"I just happen to be heading back to the guild, want to come along?"

Luna casually extended the invitation.

[Alchemist guild? I know this one!]

Motan rejoiced and immediately indicated that he was about done strolling around and was planning to head back anyway.

"Got it."

The corners of Luna’s lips seemed to twitch slightly, and in the next instant, she turned and walked towards the exit of the inner city district, without any intention of waiting for Motan.

The latter naturally hurried to catch up, being careful not to overtake her pace.

"How have you been recently?"

Walking in front, Luna didn’t completely ignore Motan but casually asked.

"Not bad, in a couple of days, I need to join the support troops from the Union and deal with the heretics over at Sumer."

Motan laughed and replied casually: "Just making up the numbers."

"Just making up the numbers?"

"Like, slacking off?"

"Slacking off in Sumer?"

"Uh... slacking off means just tagging along, not really doing much."

"Oh, not bad, it’s rare for you to not be spewing blood these days."

Luna nodded slightly, continuing on without looking back: "Slacking off is good."

Motan chuckled awkwardly, not continuing the conversation.

"Is Wang Yu going with you?"

Luna asked, sometimes referring to Yu Chen as Her Highness the Saintess, but since they were relatively familiar, she would call her Wang Yu when she forgot about that.

"She’s not going."

Motan shook his head, glancing towards the direction of the... ah, what he believed to be the Combat Nuns’ Abbey: "Under the Pope’s orders, she has to stay in the City of Light, which I think is a good idea."

Luna glanced back at him: "Really?"

So Motan repeated to her the analysis he had recently given to Yu Chen.

"Right, that’s how it is."

Luna continued to walk steadily ahead of Motan, it was uncertain whether she was listening, but once he finished speaking, she said softly, "And you? Are you alright?"

"What could be wrong with me?"

"Like, spitting blood, fainting and stuff like that, wouldn’t it be troublesome without anyone to take care of you?"

"..."

"So, no problems?"

"No problems, I have friends over there."

Motan heaved a sigh of relief, vaguely responding.

"What kind of friends?"

"People from the same place, good people."

...

At the base of Holy Mountain Sumer, Snowfall Slope

"Achoo!!"

Fire Yang suddenly sneezed and then continued to vigorously beat the war drum at his waist, murmuring foolishly, "Which girl is thinking about me now."

Ahead, the Windfury Shaman crossed her hands and cast out a string of dazzling Lightning Chains, then shouted back loudly: "Flame Sun, don’t zone out, follow everyone and press forward, those blasphemers are losing ground!"

"Damn them!"

Fire Yang focused and saw that the group of muttering heretics not far away were indeed being pushed back by the elemental forces summoned by the dozens of Shaman Priests, and while they had sustained no major casualties due to their eerie powers, they couldn’t come out unscathed either. Two of the seemingly slower heretics had already vomited blood from being hit by three rounds of the Hammer of Wind Fury, looking like they couldn’t hold on any longer. He immediately surged forward, beating the rhythm of the Bloodlust War Drum with his hands, shouting out a buffing War Song, invigorating the warriors at the front, and with the Shamans’ cover, they forcefully pushed those heretics back.

"Freeze all blades and wounds, while the whirlwind howls across the chaotic battlefield~"

After re-buffing the warriors, Fire Yang then howled out the lyrics of the [Storm War Song] he found online; although not very powerful, the storm that was called into existence still blew a few heretics around in the cold wind, making them retreat continuously.

The same War Song, if sung by a Windfury Shaman of the same level, could summon at least a small-scale snowstorm, but Fire Yang’s main profession was, after all, a War Shaman. Although he had some level in Windfury Shaman, his power in this area wasn’t as commendable.

But no matter, he wasn’t the main force on this defense line; at the moment the [Storm War Song] roared out, the Earth Seer in the middle of the team raised the Sacrifice Hammer, swinging it silently.

A nearly ten-meter long rock serpent burst from the ground with a thunderous noise, instantly devouring a couple of Whisper cultists who couldn’t dodge in time, then with a fierce sweep of its tail, it knocked seven or eight enemies off the cliff, and finally, with a silent hiss, it charged into the enemy line and exploded with a bang!

"Retreat!"

The leading bishop of the Whisper Sect made a prompt decision, murmuring something unintelligible, then bounced off numerous violent rocks, protecting most of the people around him, and decisively ordered a retreat.

Meanwhile, the Earth Seer, who had expended a fair amount of energy, also signaled everyone not to pursue too aggressively, slaughtering a few slow escapees before regrouping the troops to pull back to the slope.

Then began the orderly process of transporting the injured and dead, treatment, and burial.

This had become a routine for Fire Yang in Sumer these days, but he still found it hard to adapt...

"Dammit, these bastards!"

Fire Yang reached out to close the eyes of a Beastman warrior who had just chatted with him a few hours earlier, cursing angrily.

"Don’t let anger cloud your mind, Flame Sun."

The venerable Earth Seer gently patted the apprentice who was the cousin of the friend of the second sister of the object of his secret crush, consolingly saying: "The Holy Church Union is already organizing personnel, reinforcements will be arriving soon."
