Former General Is Undead Knight

Lesson 9: Bandits ⑤

"Thank you. What a thank you..."

Lambert was surrounded by villagers in the square.

The gray-haired old man standing directly in front of Lambert and thanking him is the head of this village.

The other villagers bow their heads in humility with the momentum of putting their heads on the ground.

"It was a disaster...... so I hear it's not a story that can be cleaned up"

"Dear Knight...? What is it..."

Lambert tortured the chief and had a clear grasp of the background of the bandit uprising.

Apparently, the bandits' chiefs had information that 'attacking this village would not cause the lord, Count Obock, to send private soldiers'.

The route of obtaining the information was not known in detail because Lambert himself did not engage at all due to his neglect about modern times, and eventually the chief ran out of breath first, but apparently he thought it had been deliberately communicated to the bandits by Count Obock, which seemed incorrect.

I had already asked the villagers about the reason and completed the investigation, giving them more or less an idea.

Apparently, after Lambert's death, there has been a major change in the determination of the Kingdom of Legions, and restrictions have been imposed on the amount that the Lords may levy from each Territory.

This was also heard several times by Aurelia.

"In the dawn of my unification of the western part of the continent, I intend to thoroughly improve national law so that no one will suffer from life as much as possible. So, Lambert, I've been trying to summarize some of the improvements I've been thinking about all night last night. I'd like your opinion... '

'... I'm quick, Your Highness. And it's about the Grand Duke's eyes. "

"Don't worry about it. What makes you come in here is my mother and caregiver, Ginny, the wise man of your opinion, Grandpa Cal... later, about you and Griff. 'Cause I only let people I trust.'

Once upon a time, Lambert included in the list of proposed improvements to national law shown to Aurelia the item of imposing restrictions on the breadth of taxes freely determined by the Lords everywhere.

When the villagers heard about it and realized it was being executed, Lambert was driven by such feelings as he was happy, dreadful, somewhere hateful.

But many seemed to be scratching the system.

That is Count Obock.

Count Obock said the system had been complicated and rolled in smoke by the good news that the villagers did not have a great deal of knowledge and were collecting taxes unduly high.

At one point, travelers noticed something strange and suggested to the villagers to object to the Count regarding the amount of the tax levied.

That solved the problem temporarily, and he said that the village life that he couldn't afford had a lot easier prospect.

But then immediately it is a bandit commotion.

In short, Lambert thought the village was used as a show for Count Obock.

It can't be one minute in the village that Count Obock was deluding the amount of the tax levy.

Similar things should have been done to other territories.

If you notice it in one place, it will spread to other territories in no time.

By leaving the bandits behind after attracting them, they would have threatened the surrounding territory that they would not do their duty as lords either, to those who did not pay their taxes properly.

"In any world, there's such a thing as a little villain. But don't worry. I'll see what I can do. Pests that nest in this country must be eliminated. You don't have to worry about it."

"Ha...?

The villagers didn't know what Lambert meant by words.

But he felt more reliable than the temper of his arms and Lambert, who had set up a band of bandits.

I didn't feel like asking on top of each other more than they told me I didn't have to care.

Two, three men and women walked over.

He is the three adventurers who had been held hostage earlier.

I didn't see my face well earlier, but now I see it firmly.

Lambert was terribly surprised to see the woman in the lead.

"That was helpful. Oh, my God, may I thank you... My benefactor asked me to check on the village, but it was very out of our hands. I saw you as a samurai with a name, but who the hell is it?

An elegant blonde with slightly longer eyelashes and high nose, cut short enough not to hang on her shoulders, with a firm open and strong will.

Clothes and cheeks were slightly dirty because the bandits handled them messily, but there was extra and overflowing beauty.

"Heh, Your Majesty!?

Yes, Lambert's old master, Aurelia, had two melons.

Lambert also forgot the resentment sentiment he had towards Aurelia, and at some point he knelt.

I was so surprised at the sudden reunion.

I kept my head down disappointed and fixed.

"Forgive my disrespect. I didn't know you were His Majesty... why did you go to such a village..."

Running so far in the mouth, Lambert finally calmed down too.

Yeah, well, first of all, they're different ages. The current woman was one turn younger than His Highness Aurelia in Lambert's memory.

Aurelia should have been at least twenty-six years old.

But the woman in front of her was still about eighteen years old.

If Lambert confirmed with a slight upward glance, she would have opened her mouth as if she had been taken aback, so much so that she seemed even younger than she had behaved steadfastly earlier.

An awkward silence flowed somewhat between the two.

"Oh, hey, don't you know your parents?

"... I don't want to get caught up in every trouble in Fiona's house... this time it's your word because you saved me..."

Two people in the back speak up to a woman like Aurelia.

Apparently her name is Fiona.

Though relieved to hear that the names are different, they are too similar, however.

But calm down and take a look, Fiona had a cry I didn't have in Aurelia.

"Chi, no!... I think. No one had ever stood up so much as a relative. Maybe you don't remember me when I was a little girl... but I think someone so strong would be a little more famous anyway. Oh, uh, can you take your helmet off?

Lambert held back to protect his own helmet.

"No... it seemed different. Never mind."

"Oh, really..."

Fiona was likely to have something to say, but she didn't pursue it any further.

"By the way, are you guys from the city? If you're on your way back, why don't you show me around?"

"Yes, we are based in the city of Einsas. If you don't mind, I'll be happy to show you..."

"Is that the city where the Earl of Orbok is?

"Huh? Yes, but did you need help with the Count?

"... no, not like that. Anyway, it would help if you could show me to Einsas."

Lambert wasn't going to involve Fiona and the others, so he wasn't going to talk about the hypothesis he was thinking about.

While leaning his neck against the unheard place name Einsas, he decided to accompany them.
