Chapter 1327 - 1341: Look at Their Speed
"I’m fine, Mom. Why aren’t you guys in bed yet?" An Ran handed her backpack to the maid, bent down to change her shoes, and glanced back at Mu Xingfeng behind her. Seeing his expression was normal, she couldn’t think what might have happened at home.
Before He Yushu could answer, Old Mr. Mu spoke from over there. "Ran, you go upstairs and rest. Xingfeng, you stay. I’ve got a few words for you."
Oh? So that means it has nothing to do with me?
An Ran glanced at Mu Xingfeng again, greeted the elders good night, and went upstairs first.
Once inside the room, An Ran deliberately left the door slightly ajar, and then she heard Old Mr. Mu’s questions.
"Tell me, what’s with that woman?"
"Just someone insignificant, Grandpa. Something like what happened today won’t happen again," Mu Xingfeng sat opposite Old Mr. Mu and promised the family.
"All right, Grandpa will trust you one more time. Xingfeng, all these years, no matter what you did outside, the family never interfered, because Grandpa believes in your ability to handle things. But this time the problem is exactly with how you handled it. Since it was a favor from a friend, you could use any method, except getting your personal feelings involved. I know this isn’t entirely your fault, but you still have to learn from it. Contraceptive pills—here I am longing for a great-grandchild, and she actually dared give Ran an overdose of contraceptives. How is that any different from murder?"
Mu Xingfeng let Old Mr. Mu criticize him, sitting there without saying anything more. Some promises only needed to be made once; after that, it was about action.
After Old Mr. Mu finished, he suddenly changed the subject. "Xingfeng, Haoyu and Ruonan are also living apart, one in the Guard Team and one outside, but look at their speed. And poor Ran followed you around for so long. Or is it that Ran doesn’t want one?"
Hearing this, An Ran immediately understood why the old man had sent her away and stopped listening, closing the door fully and taking her pajamas to wash up.
By the time she came out, Mu Xingfeng was already back in the room. Seeing An Ran come out of the bathroom, he walked over, took the towel from her hand, and started drying her hair for her.
An Ran sat right down at the edge of the bed, enjoying the man’s considerate service.
"What did Grandpa say to you just now?" An Ran picked up her skincare and dabbed some on her face.
"Didn’t you already hear it?" Mu Xingfeng smoothed the hair that had slipped down by her cheek back behind her ear, waiting for her to finish putting on her skincare.
An Ran rolled her eyes. This was the tragedy of having a husband who’s a guard—you could forget about pulling any little tricks past those sharp eyes of his.
"I only heard the first half. I didn’t listen to the rest," An Ran admitted honestly.
"You want to know? If you want to know, I’ll tell you in a bit." Once An Ran had spread the skincare evenly over her face, Mu Xingfeng went on drying her hair.
"Do you want to add some furniture? Like putting a dressing table here?" Mu Xingfeng suddenly pointed at the desk next to the bookshelf and asked.
This room was the one Mu Xingfeng had used when he was in school, and the whole place was still arranged the way it had been back then. After An Ran and Mu Xingfeng got together, they occasionally stayed at the old house, but never added anything new. Even An Ran’s clothes were just a few everyday pieces she’d brought over from the villa and put into his old wardrobe.
She’d never thought much of it before, but just now, watching An Ran close her eyes and apply her skincare, Mu Xingfeng suddenly felt that his little wife seemed to be making do too much with life at his side.
An Ran immediately vetoed his suggestion. "No need. There’s a mirror in the bathroom anyway. I just forgot. A desk there is perfect—when I’m on break I can sit there and do my homework."
