Former General Is Undead Knight

Episode Four: Visit to the Sacred City ③

As we approach the centre of the Sacred Capital Heinstier, we see the Cathedral.

The walls are carved with statues of angels, and the birds of statues spread their wings at the top of the characteristic pointed roof.

The building itself also had a distinctive silhouette, reaching the realm of the earliest piece of art.

"... that's a fine thing. That would be the earliest castle."

"Often, that's how you hear it. I'm afraid I can't see it with these eyes. Since the walls are high, I don't get to look very closely at them, except for church officials, who say the front door is also big and tough and wonderful."

Albania returns to Lambert's words.

Lambert, who was not set to go, first decided to try to get close to the cathedral.

"Master Swordsman, you don't imitate suddenly entering from the front, do you? Exactly then, let me back off by pretending I'm not familiar..."

"... what are you talking about? There's no way I could have done that. Now it's time to gather information."

"Oh, right...... no, good. I'm sorry, honestly, but I was wondering if it might be possible."

"We can only go in from the front until we know we don't have any other means"

"Ah... I knew you had a choice"

Albana makes a slightly convulsive voice.

"... rather than you came here for your purpose, did you?

"No, don't worry, walking around with a blah blah is your primary purpose. More importantly, my purpose is to get inspired, so it would be best to be beside the Swordsman. Usually I just want to move while earning road silver...... because this is the city here, you could be tied up just for singing lousy poems...... That's right, because I'm not going to be chased around by some heretical Inquisition sorcerer to get inspired either."

Albana shook herself.

As we approach the central cathedral, the number of people around us keeps increasing.

Lambert thought there were a lot of people coming and going to the cathedral, but apparently that wasn't even the atmosphere.

than the three Hindus who were walking nearby, they could hear the talk.

"As opposed to the family, isn't it a little too much to even have relatives?

"Why are you showing yourself to those people?

"They are demons who try to confuse the Church and lead this country to ruin. The blood of the devil must cease."

When he heard this, Lambert quickly speeded up his legs and headed ahead.

It was the square in front of the cathedral where men were gathered.

A large platform is placed around which stand the robes and covered magicians of the heretical Inquisition of Examples.

On the platform stood a man of a different appearance.

The man had no arms and was covered in bandages from the neck to the top.

The head turned out to be beautifully rounded and free of hair, ears and nose.

Like surrounding him, there stood four bodies of the Spirit of the Light Realm, a monster like a doll with wax wings on his back and a face with a hole in it.

The spirits have a long sword in their hands.

Look, I knew right away.

Because I did some digging and to some extent I was asking about the man.

The name of the man with no arms is Matthew.

It is the guardian of the Holy City of Heinsti, the corner of the four Holy Pillars.

Matthew was able to summon a large number of the Spirits of the Light Realm at the same time, and the story was that the number would be more than a hundred.

I also knew right away what I was doing.

Underneath the plateau, because a body had been rolled down that seemed to have been slashed and carved by the Spirit.

It's almost minced, and I don't even know how many people it was for.

But there were predictions that at least ten would be exceeded.

At the edge of the table stood a woman, covered in hemp bags and shackled, before the spirits.

Overall, the anomaly was that, regardless of this situation, we did not see anyone turning away from the tragic sight or speaking differently.

"What is this..."

Finally caught up, Albana stops behind Rambal with her breath out.

"... I heard rumors. Probably the Baron Diberto family. Some of the voices that criticize the Inquisition are aristocrats. The heretical Inquisition also viewed their influence as a problem for a long time. … By thoroughly crushing the Baron family, whose status is low and whose surroundings cannot be sheltered, he decided to put a threat on the upper nobles"

"Are you even doing that..."

I had grasped the information that both Lambert and the Holy City of Heinstia were punishing the nobles who had made church criticisms, but that was it.

However, there are facts that rub the information on Albana against the current state of affairs and come to see it.

(So convenient and easy to execute nobles can't be making church criticisms...)

Lambert, too, had been sporadically asked how fearful the heretical Inquisition was before he came to the land.

It was hard to imagine that there were reckless subordinate nobles who made grand church criticisms, knowing they would be crushed first.

Perhaps they were set in a trap.

I guess the heretical Inquisition, for its restraint on the upper nobility, has put up its arguments and drawn the affordable nobility to the land.

For an expression of will that even an aristocratic opponent will not condone.

"... let's go, swordsman. I don't really like the smell of blood and meat. If you stay here, you have nothing to gain. If you want to see it close, you should change the day again."

"Then I will execute my sentence to the last demon! Come on, angels! Slash and engrave the guilty from your fingertips, from your eartips, away from your heart! Unbelievably painful to show up in this world for good!

Matthew shouts out his voice.

The spirits of the light realm shook up their swords.

"Albana, thank you for guiding us so far. I appreciate it."

That's all Lambert said, he started rushing forward.

"Uh... hey, hey, swordsman! That's just not a good place for this!

Lambert shook off the halt to Albana and quickly scratched through a crowd of people.

The heretical interrogators who were protecting their surroundings noticed Lambert and immediately formed a formation to respond.

"Flame..."

"Slow"

He was a heretic inquisitor who provided a full response, but it did not extend to Lambert.

He had been bounced off by Lambert himself before exercising his sorcery.

He jumped straight up, lined up on the platform, next to the girl covered in hemp bags, and stood in front of the Spirits of Light.

I can't stand the weight of the rambale, and the whole platform turns up the sound and squeals.

"It is a new demon! Angel, give his people pain!

When Matthew screams, the spirits wave their swords at each of them and jump to Lambert.

"You stupid bastard. The devil standing before me means death! They'll fall apart!

In a moment, four spirits were slashed in three parts of each body, and fell around the table and vanished.

"What... you..."

Matthew shivers his voice.
