Ji Xiaoge pouted discontentedly, complaining to Motan, "It’s over, my total score is probably even lower than yours. You can now boast to others that you are even more good-looking than Miss Yege!"

"Om mani padme hum..."

"Hey, what are you doing?"

"Om vajra heruka sendai..."

"Has he... gone crazy?"

Ji Xiaoge glanced timidly at Motan, who seemed to be focusing on mumbling some kind of mantra, waved her little fists at his back, and then turned back to look at the mirror.

"Tail, zero points, you have five seconds to transform, five, one, okay, zero points."

The mirror emotionlessly gave out another zero score.

"What about the promised five seconds? Did you only count to three? Did you count only to thre..."

"Wings, fifty points, skipped the commentary phase due to a lack of preset vocabulary."

"Hey hey, I can still pass even without dragon wings, fifty is full marks, right? I’m not actually that good~"

The girl was about to complain some more, but upon hearing this, she clutched her head and started giggling stupidly.

[It must be that Xiaoge is the type of person who, even if she gets upset, you can just coax her a bit and she’ll brighten up instantly.]

Motan thought to himself, as he multitasked.

[Appearance, fifty points, skipped the commen...]

The mirror couldn’t continue, because Ji Xiaoge, who had just mentally calculated her final score to be a hundred and eighty-nine, suddenly pulled off her headband, temporarily disabling the ’One of a Kind’ effect of her [Allure] talent.

And then...

[Appea... zz... appearance... crack crack crack... unable to cal... buzz buzz buzz...]

Pfft! Bang!

After emitting a series of bizarre sounds, the mirror, which seemed to have entered a vibration mode, exploded in a puff of colored smoke, and fragments of an unknown material, akin to glass shards, burst out in all directions like torrential rain.

"Watch out!"

Motan, who had been keeping an eye on what was happening behind him, immediately turned around and rushed over, only to find that Ji Xiaoge had not been injured at all. Despite standing still, the spraying fragments seemed to consciously avoid her.

A few seconds later, Dragon King Boss, radiating a hazy golden light, reappeared in front of Motan and Ji Xiaoge, who had lost 15% of his health from the fragments. Although he looked better than before, to the two of them, he seemed more like a candle flickering before it goes out.

"Congratulations... to you... or you both for passing the test."

Boss nodded slightly to the space between them without saying anything superfluous, cutting straight to the point: "I’ve done everything I could. At this moment, if I close my eyes, I might just die on the spot, but I still need to leave myself some time to reach my final resting place, so this will be the last image."

"The next test is the last and the most dangerous."

"Strength, is the only guarantee for survival."

"A very powerful Combat Puppet awaits; if it uses its full strength, it could even kill an adult non-main... I meant to say a Rainbow Dragon with its bare hands as easily as killing a chicken."

"However, as the one being tested... either one or both of you, will receive a mark from me. It will restrain the Puppet’s strength to 60% of its prime, and it will not attack or chase after you both."

"My offspring is located behind the next chamber."

"Remember, foreign dragon descendants, even though the Combat Puppet won’t fight with full force, it will do everything to prevent you from crossing its defensive line. During this process, the chance of being killed is real; this is not a threat or a lie, keep it in mind."

"If you do not wish to take the risk, there is a Teleportation Array at the entrance to the next chamber, which will send you to my little treasury, and you may take three items from inside."

"I must warn you, even just ’testing’ the combat machine comes with great risk."

"This thing... it cost me a fortune equivalent to seven million Gold Coins."

"Please cherish your life..."

"But if you pass the final test..."

"Please take good care of my child; I only wish for him to live happily and grow up healthily."

"So, the most awesome, the most handsome, known as the dream lover of three hundred million mother dragons... the most useless and dazed Last Dragon King, here’s wishing you good luck."

With these words, Boss’s apparition bowed slightly, then turned into specks of starlight and Disappeared into thin air.

Motan and Ji Xiaoge looked at each other and nodded simultaneously, then walked side by side toward the door opposite the room and pushed it open, entering the fourth stone chamber.

A formation emanating a golden haze twinkled faintly before them.

And in the center of the room, an artificial construct referred to as a combat puppet by Boss Bosh stood quietly erect, looking murderous and impressively formidable.

It was a mechanical creature nearly three meters tall, entirely in dark red, with limbs proportionate to a normal humanoid, and a triangular head reminiscent of a praying mantis, full of mechanical texture but not the least bit intimidating; upon closer inspection, it even appeared somewhat handsome. Above the two pairs of ice-blue hazy ’pupils,’ a huge crescent-shaped red crystal was embedded on the spot that should be the ’forehead,’ radiating a hazy glow.

There were also the huge scythe-shaped black shoulder guards, dark red full-body armor seemingly forged from some kind of crystal, the dark golden cape that hung like bat wings at either side of the body, and the six double-handed giant swords inverted on its back, with grooves at the knees that seemed to be capable of firing something.

Though it merely stood still, the pressure it emitted still made it slightly difficult for the two to breathe. To say it was a puppet, it felt more like a demon god choosing its prey.

[Allure.]

Motan almost instantly made a judgment. Although it was an inexplicable intuition, he was confident that if that thing was successfully ’activated,’ it would take no more than one move to take down both him and Ji Xiaoge.

Ji Xiaoge also widened her eyes and murmured softly, "This thing..."

"Let’s leave."

Motan interrupted her, decisively declaring: "Leave immediately. We can’t handle this thing; we’ll be killed in an instant!"

Ji Xiaoge hesitated for a moment, but carefully stepped forward: "I want a closer look at it."

"No."

Motan shook his head forcefully but found he didn’t need to take action himself, as a golden light suddenly flashed in front of Ji Xiaoge, who had just stepped forward, and she was repelled by what seemed to be some sort of barrier.

At the same time, two lines of golden text appeared in front of them:

Do you wish to close this one-time teleportation array and activate the challenge?

(Note: Once reactivated, you will be teleported outside the Dragon King’s Tomb.)

The implication was clear; if they chose to attempt the challenge, even if they survived a failure, there would be no access to Boss Bosh’s treasury to pick and choose treasures.

Below, the words ’yes’ and ’no’ in gold kindly blinked twice.

"Let’s hurry and leave."

Ignorning the text, Motan looked seriously at Ji Xiaoge: "We agreed you’d listen to me."

"No, no, no, I’m not saying I won’t listen to you, it’s just..."

Ji Xiaoge hesitated, pointed at the puppet in the center of the hall, and said with some uncertainty: "I... I feel like I’ve seen that thing before and wanted to get a closer look at it."

"You’ve seen this thing?"

"Um... I’m not sure, but it feels familiar, so..."

"If you get close to it, the challenge will activate. Never mind the treasury, what if it attacks us right away?"

"Didn’t Boss say? It will only stop those trying to pass and enter through that door, right?"

Ji Xiaoge gestured towards the stone door behind the puppet.

"That still doesn’t justify taking such a senseless risk..."

[Help... Help... me...]

A whispery and ethereal voice interrupted Motan.

Ji Xiaoge beside him was also stunned; she apparently heard the voice as well.

Both exchanged glances, seeing bewilderment in each other’s eyes.

And then...

[Help... me... I’m suffocating... quick...]

The voice sounded again.

Ji Xiaoge gritted her teeth and stamped her foot, pressing ’yes’ on the line of golden text alongside Motan, closing the teleportation array to Boss Bosh’s treasury...

And activated the challenge!
