Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

Chapter 3106: World War

Li Yao was silent and nodded in his heart.

In fact, the fact that the voice says this, in the history of the development of human civilization in the Pan Ancient Universe, is also very much reflected in the chaos of the ancient period, including the tragedy of the ancient sacred world of "living fossils”.

Without any power, it can be achieved at no cost, and destiny has already priced every power, those that seem to be readily available, perhaps in exchange for something more precious - organization, social order, exploratory desire and curiosity.

Fortunately, the human civilization of the Pangu universe, including the Pangu civilization before the human civilization, as well as the 100 upper civilizations before the Pangu civilization, is not the first generation of native civilization in the strict sense, but the descendants of the original civilization.

On the one hand, they can find the ruins of a previous generation of civilization from the depths of the earth and the vast ocean of stars, learn valuable lessons and avoid repeating them; on the other hand, their genetic depths, which inherently contain too ancient memories from the Original clan, although for the most part these ancient memories are speckle denials, vague debris, but sufficient to stimulate the instincts of intelligent life, naturally forming complex social and highly organized.

So these “secondary civilizations” can develop quite powerful civilizations in a spiritual environment, but they also inevitably have to take a number of turns - for example, the “ancient collapse” of mankind and the "30,000 years of great darkness”, and even today the evil shapes of the Covenant Alliance and the true human empire cannot but be said to have been affected by “the individual differences too great, the strong too weak too weak”.

Those native civilizations that had neither the relics of previous civilizations to dig, nor the "organizational instincts” in their genetic depths, were suddenly deprived of endless and inexhaustible spiritual energy, as if children of seven or eight years of age had received a huge legacy and lacked adult discipline, and would simply squander with impunity, with little or no learning to do wrong.

“Spirituality is, of course, one of the most precious resources in the cosmic sea, but only a highly mature civilization with its own 'heart’ is well qualified to drive it, not to be enslaved by it. ”

The voice continues, "It is precisely because of the lack of spiritual help that we can inspire all of our passion, wisdom and courage to transform our planet with our hands, sweat and blood, to recognize the universe beyond the planet.

“We had the first industrial revolution, the second industrial revolution, the third industrial revolution.

“We discovered the laws of celestial motion, and we discovered molecules, atoms, and structures that were smaller than atoms.

“We discovered electromagnetic waves, we knew how to use radio; we conquered the alpine seas, we conquered countless species of bacteria, we even knew how to drive mold to treat deadly diseases; we believed in technology, more pious than in the gods of faith, and we firmly believed that the path of technology was infinite, and that infinite technology would eventually make us gods of ourselves and of the entire star sea.

“Of course, the rapid advances in technology and the sudden expansion of civilization have also led to insane ambitions and bloody killings. In the first 50 years of the twentieth century, we waged two successive world wars. If the main battlefield of the First World War was confined to only one continent, then the death storm of the Second World War truly swept the entire home planet.

“Those were the two most glorious and brutal wars, the lack of spirituality, the power of the unbridled chicken, who could unleash more destructive power than the practitioners, and countless tons of steel and explosives fell like pouring rain, instantly destroying a city of hundreds of thousands of people.

“Especially at the end of the Second World War, we used a weapon called an 'atomic bomb', which involves the mystery of material annihilation and energy eruptions, and on the surface of a planet with an atmosphere, it is more terrifying than a starship cannon.

“Yet war, on the one hand, is a demon of the destruction of civilizations and, on the other hand, a catalyst for the rapid development of civilizations. The new technologies and ideas that emerged from the two world wars, including the new institutions that emerged from countless destroyed old institutions, have not contributed to the explosive development of our civilizations in the second half of the twentieth century and have moved forward at a pace of electricity.

“After the end of the Second World War, but for more than two decades, on 21 July 1969, our original and humble starship embarked for the first time on the only satellite on the home planet, taking the first step towards conquering the star ocean. ”

With the sound, a new image appeared in Li Yao's head.

Three astronauts in white costumes, wearing stars and stripes, appearing swollen and clumsy, jumped on the surface of the moon and, in a slightly lower and noisy background sound, one of the astronauts sounded:

“… this is a small step for me personally, but a great step for mankind. ”

Of course, the astronaut said it in English, the “magical language” that Li Yao understood.

“The brutal destruction of the Second World War and the ensuing cold war between the two powerful confrontations not only nurtured space technology and the study of the universe, far beyond the limits of our civilization, but also awakened an ancient nation with the largest population in our civilization, which, centuries after its silence in the East, revived its vitality, its strongest sense of ambition and creativity. ”

The voice said, "The second half of the twentieth century to the first two decades of the twenty-first century, almost the fastest growing golden age of our civilization, almost every year a whole new technology and research emerged, almost every decade, the whole civilization was refreshed, in 1950, for the vast majority of people it was a fantastic computer, and by sixty or seventy years later, it could be worn on people's wrists, become an indispensable production tool and living partner for everyone, and people even began to wonder about the next century, the birth of artificial intelligence.

“Yet our wonderful fantasies are suddenly shattered like golden soap bubbles, our technological explosions hit their physical limits, forcing us to step on the brakes and enter the third decade of the twenty-first century with stagnation and heavy setbacks in all areas, with little or no valuable discovery.

“With the stagnation of technology, a series of ills and deadly flaws erupt from deep into the muscles of our civilization.

“The super-matter effect of global networking has exacerbated disparities between rich and poor and divided societies.

“The population explosion brought about by advanced medical technologies, coupled with the lack of a good education system and sufficient number of jobs, has made the vast majority of the population an 'ineffective population' or even an 'ineffective population’, rather a burden of civilization.

“Environmental damage and scarcity of resources have exacerbated the living conditions of the vast majority of the population, while the successive emergence of sophisticated and even unmanned weapons has made later vulnerable States even more vulnerable to the predominance of the first, leading to the prevalence of extremist ideologies and a series of terrorist activities.

“If these problems are ‘chronic diseases' that can be solved slowly in the course of civilization's development, then the whole civilization is plunged into havoc as soon as the absolute forces of our civilization collide, representing two distinct ideological logics and economic systems.

“Everyone wants peace, not war.

“But you should be well aware that when the external expansion of a civilization is frustrated and the world is known to be 100 per cent explored, all resources are going to be depleted, and the path of technological upgrading is blocked, and there is no second way to go but to plunge into 'inner convolutions' of desperation, killing each other and ending together.

“First trade friction, then proxy warfare, then small-scale low-intensity gun fires… A series of warm-up, probing, threats and intimidation lasted for two decades, and when both sides were well aware of each other's strength and determination, World War III finally broke out.

“There was a wise scholar in our civilization who said, 'I do not know how the Third World War was fought, I only know that the Fourth World War must have been fought with stones and sticks’, and quite rightly so.

“World War III was far more intense than World War II a hundred years ago, and even more than anyone imagined at the time - before the war began, everyone was very optimistic that it would be a 'clean war', a 'war without bloodshed', even another low-intensity bluff and routine friction between the two sides, until a teeth-dancing claw, a strangely shaped cloud of mushrooms hoisted over their heads, instantly devouring them and turning them into a burning skeleton of bears, they regretted it.

“The Third World War, which lasted three decades, was the longest and most brutal war in the history of our civilization and profoundly changed our civilization.

“Especially in the late war, with the total demise of the mother planet, the plagues of extremism and terrorism and the unscrupulous release of highly immature biological and chemical weapons, viral weapons and even genetic weapons, we felt for the first time the fear of ‘extinction of civilization'.

“Perhaps the same is true of the growth of every civilization, without a ‘catastrophic change’ that threatens to exterminate the entire civilization, without knowing the precious value of peace and solidarity.

“Even though some survivors know the importance of peace and solidarity, thirty years of bloody revenge, hundreds of millions of white and black tombstones piled with bones, have turned into heaven and high walls that block both sides.

“- If there were no accidents, our civilization would probably die in such a disgraceful and sad manner.

“But since you can hear our voices, even your very existence, represents some kind of 'miracle'.

“In 2068, a ‘miracle' - the first meteorite in a meteorite rain that was about to completely destroy the planet in a hundred years - crossed the solar system, tore the atmosphere apart and hit our desolate homeland. ”
