"Diana, can you open these bars without breaking the prohibitions?" Mo asked in a soft voice, gesturing over his face and calling forth a swirl of distorted black mist to cover the upper half, as he spoke to the female corpse, dressed as a priest, in front of him.
The body was clad in a bright yet tattered white robe, much of its flesh exposed to the air, and apart from a small portion of clear skin, the rest was severely decayed, emitting waves of strong putrid smell. Her face followed the same pattern, save for a small beautiful section on the left, the rest was rotten, the bones of her forehead and cheek could even be seen.
"Damnable monster... Divine Punishment shall descend on..." Her murky eyes were wild and chaotic as she glared at her summoner, her voice hoarse from her damaged vocal cords as she spewed a curse.
"If your god were still ’alive’, then it might have the chance to punish me personally." Synchronized with the consciousness of the Shadow of Sin, Mo sneered and said coldly, "But for now, answer my question."
The corpse named Diana then flashed a shimmer of dark light in her eyes, her demeanor suddenly calming. She walked over to the fenced bars slowly, her dull eyes sizing it up for a while before turning her head to say softly, "I believe I should be able, despite our Divine Techniques system not being part of the Holy Church Union, these low-rank techniques all lead to the same goal. As long as we don’t use powers from the chaotic or evil side, temporarily disabling these restraints should not be trouble."
"Good, then get to it." Mo nodded slightly.
"As you wish, master." Diana revealed a grotesquely twisted smile, then raised her hands and delicately touched the fence imbued with glowing Divine Technique Marks. She whispered a god’s name softly, and, astonishingly, did not trigger any retributive prohibition. Furthermore, amidst a gentle rise of silvery soft light, the bright Divine Technique Marks rapidly faded.
In less than ten seconds, the formidable standard prohibitions of the minor tribunal were effortlessly broken. There was no surprise in this, after all, Diana Lillian had once been an Advanced Stage Priest of the Bright Moon Sect, her mastery in Divine Techniques was quite profound. Even after her cruel murder significantly diminished her strength, her transformation into an undead had not erased her memory, leaving much of her knowledge intact, making the dismantling of prohibitions of this level simple.
"Very well." Mo nodded again and then carelessly pushed past the fence in front of him, stepping slowly towards the cell directly opposite and turning back to instruct another undead decked in tattered Heavy Armor, "Take position at the entrance to this floor. If anyone comes down, knock them unconscious as quickly as you can. But do not kill them."
Bruno Marz, once an Advanced Stage Temple Warrior with a stern face nodded, took a rusted flail from his waist, and left the Shadow of Sin’s prison cell. His appearance was as decayed as Diana’s, his limbs robust, but from his chest to his abdomen there were only bones and bits of rotting flesh. Though his strength was nowhere near his prime, its quality remained of Advanced Stage, which when combined with battle experience and the characteristics of an undead, made him a worthy opponent even for those at the High-Order Pinnacle.
Both had become Mo’s summoned creatures after he returned to Banther City, killing Fara and then sending Galos to secretly collect their bodies. When Mo’s skills wreaked havoc across the city, turning it into a domain of the dead, these two priests of the Bright Moon Sect stationed here did not survive. Indeed, they might have been among the few intact bodies left in the whole church. In short, they were immediately transformed into undead by one of his skills, becoming his summoned creatures.
And that was why, during the New Year celebrations on Ji Xiaodao, the gap between Mo and Cordova felt as vast as a chasm. Even though they were ranked first and second on the leaderboard, Cordova, even at his utmost effort, could barely compare with the undead state of Bruno, let alone if Mo were to command an over-standard Summoned Creature like Bloodsmoke. If he had killed a dozen or so people before summoning, Cordova would undoubtedly be defeated in a very short time.
As for fighting without Summoned Creatures, Ji Xiaodao really had no idea how far Mo could go, because for a long time, he would rarely act personally. Even in their occasional ’spars’, he would fight using his summons, The girl hadn’t thought of ways to attack his body directly, but she was always blocked by that omnipresent black crystal screen. Regardless of whether it was magic or physical damage, regardless of skill enhancements, whether it was a sneak attack or a long-awaited opportunity, she had never broken through that crystal screen, so she never truly knew how strong Mo was.
