"What exactly do you know..."

John wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his expression taut as he asked, "What do you intend to do?"

In fact, the moment Ji Xiaodao had identified himself, John had realized that trouble was imminent. After all, if he had known nothing, it might have been fine, but since his opponent had blatantly admitted his true identity, the chances of John getting out of here unscathed today were virtually nil. Having lived in Telon for most of his life, John was well aware that a ’Sin Knight’ had been very popular in the upper echelons recently, and this girl, the ’partner’ of the Sin Knight, was definitely not doing something that matched her identity.

"That’s two questions, John."

Ji Xiaodao gently brushed a strand of silver hair that had fallen onto his shoulder. His voice was devoid of warmth, "And now it’s my time to ask questions... So, even you don’t know the true identity of that ’Soul of Abel,’ do you?"

John nodded slightly, his voice hoarse as he said, "That’s right. I only know he is the Soul of Abel, an avenger of much greater importance than someone like me."

"An avenger, huh..."

A hint of a smile flashed in the girl’s bright red eyes as she spoke softly, "I thought so."

"What is it you thought so? What exactly do you know?"

John yanked off the necklace from around his neck and drew out a longsword amid a hazy shimmer of silver light, pointing it threateningly at the dark elf girl in front of him, "Answer me!!"

Ji Xiaodao looked at him coldly, gently standing up and furrowing his eyebrows, "I can answer your question, but I sincerely hope you won’t try to kill me right here after hearing it."

"Answer my question!!!"

"Alright, as you wish."

The girl nodded, answering in the same icy tone as before, "Although it’s just a guess, but you... and my housekeeper, who goes by the name Dao En, the Soul of Abel, should be remnants of a dynasty that was overthrown more than a thousand years ago, right? After all, the connection between praising the sun and the Soul of Abel isn’t much, but the Sun Dynasty and its fourth ruler—Abel Linken—is one."

Buzz—

A roaring sound began, just as Ji Xiaodao mentioned ’Sun Dynasty,’ John Martin had already decided that he must kill the girl in front of him no matter what. His hand’s longsword suddenly burst into a blaze of light, launching several luminous, wheel-shaped sword lights into the air, striking out with a high-frequency vibration.

"I knew it..."

Ji Xiaodao sighed softly, remaining still until the moment those wheels of light were about to reach her before reacting—by barely moving his right thumb.

Boom!!

A curtain of black ice crystals suddenly appeared before those wheels of light, in the blink of an eye extinguishing them in the air, leaving no trace behind.

It wasn’t until then that a longsword wrapped in several black threads emerged silently in front of Ji Xiaodao, its blade swirling with a cold black mist.

[Dark Ice Rain - Ice Burial]

"If you’re willing to lay down your weapon, I can give you a chance."

Ji Xiaodao looked at John coldly, grabbing the floating long sword [Returning Quietly] in front of him and stabbing it into the ground, "Depending on the situation, we don’t have to be enemies."

However, John Martin, as if he had not heard at all, continued to lift his longsword and then leaped forcefully, roaring as he slashed at Ji Xiaodao in the air.

"Utterly senseless."

Ji Xiaodao narrowed his eyes, and his slim figure disappeared on the spot in an instant, while at the same moment, he darted out diagonally from a shadow at John’s side like lightning, his left hand gently grasping.

A spiral of black flames erupted from the ground, carrying a chilling cold that ’burned’ the void-hitting John as if bone-maggots were eroding his body, penetrating relentlessly, like a shadow that follows the form.

[Phantasmic Flame Sword Wheel - Illusory Flame]

The girl, with a backhanded draw, pulled out [Night Rain]—its hilt wrapped in black lines and protruding from the shadows. The tip of the sword gently scraped the ground, producing a series of soft sounds...

As well as more than ten sharp, dark cyan sword phantoms!

[Cunning Wind Drawing - Wind Engrave]

Ding ding ding ding!!!

However, John, enveloped in the black phantom flames, let out a thunderous roar. A substantive layer of golden armor appeared on his body, and the longsword in his hand turned a pure gold color. It not only dispersed the surrounding flames but also stubbornly blocked those tricky sword phantoms.

"Victorious Knight overwhelms all opposition, artillery roars undaunted by human or ghost, hallowed curse consumes heaven completely, Sculpture Soul fearless under Light shun’s Shadow Assault!"

Enshrouded in a suit of Light Cast Battle Armor, John bellowed, turning his head to Ji Xiaodao with a vicious smile, "You’re a user of shadow power, aren’t you? Unfortunately, my ancestors were members of the Soul Casting Kingdom Guard, and what I have inherited is the power of light casting. In the name of the sun, your sewer-bred shadow powers can’t harm me in the least!"

"Is that so?"

Ji Xiaodao simply watched him with a calm expression, unfazed. With a swift lift of her arm, she summoned back the longsword [Quiet Return] from John’s feet through [Shadow Weave], speaking softly, "Let’s give it a try then..."

And then she merged back into the shadows.

"It’s useless!"

John abruptly raised the longsword, bursting forth like a human-shaped flash grenade with intense light that brightly lit the entire cottage, and then...

His legs were quietly ensnared by sand and stones, firmly immobilized, and within the next five seconds, he was hit by thirty or more strikes spewing out a mouthful of blood.

Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding!!!

But the girl’s slender and fragile silhouette appeared around John like a series of snapshots. The two longswords in her hands formed into trails of phantoms like rampaging storms, continuously scouring the surface of his Light Cast Battle Armor. There was no added force, just pure slicing, chopping, stabbing, sweeping, and picking—a touch-and-retreat attack with basic sword techniques. At the same time, the thin sword [Curse Expel] at the girl’s waist, driven by the elements of thunder and wind, became a dark purple streak of ’lightning’ that danced up and down, relentlessly gnawing at the faltering light armor.

Additionally, a closer look would reveal that not only [Night Rain], [Returning Quietly], and [Curse Expel], but each of these three swords were entwined with numerous, even finer black threads. Besides several directly connecting to Ji Xiaodao, the remaining threads moved a total of twelve differently-colored daggers, which followed the main weapons’ every swing in a fan of knives pattern, leaving countless scorching hot or chillingly cold, sharp or vicious slash marks in the air.

In summary, Ji Xiaodao, without using any major moves and just by activating two abilities—[Shadow Weave] and [Three Control], directly engaged in the fight, and then easily blew up this John, an offshoot of the Sun Dynasty who had inherited the powers of the Soul Casting Kingdom Guard.

Yes, blew up. Even though it was just standard attacks, under the girl’s nearly twenty hits per second attack speed, John’s light pillar armor lasted less than ten breaths before being completely shattered—and that was only because Ji Xiaodao had held back in time.

"You can’t harm me in the least?"

Releasing the two longswords to let them continue floating by her side, Ji Xiaodao smiled faintly: "If I really wanted to harm you, it wouldn’t just be ’in the least,’ so you’d better..."

"Ah!!!"

John, with bloodshot eyes, did not let her finish. He charged at the shadow-laden door with a loud shout, and the almost jagged longsword in his hand burst forth with one final glimmer of light, striking fiercely!

And at the moment that light slash was about to tear the wooden door, a deformed, large hand with a half-moon blade, wrapped in black bandages, savagely clamped onto his neck.

The next second, the light dissipated, and the forcibly silenced John quivered in the hands of [Yin Ji], like a torn rag doll amid an aura of despair and grotesqueness.

"So you’d better cooperate a little, Mr. Remnant..."
