his heart was pounding like a drum as if it would leap out of his chest.
