Chapter 1066 - 490: Stubborn Resistance_2
But someone knew!
A slender figure suddenly emerged from the forest, brandishing a peculiar weapon and pounced forth with a cry, heading straight for the convulsing orc thief on the ground, and before everyone else could react, raised the hammer, which resembled a gear, and smashed it down hard!
Crack!
A burst of crimson blood exploded on the spot, and the struggling orc thief finally lay motionless.
"You’ve got guts to lick a dagger coated with Sister Yege’s cooking!"
After delivering a fatal blow to the nameless orc thief with her hammer, Ya Ya let out a sigh of relief, wiped the blood that had splattered on her face, and huffed, "You got what you deserved."
And so, the truth was laid bare...
In simple terms, the nameless thief had perfectly blocked the black substance that Ji Xiaoge had thrown at him, guessing based on his ample experience that it was neither toxic nor harmful. Following some bad habit learned from who knows where, he licked the dagger and ingested a small amount of Ji Xiaoge’s meticulously prepared dessert...
And thus, he dropped dead.
Motan and Sergei, who were engaged in battle, hadn’t seen it; Rex Hawke Wood had seen it but didn’t understand what went wrong. Ji Xiaoge herself had witnessed the entire process, and after struggling to come to terms with reality, reached for some tea eggs to finish the job with a throw, but someone else acted faster than she did!
That was Ya Ya, who had just finished assembling her weapon in the bushes. She saw the thief lick the dagger covered in the Ye family’s culinary poison and quickly extrapolated the outcome. Acting on the principle that opportunity knocks but once, she didn’t hesitate and charged forward, swinging her weapon.
Sure enough, in the middle of her run, the thief who had never experienced such tactics was taken down by a small dab of the black substance, and then began convulsing in agony, completely losing the ability to resist.
So Ya Ya swung her hammer to grant him release.
The process was swift; despite being a high-level professional, he could not escape death in his utterly defenseless state. It’s worth noting that Ya Ya’s strength, especially when in berserk mode, even surpassed that of Motan and Jadka (?). The hammer Luwei had custom-made for her was particularly heavy – not just the nameless thief, even a high-level knight clad in plate armor would probably lose half his life if hit directly by the hammer in such a (food) poisoned (state).
In summary, the skilled thief met his untimely end under the hammer.
"You’re next!"
Having taken a life for the first time, Ya Ya was remarkably composed. Immediately after pulverizing the unlucky orc into mosaic, she turned and walked towards Rex Hawke Wood, who was nearly scared out of his wits, flashing a terrifyingly cute grin, "Don’t be afraid, it’ll all be over with a DUANG."
"Not on my watch!"
Sergei was already sprinting over. Although he didn’t know how the thief had been taken down, judging by the half-beast girl’s strength and speed, he was confident that she wasn’t overly formidable – probably on par with the sheep knight he had thoroughly thrashed. So, he still had some assurance in his heart.
Regardless, he couldn’t let his client Rex die here, as that would undoubtedly create a considerable negative impact on the reputation of the Viper Chamber of Commerce, which meant he wouldn’t have many good days left himself.
[I must stop her]
Driven by urgency, Sergei burst forth with all his might. With a nimble maneuver, he appeared behind Ya Ya, his hands striking out with the sound of thunderous winds, aiming for the girl’s back. Despite the lack of flashy effects, the characteristic of the Martial Monk profession is such – no unnecessary flair, but every move packs a significant punch. If Sergei connected this blow, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"So fast!"
Ya Ya instinctively crouched at the sound of the whoosh, narrowly dodging Sergei’s lightning-fast fists, then without looking back, swung her hammer backward, attempting to hit her pursuer in the head.
But the gap between them was too wide. Sergei, unweakened by any mysterious culinary creations, let out a cold laugh. Raising his left hand, he brushed and patted the hammer’s head, amazingly diffusing most of Ya Ya’s strength. He then effortlessly swiped away the now-harmless hammer, closed in on the girl’s side in a flash, and swiftly tapped her wrist.
"Ugh!"
Ya Ya felt a numbness in her right hand, losing control and dropping her weapon. As the gear-shaped hammer hit the ground, Sergei landed an elbow strike on her abdomen. She spat out a mouthful of blood and stumbled to the ground, gasping for breath heavily.
"Still alive?"
Sergei actually looked somewhat surprised, raising his eyebrows and looking down at Ya Ya with astonishment, "Given your physical fitness, all your internal organs should have shattered to pieces after being hit directly by my Inch Power."
"Ugh..."
Ya Ya spat out another mouthful of blood, then staggered to her feet, her pale little face staring at her opponent, "Shatter... shatter your mom’s head! This girl’s life is tough! You think... cough cough... you think you can kill me with that?"
"Yeah."
Sergei, not angry but amused, slapped out again, aiming directly for Ya Ya’s heart, "I do want to kill you very much!"
Boom!
Just at that moment, a wall of fire suddenly rose between the two, blocking Sergei’s fist, and Ya Ya took advantage of the other’s hesitance to bend down, pick up her weapon, and while retreating, she shouted discontentedly to someone not far away, "Too slow, Jadka!"
"It’s you who charged too fast."
The old mage, who had appeared behind the group of slaves at some unknown time, called out with his neck stretched, then waved his magic wand and threw two fireballs at Sergei. He was currently busy dragging and pulling the dazed orcs towards the forest, but the task was not going smoothly. Most of the slaves were standing in a daze, only taking a step or two when pulled or pushed, as most of them were in a state of mental confusion.
This was the plan Ya Ya and Jadka had agreed upon: the former was to look for an opportunity to help Motan and Ji Xiaoge restrict the enemy, while the latter was supposed to move as many slaves as possible from the edge of the clearing into the woods, and then have them run towards the reinforcements that were due to arrive.
The plan was good, and the initial execution had gone surprisingly well, perhaps even too well, as no one expected the orc to be foolhardy enough to lick the stuff Ji Xiaoge threw, giving Ya Ya the chance to strike while the iron was hot and hammer him to death.
However, leading the slaves turned out to be troublesome. It was unknown what they had been fed, but most displayed clear signs of lethargy and dullness. Although they looked alright except for obvious malnutrition, their mental state was alarmingly close to idiocy, which made it impossible for Jadka to evacuate them quickly.
"Another mage?"
Sergei narrowed his eyes slightly, his expression dark as he exploded the two fireballs that came flying at him, and said coldly, "And an apprentice-level piece of trash at that?"
Without looking back, he swung a punch, countering Ya Ya’s incoming hammer and sending it flying, then swiftly moved in front of the girl, grabbed her by the neck to lift her up, and kicked her seven or eight meters away. He then dashed to Rex, holding his shoulder and said solemnly, "Leave these small fry to me, you run to the carriages right now. As long as you get there, you’re safe, understand?"
Rex immediately nodded rapidly and, once released by Sergei, scrambled toward the direction of the black carriages.
Meanwhile, Sergei casually cracked his knuckles and then strode over to where Ya Ya was struggling to get up, snarling, "Do you know? Half-beast female slaves are prime goods, especially ones with your looks. We could charge a hundred thousand gold coins and still have people fighting to take you home for... training."
"Train your mom’s head!"
Ya Ya’s eyes were bloodshot as she glared at him, continuously making growling noises from her throat.
"Train your mom’s head!"
Ji Xiaoge launched into the air, firing again with the goddess of war, Kaytlin.
"Train your mom’s head!"
Jadka, enraged, waved his magic wand and cast a scorching chain of fire.
"Train your mom’s head!"
A flash of the sword, and the knight on the sheep charged into battle.
