Chapter 2848 - 1350: Gentle Torment

The [Law Enforcer’s Staff] is a weapon that Double Leaf only recently developed.

However, calling it a weapon might be misleading, as it doesn’t align with the conventional definition of weapons in the game. For instance, it doesn’t need to be carried around, nor does it need to be stored in a player’s inventory. It is simply made "on the spot" when the user needs it.

In other words, even if the character ’Double Leaf’ is killed and has to start over in the game, as long as her next character acquires the [Magic Controller] profession and meets the requirements for crafting this piece of gear, she can unconditionally obtain this weapon, which has extremely frightening effects.

Though it sounds simple, the process for Double Leaf to acquire this weapon is no less arduous than completing any task chain of [Unique Epic] quality level, perhaps even more troublesome.

Creating a weapon is not particularly difficult, much like Ji Xiaoge having the [Chef] profession, and The Realm of Innocence also has non-combat professions like Blacksmiths and tailors. They have their own skill systems, and the higher the level and the stronger their specialization, the better the quality of the items they create. Additionally, they can repair a greater variety of equipment.

In fact, beyond the combat-focused players, the game also has a massive base of life-oriented players, like the girl with the game ID [Gloomy Skies] who was by Jiawen’s side. Before meeting up with her, she was a rather powerful life player, with a tailor level high enough to handmade excellent quality equipment suitable for high-level professionals.

And because players with specialization skills are relatively few, their game experience is quite favorable. They can do business with NPCs and receive custom orders from forums, chat groups, online shops, and such, living quite comfortably.

As for groups like studios and clubs, they’ve cultivated large numbers of high-end life players specifically to serve their teams or stars. For those with relatively high skills, even leaving aside private work, their base monthly salaries typically hit five figures.

Still...

Even under such circumstances, no life player in The Realm of Innocence can create equipment on the level of [Law Enforcer’s Staff]— they’d exhaust themselves to death doing it!

From a God’s Eye View, the only person completing similar endeavors is Guxiaole, who ranks near the top of [Player Individual Strength Rankings]. The Five-Boned Bat Fan she crafted, with its two modes: [Bai Jue: Shura Hell]/[Hei Chu: Divination Decision], is equally formidable.

However, compared to the two, Double Leaf’s [Law Enforcer’s Staff] holds an overwhelming advantage in part because of its replicability, and partly because Gu Xiao Le’s fan only has two forms. In contrast, the magic wand in Double Leaf’s hand, though unlocking relatively few traits, boasts more than five modes.

Indeed, as many might have already guessed, [Law Enforcer·Purple Thunder] is just one of the weapon’s output modes, with the corresponding attribute [Lightning]. Moreover, it can transform into other elemental forms when needed, with corresponding changes in traits and attributes.

So strictly speaking, Double Leaf didn’t just make a single epic quality Niu Chao magic wand, but an entire series of magic wands!

The complexity of this can be imagined...

As already mentioned, this miracle that Double Leaf can infinitely replicate isn’t cheap. The reason it can be easily recreated despite not being [Soul Binding] equipment is simply because once the wand is completely finished, recreating it is merely a matter of [copying]→[pasting], with the template saved in Double Leaf’s mind.

As a result, if the character dies but the player remains competent, as long as Double Leaf is willing and has sufficient panel strength, she can make as many as she wishes, though only she can use them.

And developing this creation is a challenge of its own.

Let’s use an example: suppose you have a friend who likes watching certain animations, and he can draw...

Ahem, let’s use a serious example: suppose you have a friend who enjoys gaming, and he buys a new computer. He’d certainly first copy the games from his old computer to a hard drive or to the cloud, if he subscribed, and then paste them onto the new computer. With a hard drive in hand and a cloud subscription, the workload is minimal.

This is the process Double Leaf now uses to recreate [Law Enforcer]— a simple hand gesture.

But if you asked your friend to input each piece of code, create each model, and write loads of text from scratch in the new computer, wouldn’t that be putting him in a tough spot?

The new computer lacks Minesweeper or Solitaire, code it directly.

The new computer lacks StarCraft, code it directly.

The new computer lacks Monster Hunter, code it directly.

The new computer lacks Final Fantasy, code it directly.

The new computer lacks XXXX, just code it, dang it!

Honestly, if this were two or three decades ago (in this book), even if your friend were a jack of all trades, they might spend half a lifetime or even a full life, two lifetimes, three lifetimes, and just give up.

And we can understand Double Leaf’s process of creating the [Law Enforcer’s Staff] as her painstakingly coding every aspect of such a maniacal creation herself.
