Four Split Personalities

While Tero hadn’t interacted much with the Dark Night Sect, he was, after all, from the Church of the Dawn, and the relationship between the Church of the Dawn and the Dark Night Sect... well, let’s put it this way, although both belong to the deities of the Innocent Continent, each regards the other as they would a heretic. To put it elegantly, it’s ’kill them and rejoice’, and to put it crudely, it’s ’blow them to hell!’, thus, as a devout believer of the Church of the Dawn, Mr. Tero naturally wouldn’t be completely ignorant about his sworn enemies.

The first new recipient of the Divine Favor for hundreds of years from the Church of the Dawn, and the second saintess after Xia Lian • Bamboo Leaf, Her Highness Forget Language, was using Dark Magic! The kind of Divine Arts only the followers of the Dark Goddess Delia could wield! And its power was astonishing!

Setting aside for a moment the level of shock Tero felt, this matter, if leaked, would undoubtedly cause an upheaval within the entire Holy Church Union. To be counted alongside Sun, Justice, and Abundance as one of the four main pillars of the Holy Church Union, the Church of the Dawn having someone able to use the divine arts of other gods, especially one from the Orderly aligned but utterly opposite Dark Goddess, would surely ferment into a scandal big enough to sweep across the entire Innocent Continent, or in other words... a huge scandal!

Given that the straightforward Knight Tero might not think so far ahead, and also considering that delving into conspiracy theories in this Chapter might eliminate the need for any further exploration, he didn’t think too deeply. Tero’s first instinct was to ensure that this incident wouldn’t spread, his second was similar to Snow Mane’s earlier outburst—protect Her Highness the Saintess!

No matter how she learned Dark Magic, no matter her relation to the Dark Night Sect, Tero never believed that the Her Highness Forget Language he knew would have any ill intentions. There had to be some sort of misunderstanding, and whatever that misunderstanding was, he must protect her until it was resolved.

Yu Chen smiled tranquilly, the surrounding dark aura instantly faded away, and the next moment, a gentle yet clear light radiated from her fingertips, forming into two dazzling arcs of light that warmed the bodies of several warriors who had just been injured and hadn’t even had time to react.

Following that, a pitch-black whip thunderously crashed down from midair, lashing three mutants attempting to climb over their kin to surpass Snow Mane, throwing them into the intense fire several meters away.

The two initially unremarkable skills, now enhanced by the Twin Divine Favor to double their effectiveness, made for a striking display because the cooldown times for Yu Chen’s original set of skills, which had evolved into one set each of Light/Dark Divine Arts, began to be calculated independently. Additionally, with the trait halving the disturbed cooldown times, the power she wielded was frightening!

This was why Yu Chen chose to deactivate Light Incarnate, despite the risk of future troubles, triggering the sixth trait of Twin Divine Favor...

If she maintained her Light Incarnate, the likelihood of her using Dark Magic going unnoticed was high, enhancing all Dawn Arcanum effects by 20%. However, this would forcibly compress the activation rate of Dark Interference to 5%, and it couldn’t be activated at will.

Thus, we can conclude that if she kept the Light Incarnate, each of her divine arts would have a constant 50% chance to trigger [Dawn Divine Favor], doubling the effects and halving the cooldown and consumption, with a 5% chance to trigger [Dark Interference], doubling the effect of the next altered spell while halving the cooldown and consumption. In summary, each of her spells would have a 55% chance of significant enhancement, a 45% chance of no effect other than enjoying a 20% increase from Light Incarnate.

On the other hand, if Yu Chen impulsively activated only [Domination of Darkness], the logic would be the same, a 55% chance of enhancement, and 45% of nothing happening.

Admittedly, these passives that provide stable benefits and often double enhancements are enough to make most players enviously bash their heads in, yet they were still not enough for Yu Chen and her companions to hold out until the end, as the nearly hour-long battle before had proven.

Therefore, remembering her analysis while her talent was still [Unstable Divine Favor], Yu Chen crisply decided to end Light Incarnate to trigger the sixth trait of Twin Divine Favor.

That is, when neither the cool-skinned Light Incarnate nor Domination of Darkness were activated, all divine arts’ effects were improved by 10%, and using any side of the divine arts would have a 50% chance to cause interference.

Meaning, if Yu Chen cast a Dawn Arcanum, there were only two possibilities: one was to trigger [Dawn Divine Favor], enhancing the next Dawn Arcanum to double the effect, halving the cooldown and consumption; the other was to trigger [Dark Interference], giving the next Dark Magic the same enhancement, with both possibilities at 50%, and no other outcomes.
